Aztec’s Claw Wild Dice Slot Review
Aztec’s Claw Wild Dice is a slot that keeps its real game hidden behind a claw machine. The reels, the paytable, the lovely jungle temple framing them – all of it mostly exists to get you into the bonus, where a mechanical claw fishes coloured cubes out of a pool and nearly everything worth winning lives.
That’s a bolder bet than the scenery suggests. BGaming have built a mid-volatility 5×4 slot with 20 paylines, a 96.10% RTP and a 6,000x win cap, and left the base game deliberately plain so the claw can carry it. It sits alongside the studio’s other light-hearted output, games like Johnny vs Chicken and Fruit Million, which favour a clear gimmick over heavy maths.
Whether that single idea holds up for a whole session is the question this one has to answer.
Wild Multipliers and the Base Game
The base game runs on 20 fixed paylines across a 5×4 grid. Wins read left to right, three or more identical symbols on a line pays, and only the highest combination per line counts. Simultaneous wins on different lines are added together.
The royal symbols J, K and Q all pay the same, and their values are multiples of the total bet rather than the line bet. That distinction matters more than it sounds, because 20 lines at a total-bet paytable makes the low end of the grid cheaper than it first appears.
- J – 3 pays 0.2x, 4 pays 0.5x, 5 pays 1x the total bet
- K – 3 pays 0.2x, 4 pays 0.5x, 5 pays 1x the total bet
- Q – 3 pays 0.2x, 4 pays 0.5x, 5 pays 1x the total bet
Those are the only symbol values on the board. Everything else that pays in this game comes from Wilds, Scatters and the bonus round behind them, which tells you where the design’s attention went.
The Wild Multiplier Feature
Every spin, each Wild on the reels carries a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, 6x, 8x or 10x. The multiplier applies to the total win of any payline the Wild forms part of.
When more than one Wild sits on the same winning line, their multipliers are added together rather than multiplied. A line running through two Wilds pays the sum of both multipliers, not the product.
That rule keeps stacked Wild lines from running away entirely, while still letting a well-built line pay several times its face value.
The Bonus Claw Game
Scatter symbols anywhere on the main board trigger the Bonus Claw Game, and the more of them land, the more grabs you start with. What follows is a fairground claw machine: the claw reaches into a pool of coloured cubes, and each attempt either pulls a cube out or misses, settled by chance rather than skill.
- 3 Scatters award 7 Free Claw Grabs
- 4 Scatters award 9 Free Claw Grabs
- 5 Scatters award 12 Free Claw Grabs
Every cube has a value between 1x and 20x the bet, paid immediately as a Cube Win when grabbed. The cube’s colour decides what else it can do, but only through a Side Quest: the cube’s value has to meet or beat a threshold shown on screen.
Fail the threshold and you keep the Cube Win and nothing more.
- Red cubes can trigger a Jackpot through a successful Side Quest: Mini at 50x, Minor at 100x, Major at 1,000x or Grand at 5,000x
- Blue cubes can award extra claw grabs, adding 2, 3 or 5 attempts
- Yellow cubes can add a multiplier of 2x, 5x or 10x to the Cube Win
A successful Side Quest pays the Cube Win plus the Side Quest reward; an unsuccessful one pays the Cube Win alone. The jackpot values are stake multiples rather than fixed amounts, so the Grand at 5,000x scales with your bet.
Blue cubes are what give the round legs. A lucky run of extra grabs stretches a seven-grab trigger into something much longer, and every additional grab is another shot at a red cube and the ladder above it.
Extra Bets and the Bonus Buy
There are three paid shortcuts on offer, two persistent bet modes and a straight buy. Each runs at its own RTP, all fractionally below the standard game’s 96.10%.
- Bonus Bet – costs 2x the base bet, makes the Bonus Claw Game three times more likely to trigger during the base game, RTP 96.00%
- Wild Bet – costs 5x the base bet, makes Wild symbols three times more likely to land, RTP 96.01%
- Buy Bonus – costs 80x the base bet, guarantees the Bonus Claw Game with 3, 4 or 5 random Scatters, RTP 95.97%
The buy is the only one that removes the waiting entirely. The scatter count is still randomised, so an 80x outlay can land the seven-grab entry rather than the twelve.
The two bet modes work differently. They stay on between spins and change the composition of the base game rather than skipping to the bonus, so they suit a session where you want more Wild action or more bonus chances without committing 80x in one go.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most of a session with Aztec’s Claw Wild Dice is spent waiting for the temple doors to open, and the game is honest about that: you spin, the Wild multipliers keep things ticking over, and you’re really here for the claw.
The bonus round justifies the wait better than most. Every grab is a genuine decision point – a cube value against a threshold you can see – and blue cubes can snowball a modest trigger into a long, escalating round. That escalation, not the jackpot ladder at the top of it, is the best thing here.
The weakness is everything outside the claw. The royal paytable is flat, the base wins stay small, and the two bet modes charge you real RTP for a shortcut. It’s a mid-volatility game for players who like a bonus round with theatre in it; anyone chasing brutal swings or a base game that rewards patience will find it too gentle. For the rest, this temple guards one very good idea.

Is Aztec’s Claw Wild Dice high volatility?
No. It’s a mid-volatility slot, so wins tend to arrive at a steadier rhythm than in high-variance games, with the biggest payouts reserved for the bonus round’s jackpot ladder. -
How does the Bonus Claw Game work?
3, 4 or 5 Scatters award 7, 9 or 12 Free Claw Grabs. The claw pulls coloured cubes from a pool, each worth 1x to 20x the bet. Red cubes can trigger jackpots, blue cubes add extra grabs and yellow cubes add multipliers, but only if the cube’s value meets a shown threshold in a Side Quest. -
