Big Bass Floats My Boat Slot Review
The Big Bass series is expanding once more with Big Bass Floats My Boat, courtesy of Pragmatic Play partner Reel Kingdom!
After numerous fishing trips with Reel Kingdom over the years, will the latest in the series truly ‘float our boat’? Let’s play on and find out!
Big Bass Floats My Boat Base Game and Features
Big Bass Floats My Boat is a 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot with 10 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations form when 3 or more of the same symbols (or 2 or more of the highest-paying symbol) land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€250 per spin, with plenty of options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.07% and a max win cap of 5,000x.
The highest-paying symbol here is the Boat, followed by the Fishing Rod, Dragonfly, and Tacklebox. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. Fisherman Wilds only appear in Free Spins, substituting for all other symbols except Scatter and Money symbols.
Ante Bet
Before any game round, you will be given the option to activate the Ante Bet feature. Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 50%. Once active, more Scatters are present on the reels, meaning your chances of triggering Free Spins are naturally higher.
Money Symbols
Fish symbols (also known as Money symbols) take a random value between 0.2x and 50x on every spin they appear.
Randomly in the base game, there is a chance that Money symbol values are collected and awarded. When this happens, a random Multiplier between x2 and x50 will appear on Money symbols, multiplying their values.
Scatter Feature
In the base game, whenever 2 Scatter symbols appear in view without a third, there is a chance for another to be brought into the mix by a random feature.
- Scatters on the reel set can move down via a Respin by one position without leaving the reel area.
- An octopus animation can appear, transforming one symbol on the reels into a Scatter.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 15, and 20 Free Spins respectively.
During Free Spins, each Fisherman Wild that comes into view will collect the values of all Money symbols present. In Free Spins, each reel position is equipped with a Multiplier starting at x1. Each time a Money symbol lands, the Multiplier for that position will increase by +x1.
When a Fisherman Wild hits, it will collect all Money values in view which is then multiplied by the Multiplier of the position it is on. All Fisherman Wilds that land are collected and stored in the Multiplier Trail above the reel set.
Every 4th Fisherman Wild collected will retrigger the Free Spins round, awarding an additional +10 Free Spins and an increase in reel Multipliers. Randomly, when a Fisherman Wild is present without Money symbols, the game can trigger Money symbols to appear in random reel positions.
Also, when Money symbols appear without a Fisherman Wild, an Octopus animation can trigger, pulling a random reel up to reveal a Fisherman Wild.
Lastly, when Fisherman Wilds are present without Money symbols, the Octopus can change all symbols on the screen for something else (excluding Fisherman Wilds).
Bonus Buy
Those outside the UK can participate in a Bonus Buy option, choosing from the following options.
- Free Spins – Triggers Free Spins with 3-5 Scatters for 100x your bet.
- Super Free Spins – Triggers Super Free Spins with 3-5 Scatters for 300x your bet. In Super Free Spins, retriggers are awarded when 3 Fisherman Wilds are collected.
Big Bass Floats My Boat: Our Verdict
The Big Bass series has come a long way since the first Big Bass Bonanza graced our screens in 2020. With so many new Big Bass releases since then, and with the majority of them favouring the same gameplay, it’s hard to fathom where Reel Kingdom will take the series next, if at all.
Some may be elated to see yet another Big Bass slot emerging, however, there is a strong possibility that many players gave up after the first 3 or 4 releases. The good news is that Big Bass Floats My Boat has a couple of interesting features that we’ve not yet come across in the series, but has the Big Bass series already lost its appeal?
Money symbols are still going strong here, however, Reel Kingdom has delivered an interesting twist to the reel positions they land on. When a Money symbol hits, it will activate a Multiplier between x2 and x50 for that particular reel position. These Multipliers are then applied to their respective Money symbols.
In Free Spins, the Multiplier Trail is back, but instead of awarding a Multiplier to the Fisherman Wild, it will award an additional +10 Free Spins and an increase to reel Multipliers by +x1 each retrigger. Like the others, Big Bass Floats My Boat still gives out the odd dead spin, however, thanks to the help of Mr Octopus and his ability to mingle with the reels, it’s far more promising and a lot less tilting!
