Big Stack Lumberjack Slot Review
Find the big haul in the deep forest, where raw impact and potential are all that matters in Big Stack Lumberjack, courtesy of Print Studios!
“To be a lumberjack, a man one with nature, rugged, muscular and a hit with the ladies because of it. I myself applied for the job of lumberjack before joining the Fruity Slots team. I possessed neither the muscles, the jawline nor the flannel shirt to make the cut, and my skills with an axe and cardiovascular fitness leave little to be desired” – Fruity Slots Mark
Better to leave the felling of the trees to the professionals, who you may know as Print Studios, the masterminds behind the likes of the wholesome Pine of Plinko 2, the terrifying and malevolent Darkness and the dungeon crawler Eldritch Dungeon. Print Studios are indeed quite diverse, never settling with a set theme, mechanic or trajectory with their slots.
Their latest release feels quite autumnal, very serene and quite soothing. We may be in the dead of winter, but it reminds us of a temperate October morning.
Without further ado, let’s check out Big Stack Lumberjack!
Base Game & Features
Big Stack Lumberjack is a standard 5-reel, 3-row Video Slot with 10 fixed pay lines and multiple bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€50 per spin. This game is classified as a Mid-High Volatility slot with an overall RTP of 96.18% and a max win cap of 20,000x your bet.
Wins are created when 3-5 matching symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Beech, Maple, Elm, and Spruce Trees are the game’s top-paying symbols, while the Bush, Stump, Log, and Rock make up the game’s Low-paying symbols. Each winning sequence awards a payout between 0.3x and 10x your bet.
The Trees
Each High-paying tree symbol will cover 3 vertical positions and pay 2-of-a-kind when in view. Each fully stacked Tree symbol may also award a random Multiplier, up to a maximum of x100.
Timberfall
In the base game, each fully stacked Tree symbol has a chance of being chopped down through the Timberfall Feature. When this happens, the Tree symbol will cover multiple positions from the bottom of the reel set, to the left or rightmost side of the grid.
The Eternal Oak
Throughout gameplay, the Eternal Oak grows over time. When it is fully grown, special Axe symbols are added to the reels. Each Axe symbol that hits will have the chance to chop down the Oak Tree, triggering the Ultimate Lumberjack Spins mode.
Bonus Buy
Non-UK players have access to a Bonus Buy, where Lumberjack Spins can be triggered instantly for an additional 85x their bet.
Lumberjack Spins
Landing 2, 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Wild symbols in the base game triggers the Lumberjack Spins mode, awarding 2, 5, 7, and 10 Free Spins respectively.
Please note, that Bonus Scatters act as Wilds, substituting for all paytable symbols. Landing 2-5 Bonus Scatters in a Bonus round awards between 2 and 10 Free Spins respectively.
Once the Lumberjack Spins round is triggered, you will be presented with 2 Free Spins modes – these include:
- Option 1: Awards 10 Free Spins and more falling trees (win more often)
- Option 2: Awards 7 Free Spins and higher Multipliers (win big)
Both of the above options have Unlimited Multipliers which accumulate and apply to all remaining spins. Please note, that Multipliers are only retracted from high-paying Tree symbols.
In Free Spins mode 1, Tree multipliers increase by x5, x10, x15, x20, x50, or x100 at random. This round also has a lower chance of triggering the Timberfall Feature.
Alternatively, in Free Spins mode 2, Tree multipliers increase by x1 with a higher chance of triggering the Timberfall Feature.
Unlimited Lumberjack Spins
Lastly, this game also includes an Unlimited Lumberjack Spins mode, triggered only by the Eternal Oak Feature. Once active, 7 Free Spins are awarded.
In this round, Tree Multipliers increase by a value of x5, x10, x15, x20, x50, or x100, with a higher chance of triggering the Timberfall Feature.
Our Verdict
Print Studios’ releases are always refreshing, and they’re always willing to try something fairly unique, even if they’re not sure it’ll resonate with the audience. Reapers did not conform to normality nor did Cash Defense, and Big Stack Lumberjack while more conventional than some still emits an aura of difference seldom seen by other providers.
In our experience with it, the base game wasn’t particularly eventful, though it did provide moments of excitement while showcasing features that were more frequent within its bonus rounds.
The Trees themselves present an interesting dynamic for Big Stack Lumberjack, setting up the Timberfall feature. This proved to be quite amusing, and anticipating with the attached multipliers.
Those able to buy will be able to choose between options 1 and 2 for a less or more volatile experience, and those within the UK will still be able to choose should they land the bonus naturally.
What isn’t available to buy it seems is the Ultimate Lumberjack spins, which provide the ultimate and most exciting experience. This is triggered with the Eternal Oak, which gives the game a big sense of replayability. Didn’t trigger it this time? come back and try again later – we think it’s good enough to warrant a return visit.
Overall, it’s another job well done from Print Studios. It may not be their biggest hit to date, but it’s certainly a solid addition to their forest of innovative games
