Pragmatic Play affiliate, Reel Kingdom, starts the new year off strong with a new addition to their Big Bass series!
Bigger Bass Splash sees the return of our favourite Fisherman, sunning himself in a beautiful tropical scene. This edition of the series is certainly not the last to grace our screens, with Big Bass Return to the Races debuting in late February.
Although part of the same series, Bigger Bass Splash is a follow-up of the original Big Bass Splash slot, which released in mid-2022. Switching out dirt tracks and monster trucks in favour of glorious beaches and Hawaiian shirts, you can relax and unwind whilst sipping a cold one!
Base Game & Features
Situated across 5 reels, Bigger Bass Splash is a highly volatile Video Slot with 4 rows, 12 active pay lines, and bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€200 per spin.
Wins occur when 2-5 identical symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Paytable symbols include a number of high-paying Fishing icons and low-paying card suits. Payouts between 0.2x and 200x your bet are awarded depending on the symbol win.
Money Symbols
Fish symbols from the paytable are also special Money symbols. Each fish symbol will take on a random Cash Value between 2x and 5,000x your bet, which can only be won during Free Spins.
Scatter Feature
In the base game, whenever 2 Scatter symbols land in the same spin, there is a chance for another to be brought into view by one of the following functions:
- Scatter symbols may move down one position without leaving the reel area, triggering a number of respins until one or both Scatters reach the bottom reel position.
- A hook animation can pull one of the reels up to reveal a third Scatter.
Ante Bet
Players can choose to activate the Ante Bet Feature for an additional 50% of their current bet. Once active, your chances of triggering the Free Spins round are higher.

Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10, 15, and 20 Free Spins respectively. Before the round begins, 0-5 Modifiers are applied – these include:
- More Fish: Additional money symbols are added to the reels.
- More Fishermen: Additional Fisherman Wilds are added to the reels.
- More Hooks, Dynamite, and Wipeouts: Your chance of hitting hooks, dynamite, and wipeouts are increased.
- Level 2: Begin the free spins round on Level 2 of the Retrigger Trail.
- Extra Spins: Awards +2 Free Spins.
During Free Spins, the Wild Fisherman symbol collects all Cash Prizes from fish symbols. Each fisherman wild is then added to the Retrigger Trail above the main reel set.
Every 4th Fisherman Wild retriggers the round, awarding +10 Free Spins and a Multiplier of x2, x3, and x10 for levels 2, 3, and 4 respectively. This multiplier is only applied to Money symbols.
In Free Spins, there is a random chance of triggering special Modifiers – these include:
- Fisherman Wilds minus Fish symbols: At the end of a spin, Fish symbols can be added to random reel positions via a Dynamite function.
- Fish symbols minus Fisherman Wilds: At the end of a spin, Fisherman Wilds can be pulled onto the reels via a Hook animation.
- Fisherman Wilds minus Fish symbols: At the end of a spin, a Wipeout animation can change all symbols in view into something else.
When in Super Free Spins mode, all Modifiers are active throughout the entire round.
Our Verdict
It’s clear to see that our favourite Fisherman is well and truly in holiday mode, rocking socks with sandals and a colourful Hawaiian shirt. However, the difference between this instalment and the first Big Bass Splash is not quite as obvious.
There are a couple of minor aesthetic adjustments, where the monster truck has been switched out for a speedboat and a tropical beach theme, but as a whole, the statistics, features, and free spins round are pretty much on cue with the original release. Has Reel Kingdom exhausted all ideas for the series?
In the last few Big Bass releases, Reel Kingdom has made minimal changes to gameplay and every effort to the design. After the first 5 releases, we had hoped to see some positive improvements made to the features, mechanics, and free spins round.
Unfortunately, Bigger Bass Splash has ended up a carbon copy of all other titles in the series. Even with the addition of a Super Free Spins round, Bigger Bass Splash is still missing some vital upgrades and enhancements.
