Book Of Panther Slot Review
Violet light lies on still water at the edge of a dim jungle, vines crawl over a carved stone frame, and loose leaves drift across the whole scene. Book Of Panther spends its atmosphere freely and its mechanics sparingly: the free spins round is the only feature in the game, and it’s decided before it even begins, by one wheel spin you have no say in.
Book Of Panther is Spinomenal‘s take on the book formula, built on a 5×3 grid with 10 paylines and an RTP of 96.14%. Fans of the studio’s jungle output can also find Majestic King and Wolf Fang Deep Forest in our reviews. The panther, for once, gets a jungle that suits it.
The Base Game and Paytable
Ten lines across five reels and three rows. That’s the whole engine, and it pays left to right on fixed lines, one combination per line. Wins are built from jungle animals at the top and card royals at the bottom, with the Book pulling double duty as both wild and scatter. It substitutes for any symbol, and three or more of it scattered anywhere starts the bonus.
The animal hierarchy is steep. The Panther pays from two of a kind and dwarfs everything beneath it, while the royals are thin change by comparison. Symbol values per line bet:
- Panther: 10 (x2), 100 (x3), 1,000 (x4), 5,000 (x5)
- Monkey: 5 (x2), 40 (x3), 400 (x4), 2,000 (x5)
- Toucan and Snake: 5 (x2), 30 (x3), 100 (x4), 750 (x5) each
- A and K: 5 (x3), 40 (x4), 150 (x5) each
- Q, J and 10 bring up the rear at 5, 25 and 100 for three, four and five
All four of the animals start paying from two of a kind; everything else needs three. The drop from the Panther to the Monkey is sharp at every tier, and it drops again from the Monkey to the mid-tier animals. Five Panthers on a line is worth 5,000 times the line bet, which is the biggest number anywhere in this game. Nothing else on the reels comes close to it.
In practice the royals carry most of the small wins, which is standard for the shape. A line of Js or a couple of Aces nudges the balance rather than moving it. The animals are where the real line money sits, and the Panther is the only symbol that can genuinely change a session on its own.
Scatter prizes sit on top of the line pays, paid in addition to any regular line wins on the same spin:
- Three scattered Books pay 2x
- Four pay 25x
- Five pay 250x
That top scatter step is worth pausing on. Five Books before a single free spin has run is already a 250x result, and it lands on top of whatever the triggering spin paid on its lines. The scatter ladder is the only place outside the paytable’s Panther row where this game shows real teeth.
The Book: Wild and Scatter in One
Everything routes through one symbol. The Book is the wild, the scatter, and the bonus trigger at once, which means every spin has a symbol worth watching even when the reels land nothing else. Land three or more anywhere and two things happen: an immediate scatter payout, and ten free spins.
The bet per line during the free spins round stays the same as the bet that triggered it, so a bonus bought cheap plays cheap throughout. There’s no graduated trigger either: three Books is the whole requirement, wherever they sit. Position doesn’t matter, and lines don’t matter. The scatter counts from anywhere on the grid.
Because the Book substitutes for everything, it also completes animal lines in the base game. A Panther pair with a Book in the third position is a three-of-a-kind. The symbol is quietly doing two jobs on every spin, and the game never separates them.
Free Spins and the Expanding Symbol
Before the round begins, a wheel appears showing every symbol except the Book itself. One spin of that wheel picks the expanding symbol for the entire round. Which symbol lands is out of your hands, and it changes what the round is worth: a Panther expansion and a 10 expansion are very different animals.
The gap between those two outcomes is the round’s whole character. A royal expansion will hit often, because royals land often, but each hit pays royals money. A Panther expansion is rarer and can fill multiple lines at 5,000x the line bet apiece. Everything in between – Monkey, Toucan, Snake – scales accordingly.
During the round, the chosen symbol expands after each spin’s result is settled. The expansion covers its reels to form new paylines on top of the existing ones, and it only happens where the expansion creates a win. No win, no expansion, so the mechanic never pads a losing spin with ceremony.
When it does expand, the symbol pays its full value on all ten lines, and the winning symbols don’t need to sit on consecutive reels to count. Expanded wins are tallied separately from the original spin result, so a single spin can pay twice: once on the lines, once on the expansion.
The round can retrigger. Three or more Books during free spins award another ten spins on top of whatever remains, with the same expanding symbol carried over. Line bet stays fixed throughout, so a retriggered round keeps building on the original terms rather than resetting them.
There’s also a buy feature in the interface, which skips the waiting and takes you straight into the free spins wheel at your current settings. The bet per line carries into the round exactly as it would on a natural trigger, so the maths of the buy is the maths of the bonus. No price is quoted anywhere for it, so check the button at your own stake before committing.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing this is mostly waiting for Books, and the jungle makes the waiting easier than it has any right to: purple dusk on still water is proper atmosphere for a formula that usually gets beige foliage. The one thing worth coming for is the wheel, because nothing else here asks to be remembered.
The scatter ladder is the strongest part of the build. Five Books pay 250x before the round has even started, and on ten lines that’s a number nothing but a full Panther line beats. The wheel is also the weakness: hand the expansion to a royal and the round pays royal money, with no second feature to soften it.
Wild Dawn, covered here in 2026, tidied the same idea; this is the plainer cut, and the better one for anyone who wants the book mechanic at its most direct, in short sessions at modest stakes. That’s the whole of it, and at dusk in this jungle it’s an honest deal.
