Bounty Cove Slot Review
A turquoise lagoon, a half-sunk wreck, gold heaped on the sand: Bounty Cove hides its treasure the way a real pirate would, and it makes you work for it. Red Tiger have built a slot that keeps its best moments behind a long build, gating the free spins behind hours of collection rather than handing them out early. That’s a bolder ask than almost any game in this catalogue.
It runs at 96.18% RTP in its standard configuration, with lower operator settings available down to 91.04%, alongside very high volatility, a 35.61% hit rate and a 20,000x max win. Stakes run from 0.20 to 20 per spin, and the grid can open up to 46,656 ways.
Base Game & Features
Bounty Cove plays on a five-reel grid that starts compressed and grows as you win. Every winning combination triggers a Chain Reaction: the winning symbols vanish, new ones drop in, and each winning spin adds another row to the grid. More rows mean more ways, up to 46,656 when all six rows are active.
The cascades aren’t just decoration. They’re how the grid expands, how the win ways climb, and how a single spin keeps finding extra potential after the first hit.
A standard wild also lands naturally on reel 3, substituting for all paying symbols, and on reels 3 and 4 once the game is fully unlocked. The highest-paying symbol in the game is the Pearl, and Pearls do double duty. Every one that lands on an active row feeds the progress bar sitting over reel 6.
Boarding Progress
The whole game hangs on a four-stage progress bar. Each stage needs 66 Pearl symbols to complete, and each one unlocks something new:
- Stage 1: unlocks the Young Pirate Wild
- Stage 2: unlocks the Famous Pirate Wild
- Stage 3: unlocks the Legendary Pirate Wild
- Stage 4: unlocks reel 6, adds Free Spins scatters to the reels, and enables the Second Chance feature
That final stage is the one that matters most, because free spins simply cannot trigger until it’s done. Pearls land reasonably often, but completing all four stages takes time.
This is a game that expects a long session, and it’s honest about it: progress is saved between sessions.
The Three Pirate Wilds
Each unlocked Pirate is an expanding wild that covers all active rows on its reel, and each counts as multiple symbols equal to the number of active rows when it takes part in a win. The Young Pirate is the basic version. The Famous Pirate adds a random multiplier of x2, x3, x5 or x10 to any win it joins.
The Legendary Pirate is the one worth chasing. It carries the same multipliers as the Famous Pirate, but once all six rows are active it persists across 3 winning spins instead of disappearing after one.
Multiple multiplier wilds in the same win multiply together, which is where the big numbers come from.
Grid Expansion & Second Chance
The grid itself is the base game’s engine. Wins stack rows on top of each other, and the difference between a cramped grid and a fully expanded one is enormous.
The pirate wilds grow with the rows, so a Famous Pirate on a six-row grid is doing six symbols’ worth of multiplied work. Second Chance is a random trigger on a non-winning spin, enabled only after all progress stages are complete. It unlocks all six rows for that one spin, and it doesn’t happen often. When it does, a dead spin suddenly gets a fully expanded grid to work with.
The ceiling of all that growth is 46,656 ways to win, and that figure is what makes the 20,000x max win more than a poster number. It needs the multiplier wilds stacking up on a full grid, and it isn’t easy to reach, but you can see how the game gets there.
Bounty Cove Free Spins & Bonus Features
Free Spins trigger with 3 scatters in a base spin, but only after all four Progress stages are complete. That’s the gate, and it’s the single biggest commitment the game asks for.
3 scatters award 5 Free Spins with a guaranteed Pirate on at least 1 of the middle 2 reels. Super Spins are the upgraded round: 4 or more scatters in a base spin award 5 Super Spins with 2 guaranteed Pirates on the middle 2 reels, which doubles the odds of those multiplier wilds stacking in the same win.
Retriggers are generous. 3 or 4 scatters during the round award 5 or 10 extra spins and convert everything remaining into Super Spins. Scatters beyond 4 add nothing extra, but the upgrade path means a round that starts basic can finish strong.
5 spins can feel short, especially without retriggers, and the spins whittle down quickly if the wins don’t come. The guaranteed Pirates do a lot of work holding the round together, and the retrigger-into-Super-Spins path is the difference between a modest round and a memorable one.
Feature Buy
There’s no anti-bet mechanic here, and 4 buys are available. Every purchase drops the game into its fully-progressed state, with all rows active and all features unlocked, and your saved progress is restored afterwards:
- Pirate: guarantees at least 1 Pirate, 30x stake
- Free Spins or higher: guarantees 3+ scatters, 100x stake
- 2 Pirates: guarantees 2 Pirates, 250x stake
- Super Spin: guarantees 4 scatters, 600x stake
The pirate buys deserve caution. Neither guarantees a win, so 250x for 2 Pirates can eat a balance fast if the combinations don’t land.
The free spins at 100x sits at industry standard, while the Super Spin at 600x is on the pricey side compared with other games’ premium rounds.
Our Honest Verdict
Playing Bounty Cove is a long stay on the island: sessions build slowly, the grid creeps open, and the promise is that the longer you dig, the richer the cove gets. That slow build is the whole reason to choose it over quicker pirate fare.
Its best trick is making progression visible. Every Pearl moves a bar, every win grows the grid, and by the time the multiplier pirates arrive you’ve watched the game change shape in front of you, which few slots bother to do.
The weakness is the gate itself. Holding the scatters back until all four stages are done asks a lot, and five starting spins feel thin once you’re finally through. This is a game for players who enjoy a grind that remembers them between sessions; anyone short on patience will get more from the buys than the beach. There’s real treasure here, but you have to be willing to stay for it.
