Bullet 8 Train Slot Review
A green-hulled steam locomotive idles beside a timber depot in a sun-bleached desert, and it’s a fair picture of how Bullet 8 Train plays: a slow, patient build-up that only pays off when the collecting starts. Apparat Gaming have spent their effort on the respin engine rather than the base paytable, and it shows in every spin.
The game runs on a 5×3 grid with 20 paylines at 96.10% RTP, with a prize ladder topping out at a 5,000x Grand. If you’ve played 100 Sevens – Diamond Treasures or Mummy Bomb, you’ll know the studio’s taste for tight, traditional frames. Here the frame is timber and iron, and it stays out of the way.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay across 20 fixed paylines, left to right. There are 13 symbols in all: nine standard payers, the TNT wild, the Train scatter, and the two bullet symbols that drive the collect features. The mustached cowboy in the red shirt leads the paytable, and the values below are multiples of the total bet.
- Cowboy (mustache, red shirt): 1x / 2.5x / 12.5x for three / four / five
- Cowboy (hat, red bandana): 0.5x / 1.5x / 5x
- Cowboy (dark hair, red scarf): 0.35x / 1x / 3.75x
- Native American (headband): 0.25x / 0.5x / 2.5x
- A, K: 0.15x / 0.3x / 1.5x
- Q, J, 10: 0.1x / 0.2x / 1x
- Train scatter: 5x / 10x / 50x
- Grand prize ladder: 5,000x / Bullet8 1,000x / Minor 100x / Mini 50x
The TNT wild is an expanding symbol that covers its whole reel and substitutes for everything except the Train, Bullet Base and Bullet8 symbols. It’s the only symbol in the game that expands, so when it lands, it tends to matter. It carries no value of its own; its work is done entirely through other symbols’ combinations.
The Train scatter is a different animal. It pays from anywhere in view rather than on a payline, and it’s also the key to the free games. Both roles pay off the same count: the more trains that pull into view, the better.
Rounding out the roster are the two feature symbols. The Bullet Base is the Hold & Spin symbol, carrying cash values that pay at the end of a collect sequence rather than on a payline. The Bullet8 symbol unlocks the game’s second collect feature. A prize ladder sits above the reels at all times, showing what’s on offer:
- Grand: 5,000x the bet
- Bullet8: 1,000x the bet
- Minor: 100x the bet
- Mini: 50x the bet
Bullet 8 Train Bonus Features
Hold & Spin
This is the main event, and it starts with volume: five or more Bullet Base or Bullet8 symbols anywhere in view is the entry requirement. That’s a high bar by collect-game standards, and the payoff is a three-respin round in which every triggering symbol locks in place.
From there it’s familiar respin logic. Each new Bullet Base or Bullet8 symbol that lands sticks where it is and resets the respin count to three. The two symbol types work together here, so a mix of either is equally welcome. Consecutive misses are what end the round: three in a row and the feature tallies up.
When the respins run out, all visible symbol values are summed and paid as a single win. Fill all 15 positions and the feature ends immediately with the Grand prize of 5,000x the bet, which is the game’s top prize.
The Bullet8 Feature
If a Bullet8 symbol is among those held when Hold & Spin finishes, the Bullet8 feature plays out right before the final tally. It’s a smaller collect game running on the same engine: eight positions, three respins, and every Bullet Base symbol that lands locks in and resets the count.
Only Bullet Base symbols appear in this round, and only these eight positions are in play. Fill all eight and the Bullet8 prize of 1,000x the bet is paid. Whatever the feature collects is added to the Hold & Spin win, so a single trigger can pay twice.
Free Games
The scatter route is the other way in. Three, four or five Train scatters award 8, 12 or 20 free games respectively, and the round changes the game in two specific ways.
First, the TNT wild carries a random multiplier between x2 and x5 whenever it’s part of a win. The multiplier is rolled per wild, not per round, so its value changes from win to win. Second, reels 1 and 5 hold multiple Bullet Base symbols inside a single symbol position, which makes the collect features far easier to reach than they are in the base game.
Hold & Spin and the Bullet8 feature can both trigger inside the free games, running by their standard rules. Additional free games can be won during a running series, and the additions stack on top of whatever remains. It’s the one part of the game where everything lines up: multi-symbol outer reels feeding the respin engine while multiplied wilds work the paylines.
Buy Feature
There’s a buy feature on offer for players who’d rather skip the wait, via the button in the base game interface. Buy the feature and the Hold & Spin trigger is delivered directly; the free games route still runs through the scatters.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Like the locomotive it’s named for, Bullet 8 Train spends most of its time building steam, and the people who’ll love it are the ones happy to wait for the boiler to heat up. What you’re really playing for is the free games, because that’s where the outer reels start stacking bullets and the collect rounds stop being a rare treat.
The best thing here is how the free games feed the respin engine from both ends: stacked bullet symbols on reels one and five make triggers routine, and a Bullet8 hold can stack a second payout onto the first. The weakness is the front end. Base wins are thin, the ladder’s lower rungs are barely worth the celebration, and the gaps between features stretch.
Respin and hold-and-win fans will feel right at home in the cab; anyone after frequent small hits or a lively base game will be checking their watch at the depot. It rewards patience, and there’s an honest 5,000x at the end of the line for those who have it.
