Candy Monster Slot Review
A grinning grey monster pokes his head out of a golden archway above the reels, two blue-lidded candy jars wait on gold pedestals, and a gumball machine stands packed with balls against a waffle-textured sky. Greentube’s Candy Monster looks like a slot that pays in pocket money, and that’s closer to true than it sounds: almost everything worth having here arrives from above the reels, not on them.
The reels themselves are a 5×3, 40-payline setup with a paytable that tops out at 4x the line stake. What makes it more than a donation box is the jars: every coin the game drops into them builds visibly towards the free games, and when one pops, the Monster’s four-tier prize ladder is still live inside the round. The sugar is the packaging. The jars are the argument.
Base Game & Features
The grid is a classic five-reel, three-row setup with 40 fixed paylines. Symbols are all confectionery: donuts, popsicles, lollipops, wrapped sweets and a ladder of hard candies filling out the low end.
Symbol pays are multiples of the line stake, as follows:
- Donut: 0.6x for three, 1.2x for four, 4x for five
- Popsicle: 0.3x, 0.8x, 1.6x
- Lollipop: 0.15x, 0.4x, 1x
- Wrapped Candy: 0.15x, 0.3x, 0.8x
- Heart: 0.1x, 0.25x, 0.5x
- Yellow Wedge Candy: 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.5x
- Pink Disc Candy / Green Square Candy: 0.1x, 0.15x, 0.3x
- Blue Triangle Candy / Purple Jelly Bean: 0.05x, 0.15x, 0.3x
That’s a gentle ladder. Five donuts, the best line in the game, returns four times the line stake, and the bottom tier barely covers the cost of a spin. There’s also a noticeable cliff between the top three symbols and the rest: from the Heart down, a five-of-a-kind pays half a line stake or less.
Line pays exist here to keep the balance ticking over while the jars do their work. Only the highest combination on each payline counts towards a win, so overlapping lines don’t stack the same symbol twice. The real money in Candy Monster isn’t on the reels at all. It’s above them.
The wild lands only on the centre reel and substitutes for all symbols except the scatters. That’s its whole job, and it’s a narrow one: with the middle reel as its only home, it completes lines rather than building them.
The Monster and the Bonus Prizes
The grey monster has a second role beyond grinning down from the archway. When the Monster symbol appears on screen, it unlocks on-screen bonus prizes and pays them out on the spot. There are four tiers to chase:
- Mini Bonus
- Minor Bonus
- Major Bonus
- Grand Bonus
These prizes land as coin symbols with locked cash values attached, and the Monster’s appearance is what releases them. The coins lock in place on the reels when they land, each carrying the value it will pay. When the Monster shows up, those locked values are collected and the award is paid.
A progressive jackpot sits alongside the ladder, so the top end of what the game can pay isn’t fixed by the paytable at all. The jackpot climbs as play continues, which means the Grand end of the scale is worth more the longer the game goes unclaimed.
The Mini Bonus is the entry rung and it arrives with its own banner, coin values locked in place and the Monster present to collect them. It’s a cash award, paid and done. The ladder steps up from there through Minor and Major to the Grand.
Each tier’s locked coin values are what set the size of the prize, so a bonus round is only ever as good as the coins that landed on screen when it resolved. The bigger the values locked in place, the bigger the payout the Monster hands over. No picking, no spinning a wheel: the award is the sum of what’s on the reels.
Candy Monster Bonus Features & Free Games
Those two candy jars on their gold pedestals are the game’s collection mechanic. Coins are the currency, and the jars are the bank: fill one and it pops.
How the Jars Fill
Money Jar symbols carry the coins. A single Money Jar appearing anywhere will add a coin to one or both of the jars above the reels, and there’s a special jar-symbol that guarantees a coin goes into both Money Jars when it lands.
It’s a visible, patient build. Every coin is shown going into its jar, so the progress towards the bonus is always on screen rather than hidden behind a counter.
Two jars mean two separate tracks, and the special symbol is the accelerator that keeps the build moving when ordinary jar symbols thin out. One jar can be nearly full while the other has barely started, so a run of coins always feels like it’s getting somewhere. The guaranteed double-coin symbol is the one to watch, because it’s the only way a single appearance moves both meters at once.
Free Games
When a jar pops, the free games award and the round plays out with the same grid, the same paytable and the same Monster mechanic still live. The bonus prizes don’t switch off in the free games: the Monster can still unlock Mini, Minor, Major and Grand awards mid-round, and the coin symbols still lock with their cash values when they land.
The combination is what gives the round its teeth. A free games session isn’t just line pays at no cost, it’s line pays plus a live shot at the bonus ladder plus whatever the jackpot is holding that day.
Wins that clear a high enough bar earn a banner of the game’s own choosing, spelled out in the same sugary register as everything else here. It’s a small touch, but it’s consistent with a game that never stops smiling.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.3/10
You spend your time in Candy Monster watching two jars fill, and that’s genuinely its charm: the monster grins, the coins drop, and you can always see exactly how close you are. That visible build, with a four-tier prize ladder and a climbing jackpot waiting at the end of it, is the reason to sit down at this cabinet rather than the one next to it.
The build is honest about being a build, though, and the reels don’t carry the weight while it grinds on. Line pays stop at 4x, the wild lives on one reel, and there’s no RTP published anywhere, so the long stretches between pops have nothing to recommend them but the jars themselves.
That’s fine for players who like watching a meter creep towards a payoff. Anyone who wants their wins from the reels, often and meaningfully, will go hungry in this candyland.
