Base Game & Features
Castle of Terror 2 is a highly volatile 5-reel, 4-row Video Slot from Big Time Gaming, consisting of 1,024 ways to win. Payouts between 0.5x and 1.5x your bet are applied when 2-5 matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
The 10 available high & low-paying symbols reveal Monsters, Body Parts, and A, K, Q, J, 10, & 9 card suits. Additionally, Wild symbols appear on reels 2, 3, 4, & 5, substituting for all paytable symbols when evaluating a winning combination.
Bonus Respin
Throughout each base game spin, whenever a single Scatter symbol hits, it will trigger the Bonus Respin Feature. Once active, 1 of 5 Enhanced Features is awarded, depending on which reel the triggering Scatter appeared on:
- Brain (reel 1): Guarantees to reveal additional Brain symbols on the reels
- Alive (reel 2): Triggers a random Multiplier between x3 and x10, which is applied to all wins during this feature
- Shock (reel 3): Each available Wild symbol will carry a random Multiplier between x2 and x5

Castle of Terror 2 Free Spins
The Free Spins session triggers when 2-3 Scatters land within the same base game spin, awarding 10 Free Spins. Alternatively, landing 1 or 2 Scatters during a Bonus Respin will trigger the Free Spins mode.
In this mode, depending on how many triggering Scatters accessed Free Spins, between 2 & 3 Features become active on the reels. Furthermore, a Global Multiplier, starting at x1, is persistent throughout spins, incrementing by +x1 for each winning combination.
Finally, landing 2 Scatters awards an additional +4 Free Spins, plus a further +2 Free Spins for every Scatter after the second.

Our Honest Verdict
In many ways, Castle of Terror 2 is more along the lines of the Max Megaways series than the original Castle of Terror. This game has a terrifying & thrilling vibe, mixed with high-quality graphics and charming features.
Many sequels & series from a variety of software developers often tend to stick very closely to what works well from the previous instalments. Whilst Big Time Gaming has maintained certain structures from the original release, Castle of Terror 2 presents its own content that identifies it from its sibling slot, but not too much that you wouldn’t recognise it as part of the sequel.
Thanks to the 1,024 ways to win available, you’re never far from the next payout, whether it be small or significant. To differentiate each Feature, Big Time Gaming has assigned them to individual reels, so you always know what you’re getting once it activates.
Having each Feature assigned to its own reel is a great way for players to get a feel of each attribute and to determine which, if any, are their favourites. It does seem, though, that the further away from reel 1 each Feature gets, the more appealing the potential. For example, the fifth reel feature causes all positions within it to transform into Wilds.
In a bizarre twist, only 2 Scatters are required to trigger the Free Spins mode, albeit the more you land in the triggering spin, the higher the starting number of Free Spins. At the start of Free Spins, depending on Scatters, up to 3 Features are randomly activated, which remain so until the end of the session.
While the game has many appealing attributes, the maximum win potential of 20,160x your bet isn’t one of them. Of the two instalments, it’s plain to see which is the better option, payout-wise, but is it the same for content? That’s for you to decide.
