Chomplings Slot Review
Latest out of the Print Studios factory is their latest release, Chomplings. With Print Studios, it’s never just another slot, it’s an adventure to behold. We’ve followed their journey closely throughout the years and were there for their humble beginnings in Book of Destiny, their bold step into the shadows with Darkness and their more ambitious releases, which led a conversation on the gamification of slots with titles like Cash Defense.
Print Studios rarely rests on their laurels with safe releases, nor do they intend to with Chomplings. Their intriguing new release takes us on a journey to space where they throw players headfirst into a grid-based frenzy where four ferocious (and adorable) monsters battle for delicious gems.
At first glance, it’s reminiscent of ELK Studios Pirots Mechanic, but there’s more beneath the surface, supercharged by Print Studios’ signature aptitude for innovation.

Base Game & Features
In true Print Studios fashion, their latest release, Chomplings, is anything but your average Video Slot. Trading a regular reel set for a maze of sorts, Chomplings has 8 fixed reels and rows with a variation of bet sizes between £.€0.20 and £.€50 per spin. Other attributes include an overall RTP of 96.10% and a sizable max win cap of 20,000x your bet.
Chomplings
Instead of multiple high and low-paying symbols, each spin holds 4 individual Chomplings: Wingrid (blue), Rocky (red), Zuck (green), and Gemma (yellow). They each have an insatiable hunger for little Green Gems, among others, strewn across the grid. The more these greedy little monsters eat, the more you win.
Chomplings begin in the farthest corner of the grid. If a wall blocks their path, the Chomplings can stomp the ground and try to knock it down. When all Chomplings have stopped moving, there’s a chance the walls will rotate, creating new movement possibilities. If certain Chomplings come together, they may devour each other, powering up their special Head Gear:
- Wingrid: Flutters to distant regions when the region is cleared.
- Rocky: Hammers down any wall in its path after a region is cleared.
- Zuck: Consumes gems from another region.
- Gemma: Upgrades all regular Gem symbols to Premium. If only premium symbols exist, their values are increased.

The Win Meter
As the Chomplings eat, the Progress Bar below the main grid will fill. Once the Win Meter is full, the total win amount, times the displayed Multiplier, is applied to your total win for the round.
Gems
The 6 individually-coloured Gems can appear in a Regular or Premium form on the grid. If the Chomplings devour premium Gems, the Win Meter will increase significantly.
Special Symbols
In addition to Gem symbols, Chomplings can reveal one of the following Special Symbols:
- Multiplier Rocks: Reveal multipliers between x2 and x100 when in view
- Eggs: Hatch up to 4 Chomplings
- Wormhole: Allows a Chompling to pass through to reach new grid areas
- Instant Prize: Awards an instant cash prize of 10x, 25x, 50x, or 100x your bet

Feature Bet
- Small Snack: Triggers a guaranteed win (4x your bet)
- Big Bite: Increases the chance of triggering special features and valuable symbols (100x your bet)
- Chomping Chaos: Guarantees a win, increases the chance of special features/valuable symbols, and upgrades all Gems to premium (300x your bet)
Our Verdict
Print Studios are risk takers, there’s no denying that. Some gamblers aren’t open to the idea of innovation. Some want classic fruit symbols, bells, 7s and BARS, and others, at the very least, want reels that spin in the traditional sense. We think they’d agree that some of their more tenacious releases have been well-received by the open-minded, and disregarded by those set in their ways.
Chomplings is risky for this reason – it’s different, but we love that about Print Studios. Chomplings stands out with its capabilities, but also with uniqueness, personality and ingenuity. Sure, it takes a while to understand the gist of it, which is a learning curve that may be off-putting, but it’s a testament to Print Studios’ willingness to take those risks.
Some have a hit, and then milk it dry (cough cough, big bass bonanza), so kudos is due to those who try different things, in our opinion. We’d describe this slot as lovable, and when it really starts cranking, we’d even go as far as saying that it’s a nail-biting experience. The layers of its stages give it depth and a sense of progression, and its multiplier win meter gives it a hearty dash of anticipation.
Chomplings is no ‘masterpiece’. We can think of plenty from Print Studios that we prefer, but many aren’t quite as clever, which is why we commend it.
