Cloudforge Slot Review
The cabin is all brass and rivets, daylight clouds rolling past the portholes while a green mechanical insect crawls across the glass outside. Cloudforge is built on a single bet: that multiplication alone can carry a slot, and that a wild which grows, doubles and collides with its own kind is worth more than any collection meter or tumble the genre could offer instead.
It’s a confident design, because if that bet is wrong there’s nothing behind it. From Relax Gaming, it runs a 6×5 grid with 20 paylines at 96.10% RTP, and it sits nearer the Money Train 4 end of the studio’s catalogue than the Temple Tumble Megaways end, with a family resemblance to Dead Man’s Trail in how patiently the bonus builds.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay across 20 fixed lines on a 6×5 grid, with combinations running from the leftmost reel. Only the highest combination on each line counts. The top of the paytable belongs to the goblin and his hardware, the middle to guns, potions and instruments, and the bottom to a run of eggs and fittings.
- Purple Goblin – 1.5x, 4.5x, 15x and 50x for three to six of a kind
- Red Gun / Yellow Potion – 1x, 3x, 10x and 25x
- Green Scope Gun / Compass – 0.5x, 1.5x, 6x and 12.5x
- Pink Gem / Red Gear – 0.3x, 1x, 3x and 8x
- Acorn / Olive Egg – 0.2x, 0.6x, 1.5x and 6x
- Blue Egg / Pink Egg – 0.1x, 0.5x, 1x and 4x
Six-of-a-kind is where the real money sits, and only the goblin gets anywhere near it: fifty times the stake for a full line. Below him, the values fall away steeply. The wild substitutes for every paying symbol, and it’s the only symbol in the game with somewhere to go. When one lands, it doesn’t stay put.
Expanding Wilds
Any wild that lands expands upwards, one position at a time, and the multiplier it carries climbs by 1x for each step of that expansion. The process runs from wherever the wild stopped, so its landing position decides how far it can travel. A wild near the bottom of a tall reel has the most room to grow, which gives symbol position a weight it doesn’t usually carry on a fixed-line grid.
Electric Reels
At random, reels turn electric. A wild landing on an electric reel expands upwards and then downwards until it fills the entire reel, and once the expansion finishes, the multiplier doubles.
It’s the upgraded version of the base expansion, and it can turn a modest wild into a full-reel multiplier in a single spin. Everything else on the reel gets out of the way to accommodate it.
Coinciding Wilds
Two wilds can land on the same reel. The top one expands first, then the bottom one, and when the two meet, their multipliers multiply rather than add. That’s the one place in the base game where two separate expansions combine into a single figure, and a full reel of wild working together is worth considerably more than either half was alone.
Scatters count into the round pressure dial on the right of the reels, and the brass lever gauge on the left carries the bet modifiers. Three scatters opens the main event, and the super scatter unlocks the better version of it.
Cloudforge Free Spins & Bonus Features
Two rounds share one system, and which one you get depends on the scatter combination that lands:
- Three scatters – awards eight Extermination Spins
- Two scatters + one super scatter – awards eight Eradication Spins
- Three scatters during either round – awards three additional spins
Extermination Spins
Eight free spins, and one shared pot. During the round, every wild that lands adds its multiplier to a single global multiplier, and all wins are multiplied by that global figure. The wilds themselves still expand and still carry their own multipliers as they do it, so each one contributes the value it finished with, not the value it started at.
Retriggers are straightforward: three more scatters award three additional spins, so a long round can keep extending itself while the multiplier keeps climbing. The two systems feed each other, since more spins means more wilds, and more wilds means a bigger figure applied to whatever lands next.
Eradication Spins
Two scatters plus one super scatter also award eight spins, with the same global-multiplier system, and one upgrade: a random reel is guaranteed to be electric on every spin. Since electric reels double a wild’s multiplier after it expands, those figures feed into the global pot at twice the rate, and the round compounds faster as a result.
It’s the version of the bonus the whole game is angled towards, and the super scatter is the symbol to watch for.
Bet Modifiers
Three optional systems change what a spin costs and what it can do, and each works differently:
- Wild Feature Spins – guarantees extra wilds on every spin
- Enhanced Bet – adds 250% to the base stake, shown as 2.5x in the interface, and quadruples the probability of entering Extermination Spins
- Bonus Reels – removes all regular paying symbols from the grid to significantly improve the chances of triggering the bonus round
The three can’t all be judged the same way. Enhanced Bet buys frequency at a known price, while Bonus Reels trades the entire base game for trigger chances, which is the more radical of the two bets on the table. Wild Feature Spins is the quietest of the three, paying out in wilds rather than scatters.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Cloudforge spends its whole base game building pressure and pays it out in one place, and the airship setting suits that pace better than it has any right to. The one reason to climb aboard is the bonus: a number that never comes back down, fed by every wild that lands.
The strength is Eradication Spins, where the guaranteed electric reel means the global multiplier compounds twice as fast and every retrigger is worth more than the last. The weakness is the waiting: between scatters there’s a steep paytable and the occasional expanding wild, and not much else to hold onto.
It’s a game for players who enjoy a long, quiet climb towards one big number, and anyone who wants the reels to pay their way while they wait will find the journey lonely. Bring patience and a bankroll to match, and the view from altitude is worth it.
