Clusterfck Slot Review
A violet nebula bleeds across the bottom of the screen, pinprick stars scattered over it, while a grid of glossy gems floats in the empty black above. Strip away the neon and Clusterfck is the purest chase-the-chain slot you’ll find: a game that pays almost nothing for any single win and bets everything on how long one spin can keep tumbling. Yolted have built nothing else into it, and that single-mindedness is either its whole appeal or its whole problem.
There are no paylines. Wins come from clusters of five or more connected symbols on a honeycomb grid, with payouts calculated against the total stake. It’s a lean, unusual construction, and it holds together well.
Base Game & Features
The grid is a honeycomb: hexagonal cells arranged in columns of varying height, with every cell bordering the two cells beneath it. That shape matters more than it sounds. Because connections run diagonally as well as vertically, a cluster can snake in any direction, which makes far more shapes viable than a square grid would.
A winning cluster pays and clears, and the symbols above tumble down into the gaps. If the cell directly below a symbol is taken, it slides into the open diagonal cell instead, and the game resolves drops in a fixed order: column by column from the left, bottom of each column first. New symbols then drop in from the top, and a chain can run for any number of tumbles.
The wild substitutes for any gem symbol and never pays on its own. Its real job is in the features section below, where it carries a charge and feeds a multiplier.
Six gem colours fill the grid, and each pays for clusters of five up to ten or more connected symbols, with values shown as multiples of the total bet:
- Teal and Pink – 5 symbols: 0.2x, 6: 0.3x, 7: 0.5x, 8: 1x, 9: 1.8x, 10 or more: 5x
- Topaz and Ruby – 5 symbols: 0.1x, 6: 0.3x, 7: 0.4x, 8: 0.6x, 9: 1.2x, 10 or more: 4x
- Amethyst – 5 symbols: 0.1x, 6: 0.2x, 7: 0.3x, 8: 0.5x, 9: 1x, 10 or more: 2.4x
- Sapphire and Quartz – 5 symbols: 0.1x, 6: 0.2x, 7: 0.3x, 8: 0.4x, 9: 0.8x, 10 or more: 2x
- Emerald – 5 symbols: 0.1x, 6: 0.2x, 7: 0.2x, 8: 0.3x, 9: 0.6x, 10 or more: 1.5x
The spread is tight. Even the top symbols only reach 5x the stake for a ten-cluster, so individual wins are small by design. The money in this game is in the chains, not the clusters that start them.
Payouts scale with the total bet, so a cluster of nine Teals at any stake level is always worth 1.8x whatever you’re wagering. Change the bet and every value in the table moves with it.
Clusterfck Bonus Features & Free Spins
Clusterfck has no free spins round and no separate bonus game. Its features are two modifiers that live inside the base game, and they do all the work between them. Here’s what triggers each one:
- Tumble – triggers on every winning cluster; the cluster clears and symbols above fall into the gaps
- Charged Wild – arrives on the grid carrying a charge from 2 to 10, shown on the symbol
- Multiplier meter – starts at x1 on every spin; rises by x1 for each wild that spends its last charge during a chain
Tumble Chains
This is the engine of the whole game. A winning cluster clears, everything above settles into the gaps using the fixed drop order, new symbols fill whatever’s left empty, and any new clusters that form pay too. There’s no cap on how long a chain can run.
Because the honeycomb allows diagonal movement, tumbles reshuffle the grid in ways that are hard to read at speed. A symbol that slides diagonally rather than dropping straight down can end up adjacent to matches it was nowhere near a moment earlier. If two symbols could fall into the same cell, the lower and further-left one settles there first, so every tumble resolves the same way every time.
Long chains build themselves as much as they’re built. Each tumble is a fresh grid, and the fixed resolution order means a run of three or four tumbles can rearrange nearly everything on screen.
Charged Wilds & The Multiplier Meter
Wilds arrive on the grid carrying a charge between 2 and 10, shown on the symbol itself. Unlike gems, a wild isn’t removed when its cluster wins. It loses one charge for each winning tumble it takes part in and keeps substituting until the charges run out.
When a wild spends its last charge, it’s consumed and flies to the multiplier meter, raising the win multiplier by x1. The multiplier resets to x1 on every spin and applies to the following tumble, so a chain has to run deep before the meter does anything.
That’s the design in a sentence: short chains pay small, and several drained wilds stacking onto the meter during one long run is where the real money sits. A chain that fizzles after two tumbles earns you nothing from the wilds it burned. A chain that drains four of them is running every subsequent win through a x5 meter or better.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing Clusterfck is mostly waiting for the grid to catch fire. For all the neon and starfield out front, what you actually do is watch small clusters pop, one after another, hoping a chain survives long enough for the wilds to matter. When it finally does, there’s a real payoff, and it’s the one reason to sit down here: no other game makes a single spin feel like this much of a slow burn.
The diagonal honeycomb is the best thing here. It means every tumble rearranges the grid in ways nobody can read at speed, so long chains feel discovered rather than scripted. The weakness is just as clear: with no free spins, no bonus round and a paytable that tops out at 5x for a single cluster, the many spins where nothing chains together pay close to nothing.
So it suits one kind of player: the one who’d rather work a single mechanic hard than collect features. Anyone who wants bonus rounds to break up the base game will find this void a lonely place. For the chain-chasers, though, Yolted have built exactly their sort of galaxy.
Clusterfck FAQs
-
How many paylines does Clusterfck have?
Clusterfck doesn’t use paylines. Wins are cluster pays: match five or more connected symbols anywhere on the honeycomb grid and the cluster pays. -
What is the grid size of Clusterfck?
Clusterfck runs on a hexagonal honeycomb grid, with columns of varying height and every cell bordering the two cells beneath it, so clusters can form in any direction. -
Who makes Clusterfck?
Clusterfck is made by Yolted. -
How do wins form in Clusterfck?
A winning cluster is five or more matching symbols joined together. Every cluster on the grid pays, its symbols are removed, and the symbols above tumble down to fill the gaps, which can create new clusters and extend the chain. -
What do Charged Wilds do in Clusterfck?
Each wild arrives with a charge between 2 and 10. It substitutes for any gem symbol, never pays on its own, and loses one charge for every winning tumble it takes part in. Once its charges run out, it’s consumed and adds x1 to the win multiplier. -
How does the multiplier meter work in Clusterfck?
The multiplier starts at x1 on every spin and is applied to the following tumble. Every wild that spends its last charge raises it by x1, so the biggest multipliers build during long chains that drain several wilds. -
Is there a free spins bonus in Clusterfck?
No. Clusterfck has no free spins round or separate bonus feature; the tumble chains and Charged Wilds are the entire game. -
How much do symbols pay in Clusterfck?
Payouts are multiples of the total bet. The top Teal and Pink gems pay 0.2x for a five-cluster up to 5x for ten or more, while the remaining gems pay between 0.1x and 4x depending on symbol and cluster size. -
How long can a tumble chain run in Clusterfck?
There’s no limit. A chain continues for as many tumbles as new clusters keep forming, and every tumble can set up the next one, so the longest chains are where the biggest multipliers build. -
Do wilds disappear when they’re part of a winning cluster in Clusterfck?
No. A wild stays on the grid after its cluster wins, losing one charge per winning tumble it takes part in, and only leaves when its charges are gone.
