Our Verdict
Danger High Voltage was a huge hit, and it still is. It was electricity on the reels with unique features and a double bonus round at a time when many slots were still quite standard. Nostalgia is a pretty big factor when you look back in fondness on anything, but we dare say that Danger High Voltage 2 feels underwhelming in contrast.
Statistically, it is more capable than the original by a long shot, but it doesn’t seem to retain the charming personality that made the first famous. Sequels are a dangerous game, and there’s an argument to say that when you’ve crafted gold you should just leave it there. Danger High Voltage 2 doesn’t feel like a sequel that ignites the reels in the same way, but we wonder if we’d have thought more highly of it if it was a slot in its own right, rather than riding on the coattails of a legend.
There’s a lot to praise and readers may think that we’re unfair in our seemingly harsh judgement, but we just can’t see ourselves looking back on Danger High Voltage 2 with anything resembling the kind of affection that we feel for the original.
Mikstake it not for a failure – it’s well worth a go and even convincing in many ways, but there’s more to a game than just statistics. The art form of creating slots consists of factors beyond just capabilities.
