Egypt Megaways from Red Tiger is the latest in their Megaways portfolio, and this time we’re heading back to the tried and true Egyptian pyramids.

Red Tiger has a long-established history of Megaways slots with some great smash hits like Blood Suckers Megaways, Gonzo’s Quest Megaways and more.

Will the humbly named Egpyt Megaways stand out? Let’s take a look.

Egypt Megaways – The Base Game and Features

Egypt Megaways is a 6-reel Megaways Slot with up to 117,649 ways to win.

Forming a win requires at least 3 of any symbol to connect from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel. Winning combinations disappear, leaving room for new symbols to fall into place via a cascade.

So far, Egypt Megaways sounds rather standard, but Red Tiger have some tricks up their sleeve to make it deviate from the norm

Wild Reels & Eye of Horus Scatter

Each of the middle reels has 4 lights above it. Landing an Eye of Horus Scatter on certain reels activates one of the lights above the same reel. When all 4 lights are lit up, the Reel is covered with a Super Wild.

The Super Wild stays locked until all 4 lights deactivate. One light is deactivated each time the Super Wild participates in a win, or after a spin.

The middle 2 reels begin with the first 2 lights already activated, but after spawning a Super Wild they’ll gradually deactivate until all 4 go out.

The Super Wild covers an entire reel and comes with a ways multiplier between x2 and x7.

Wilds substitute for all paying symbols and count as the symbol which forms the longest winning combination on a single win way.

Landing 3 Scatter symbols anywhere in view triggers Free Spins.

Before the round starts, players must choose 1 of 3 bonus round variations

• 12 Free Spins with 1 Super Wild
• 8 Free Spins with 2 Super Wilds
• 3 Free Spins with 3 Super Wilds. 

The chosen Super Wilds are always present, but they’ll randomise their position between the middle 4 reels or remain in the same position.

Super Wilds are destroyed when they participate in a win, but they’ll return at the start of the next spin.

The Free Spins round starts with an x1 Win multiplier, but it increases by +1 up to a maximum of x15.

Beware of disconnections when you play Egypt Megaways. Red Tiger has a ‘Bonus Auto-Complete’ function that chooses the bonus round variation for the player if the game loses connection, is closed or restarts. Bonus hunters should make a choice before closing the game, or ideally not close it at all.

Egypt Megaways – Our Verdict

Egypt Megaways is a fine example of a Megaways slot done well, but it’s by no means the best, or even anywhere near as exciting as the likes of Blood Suckers Megaways.

The Super Wild mechanic makes it because without it you’ve just got a bog standard Megaways slot, of which there are too many. Through testing the game ourselves we were fairly impressed with how Egypt Megaways conducted itself. There’s no top tracker but it can still reach 117,649 ways, and the multiplier addition to the Super Wild really adds to its attraction.

In Free Spins, Egypt Megaways gives players the choice. 12 Free Spins and 1 Super Wild seems a bit tame, and 3 Free Spins with 3 Super Wild looks rather volatile. It’s the player’s choice, but our results seemed to be better with the middle option.

Overall, Egypt Megaways probably won’t live rent-free for eternity in the mind of gamblers, but it’s a well-put-together slot with great graphics, staple mechanics and decent potential.
