Flodder Slot Review 2024
The Flodder family are always up to no good, only this time we get to tag along and witness the carnage unfold in Red Tiger’s latest release, Flodder!
For those that don’t know, Flodder is a 1986 Dutch comedy movie directed and written by Dick Maas. Meet the Flodders, a dysfunctional and rather anti-social family that are forced to leave their current state-owned home after a toxic waste dump has been found brewing underneath it. Social worker Sjakie takes this as an opportunity to place the family in an upper-class neighborhood as part of an experiment…which only ends in chaos and mayhem.
In terms of design, Red Tiger has summed up Flodder to a T, showing the absolute brutality and madness that seems to follow this family. The background puts us outside the Flodder’s house with a shiny Pink car with a personalised number plate on the right, rubbish splayed across the front garden and ladies underwear clinging to the top of the letterbox and roof.
Red Tiger has put the Flodder stamp on their low-paying symbols too, with banana peelings, ladies underwear, Knives and Money in each corner. The highest paying symbols all represent the Flodder family, with one voluptuous lady in particular, standing out from the rest.
Flodder Betting and Symbols
Flodder has a limited selection of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet avaialble here is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€10 per spin, with a handful of other options in between the two.
In terms of symbols, all the premium symbols represent the Flodder family, including Ma, Johnnie, Kees, Zoon Kees and their four-legged companion, Whisky. Low paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.
Wild symbols substitute for all high and low-paying symbols.
Flodder Base Game and Features
Flodder is a 5 reel slot with 25 fixed paylines. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbol types from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
There is plenty going on in the theme, but what kind of crazy can we expect from the base game? One of the eldest members of the family, Grandpa Flodder has been transformed into a base game feature, which can also activate during the Free Spins round. More on this below.
Grandpa Flodder
During any random spin in either the base game of Free Spins, Grandpa Flodder can randomly speed across your screen.
Once he does this, he will wave his stick and drop between 2 and 12 Wild symbols in random positions on the reels. This feature may not seem like much compared to other thrilling features we’ve come across, but it fills a void and has the potential to deliver some nice big wins.
Flodder Free Spins
Landing 3 or more Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins. Before Free Spins can commence, you will be given 3 Picks in the Free Spins Picker, which establishes your Free Spins setup. Each additional Scatter that lands after the initial 3 that is required, awards +1 extra Pick in the Free Spins Picker.
Free Spins Picker
During the Free Spins Picker, you will be greeted by 20 Drinks bottles. Each drinks bottle has a unique Modifier hidden behind it. Using your awarded Picks, choose your drinks bottles and hope for the best setup. Here are your possible Modifier outcomes.
- Extra Spins – Awards +2,+3, +4, +5 or +10 additional Free Spins.
- Multipliers – Adds +1 or +2 to the current Multiplier.
- Sjakie Wild – Awards a 1×3 Super Wild to either the 2nd and/or 4th reel for the duration of Free Spins.
- Wild Johnnie Flodder – Transforms all Johnnie symbols to Wilds.
- Wild Ma Flodder – Transforms all Ma symbols to Wilds.
If you reveal one of the Multipliers, all winning combinations are multiplied by its total value. The maximum Multiplier that can be reached is x8, and the Multiplier will automatically reset at the end of the Free Spins round. The remaining Modifers are pretty standard, doing exactly what it says on the tin.
Flodder: Our Verdict
The Flodder family may be a little rough around the edges, but they certainly know how to have a good time.
Their shenanigans probably do not benefit many other residents in this formerly quiet and quaint neighbourhood, but they can certainly benefit you.
Flodder shows ample potential in both the Base Game and Free spins thanks to trusty old Grandpa Flodder and the exciting Free Spins picker feature, where you custom build the imminent carnage with Wilds, Multipliers and extra spins…or if you’re lucky Sjaki might make an appearance.
In terms of win potential, Flodder looks rather attractive yet again with a 7,564x maximum win cap, and although it doesn’t quite follow the trend of other super volatile slots, it certainly still sounds nice. Whether or not Flodder can realistically reach this figure still remains to be seen, but we were certainly impressed with what the Flodder family could do if they decide to cause a ruckus.
Flodder and its dutch background may well make Flodder a mystery to anyone but dutch people, but the Flodder slot is as good an introduction to this dysfunctional family than the show itself is.
