Fruity Summer Slot Review
Turquoise water rolls onto a sandy shore, sun glints drift across the sea, and the reels sit in front of it all like a fruit stall on the promenade. Fruity Summer’s one clever piece of construction is hidden right in that paytable: its best-paying symbol is knotted to the feature trigger, because three or four Wilds pay nothing at all unless a bonus sun lands behind them. Spinomenal have taken the plainest fruit machine imaginable and wired the top of it into the bonus round.
That knot is the interesting part. It runs on a 5×3 grid with 25 paylines, and one big feature: a sun-symbol collect round with a jackpot ladder attached, closer in spirit to the studio’s Majestic King or Wolf Fang Eclipse than to anything revolutionary. A simple recipe, with a Mega Jackpot paying 1,000x the total bet waiting behind the sixth sun.
Wild Sevens and the Paytable
The reels carry five tiers of symbols, and the gaps between them are steep. The Diamond leads, the four fruits at the bottom all pay identically, and everything in between steps down in orderly fashion. Here’s the full ladder for three, four and five of a kind:
- Diamond – 25 / 250 / 500
- BAR – 20 / 150 / 400
- Watermelon – 15 / 100 / 300
- Grapes – 10 / 50 / 200
- Plum, Orange, Lemon and Cherry – 5 / 20 / 50
The shape of the ladder tells you most of what the base game is about. Five Diamonds at 500 is the richest line in the game. From there it’s a long drop to the 50 that five cherries pay.
The four low fruits are interchangeable, so the bottom of the board is where most of the small wins live. Wins pay across the 25 fixed lines, and only the highest combination on each line counts. That’s the whole of the line mechanics – there’s nothing exotic hiding in the win evaluation.
The 7 Wild sits at the top of that ladder, paying like the Diamond, and it counts as any symbol except the bonus suns. One quirk: three or four Wilds only pay when a Bonus symbol follows them. That ties the game’s best-paying symbol to the same symbol that lights the feature.
It’s an unusual arrangement, and it means a near-miss of Wilds can be worth more than it looks if a sun happens to trail them. A line of sevens that would be dead in any other fruit machine comes alive here, provided the scatter lands behind it.
Extra Wilds
While the reels are spinning, between four and seven Wild symbols can appear at once, boosting the chances of a line landing. It’s the only base-game flourish beyond the standard spins. There’s no skill or timing to it – the Wilds simply show up mid-spin or they don’t.
Because the Wild pays like a Diamond, a cluster of sevens can assemble the game’s biggest paying combinations in a single go. What it does do is break up the rhythm of a paytable this steep, giving plain spins a ceiling they wouldn’t otherwise have. Between this and the sun-follows-Wilds rule, the seven is doing more work here than in most fruit machines.
The Sun Bonus Game
Six or more scattered bonus suns trigger the bonus game, and the triggering symbols lock in place as the screen transitions to a 5×3 grid of fifteen spots. Every sun that landed stays where it fell, so the more you trigger with, the fewer empty spots stand between you and the top of the ladder. You start with three spins.
Each spin, the empty spots can randomly award prizes, and the ladder steps up sharply at the top:
- A multiplier of your total bet, from x1 to x10
- Mini Jackpot – pays 30x the total bet
- Major Jackpot – pays 100x the total bet
- Mega Jackpot – pays 1,000x the total bet, awarded only for filling all fifteen spots
The reset rule is what gives the round its shape: any landing that isn’t an empty spot sets the spins back to three, so a run of filled spots keeps the round breathing. The round only ends when the spins run out with nothing new landing, or when the board is completely full. Fill it, and the Mega lands on top of every prize already collected.
The 1,000x Mega sits at the top of the bonus-game ladder, awarded for filling all fifteen spots in addition to your bonus prizes. When the round closes, the values on the suns are summed and paid as one bonus win. Nothing carries over between rounds; each trigger stands on its own.
Because the triggering suns are already locked in place at the start, a six-sun trigger begins with six of the fifteen spots filled and a full nine spots left to cover for the Mega. A rarer trigger with more suns shortens that climb further. Every extra sun in the trigger is one fewer spot standing between you and the top of the ladder.
The three-spin clock is the round’s whole character. Early landings extend everything, and each stretch of empty spins brings the round one step closer to closing with whatever’s been gathered. It’s a familiar collect format, executed cleanly and with a ladder tall enough to matter.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
This is a deckchair game. You settle into a steep, old-fashioned paytable with the sea in the background, the Wild-behind-a-sun quirk gives plain spins the occasional surprise, and otherwise you wait for six suns. The bonus round is the whole reason to sit down at it.
The round rewards patience properly, too. The three-spin reset means a run of landings keeps stretching the round, and the ladder pays out for it: a full board is 1,000x plus every prize gathered on the way. The weakness is everything outside that round. Between suns there’s only the top-heavy paytable and the Extra Wilds, which is thin company by any standard.
Players who want a feature every few minutes will drift off long before the collect round arrives. But for anyone happy to soak in a classic fruit layout and wait the bonus out, it’s an easy game to like, and the beach is pleasant company while you do.
