Highway to Hell Slot Review
Today, we’re saddling up and tearing down the devil’s motorway in Highway to Hell, Nolimit City‘s latest hell-raising release. Highway to Hell is outlaw life made manifest, forged in fire, rubber and disregard for the law.
Highway to hell throws you headfirst into the blazing world of MC Hellbound, a gang of gnarly undead bikers with that trademark Nolimit City madness. Highway to hell is unapologetically loud, with characters that ride fast, die hard and burn through the reels, leaving carnage in their wake.
Nolimit City aren’t known for tameness, whether it be through extreme volatility, controversial themes, or both in unison. Highway to Hell like their latest release Blood Diamond doesn’t break volatility barriers, but it does go full-throttle in attitude

Base Game & Features
Nolimit City’s Highway to Hell is an extremely volatile 6-reel Video Slot featuring 1,296 ways to win and a variation of bet sizes between £.€0.10 and £.€100 per spin. The game begins with a 4-4-4-4-4-4 reel configuration, offering an overall RTP of 96.03% and a sizable max win cap of 20,066x your bet.
Highway to Hell has 5 High-paying (skeleton rider) symbols and 5 Low-paying (mixed icon) symbols available. Wins occur when 3-6 identical symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Depending on the winning symbol type, payouts between 0.1x and 2x your bet are awarded.
The bottom positions of reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 reveal Locked Enhancer Cells. Winning combinations will explode, allowing new symbols to drop in from above via an Avalanche Feature. With each win, an Enhancer position is unlocked, starting from left to right. Each enhancer cell reveals a symbol once it is unlocked. If the revealed symbol is removed, a new symbol will take its place on the next avalanche.
Avasplit Effect
After winning symbols are removed from the reels, some of the remaining symbols are randomly selected for the Avasplit Effect feature, increasing their size by +1.
Wilds & xNudge Wilds
During gameplay, regular Wilds and xNudge Wilds can randomly land on any reel. When an xNudge Wild appears partially in view, it will nudge up or down until it is fully visible on the reel. Each nudge increases the xNudge Multiplier by +x1.
If an xNudge Wild crosses over an existing xNudge Wild, its Multiplier is added to the new xNudge Wild Multiplier. Please note, that xNudge Wilds will not nudge down onto locked Enhancer Cells. In addition, xNudge Wilds can also receive a higher starting Multiplier if it originates from a Hellevator Booster with an existing Multiplier.
Demon
when the Demon symbol hits, it will remove a random number of symbols from the reel area. Symbols that are larger than 1 instance cannot be removed by the Demon symbol. After this, it will transform into a random high or low-paying symbol with an active Multiplier equal to the number of symbols it removed.
If a win is generated, the Demon symbol will trigger after all winning symbols are removed from the reel set. If no symbols are removed, it will automatically transform into a high or low-paying symbol with a Multiplier of x1.
xWays & xSplit
xWays symbols will always transform into high-paying, low-paying, or Wild symbols from the paytable. Once in view, it will reveal 2-4 instances of the same symbol and increase the number of ways to win. If more than 1 xWays symbol hits in the same spin, they will always reveal the same symbol type.
xSplit symbols cause all symbols on their respective reel to split into doubles. After this, the xSplit symbol will transform into a Wild symbol. xSplit symbols can split all symbols except Scatters.
God Mode
Chase the max win cap of 20,066x your bet by landing a Maxwin symbol on any of the 4 Enhancer Cells for a cost of 3,800x your bet.

Nolimit Booster & Bonus Buy
- xBet: Guarantees a Bonus Scatter on reel 1 (2.4x your bet)
- Bonus Hunt: Guarantees blank symbols on the reels, while Scatters and Hellevator Booster symbols may land randomly. Blank symbols do not have a payout value, but the payout for other symbols is not affected (15x your bet)
- 8 Hell Spins: Instantly trigger this mode with guaranteed 3 Scatters (60x your bet)
- 8 Hell Spins with 1 Hellevator Booster: (100x your bet)
- 8 Hell Spins with 2 Hellevator Boosters: (180x your bet)
- 8 Hell Spins with 3 Hellevator Boosters: (350x your bet)
- Mystery Buy: A 30%/20%/30%/20% for the above options respectively (162x your bet)
Hell Spins
Landing 3 Scatter or Hellevator Booster symbols in the base game triggers Hell Spins, awarding 8 Free Spins. If a Hellevator Booster lands during the Free Spins trigger or feature, it will persist on the reel area throughout the round.
The Hellevator Booster symbol reveals a random symbol and cannot be removed by the Demon symbol. If the revealed symbol participates in a win, it is removed and a new symbol becomes visible on the next avalanche event.
When the Hellevator Booster receives a Multiplier, its value is stored and progress is carried over throughout the feature. When an xNudge Wild increases the multiplier of the Hellevator Booster, it will last for the current spin, after which, it reverts to its previous value at the end of the spin.
In this round, Scatter symbols are collected when they appear and progress the Scatter Meter. When 3 Scatters are collected, an additional +2 Free Spins are awarded and a Hellevator Booster is added to the reel area for the next spin. Once 3 Scatters are collected, the Scatter Meter resets.

Extra Spin
There is an opportunity for players to purchase an additional Spin once Hell Spins ends. The additional spin will keep the Hellevator Multipliers from the previous spin.
The cost of the Extra Spin will vary depending on the Hellevator Multipliers. If the cost of the extra spin is less than or equal to your overall win of Hell Spins, then the Extra Spin option will present itself.

Our Verdict
Nolimit City are strange – a release like this one that isn’t particularly groundbreaking for them would but amongst the S-tier games if it belonged to another provider. In some ways, they’re victims of their own success. When you release the likes of Mental 2 and other juggernauts, anything that doesn’t completely reinvent the wheel can feel like it is flying under the radar
However, make no mistake – Highway to Hell still packs a punch with pure ferocity, and it’s all thanks to those ever-effective xMechanic features that we love so much. xWays, xSplit and xNudge are vitally transformative to any slot they feature in, and it’s proven once more here in Highway to Hell.
Highway to Hell also includes other ways to up the ante, like the ability to buy an extra spin with funds from winnings – a feature seen in the likes of Outsourced and Duck Hunters. It also features enhancer cells, which proved popular in San Quentin. It also features a God Mode, which we’ve said before that we’re not huge fans of. As we sit here demoing the game we’ve tried a few god modes on the lowest stake, with each buy costing 3,800x the bet. We lost them all – a bit too brutal for even our tastes.
With a 20,066x max win, Highway to Hell isn’t quite as capable as a lot of Nolimit City’s catalogue, but it’s the perfect mix of excitement and volatility that feels just right.
To put it plainly, it’s badass. It’s not one of their immortals, but it’s damn good.
