Holidays Joker Halloween Slot Review
Skull-faced candle holders flicker down both sides of a rough stone frame, cobwebs drape the corners, and a spider hangs from the upper right as if it paid for the spot. Behind the reels, a blue-violet moon lights a leaning tower and a skyline of dark gabled roofs, with battlements running along the top of the screen. Spinomenal have dressed Holidays Joker Halloween beautifully, but the interesting thing about it isn’t the dressing: it’s that almost every meaningful result runs through a single symbol. The 5×4 grid, 20 paylines and 95.78% RTP are standard fare; a wild doing triple duty is not.
It shares its name and much of its make-up with Holidays Joker Xmas, a thinner game outside its bonus when it arrived in 2026, and it sits alongside Spooky Halloween Hold & Hit 3×3 and Majestic King in the studio’s catalogue. Does the same round, transplanted to October, still do the work?
The Base Game and Its Symbols
Twenty fixed paylines cross the five reels and four rows, paying left to right in the usual way. Wins need 3 or more matching symbols on a line, and only the highest combination per line counts. A line that could be read two ways pays the better reading once.
The wild substitutes for every symbol except the Free Spins scatter, and five wilds on a winning line pay bet per line x3,000. That’s the ceiling of the game, the biggest single result it defines, and it sits far above anything the regular symbols manage.
Below the wild, the paytable steps down quickly. The Pumpkin Basket leads the paying symbols, followed by the Ghost, then the sweets and the royals. All values are line-bet multiples for three, four and five of a kind:
- Pumpkin Basket: 70 / 300 / 1,000
- Ghost: 60 / 200 / 600
- Cupcake, Candy/Burger: 20 / 40 / 120
- A, K: 15 / 20 / 40
- Q, J: 15 / 20 for four and five
The shape of that ladder matters. The Ghost pays almost as well as the basket, so the top two symbols form one tier; the drop to the sweets is steep, and the drop from the sweets to the royals is steeper still. Five Ghosts return 600 times the line bet, while five Aces return 40.
Base-game wins below the Ghost tier are small change. A five-of-a-kind line of sweets at 120 is the best the middle of the paytable offers, and the royals don’t improve on it by much. That puts real weight on the two premium symbols and on the wild.
A BUY button sits in the interface alongside the spin controls, so the bonus round can be purchased directly rather than waited for. What the button buys is laid out in the free spins section below.
Extra Wilds
While the reels are spinning, three to six wild symbols may appear on the slot at once. It’s a base-game-only modifier, and it’s the one thing that lifts an otherwise plain spin. A screen that lands several wilds together can complete lines the paytable alone wouldn’t have managed.
Because the wild substitutes for everything except the scatter, a cluster of them arriving mid-spin can connect the high symbols across several of the twenty lines at the same time. The modifier doesn’t change what anything pays; it changes how often the paying combinations actually form.
Free Spins and the Expanding Wilds
3 or more scattered Free Spins symbols start the free spins game, and the award scales with the scatter count:
- 3 scatters: 10 free spins
- 4 scatters: 25 free spins
- 5 scatters: 50 free spins
Bet per line and the number of lines stay the same as the game that triggered the round, so the paytable above reads identically inside the bonus. The scatter only triggers during the base game, so the round doesn’t retrigger on more scatters landing mid-bonus. What it does instead is wilds.
Re-Spin Expanding Wilds
During free spins, any wild that lands expands to fill its entire reel. If one or more wilds expanded, the game triggers 1 re-spin, holding the expanded reels in place for another attempt at building lines through them.
The expanded wilds also pay as scattered symbols, on top of regular payline winnings:
- 1 scattered Expanding Wild: x2
- 2: x5
- 3: x10
- 4: x20
That dual payment is the round’s whole engine. A single spin with expanded wilds can pay twice over: once for the lines the wilds complete, and once for the wilds themselves. With four rows per reel, a filled reel puts a wild on every visible position of it.
Two or three expanded reels at once can therefore complete lines across most of the grid while their scatter pays land alongside. Five wilds on a winning line still pay bet per line x3,000 during the round, and the scatter prizes are paid in addition to line winnings rather than instead of them.
Between the 50-spin ceiling from five scatters, the re-spin on any expansion, and the stacked payouts, the round has three separate ways to build a result from one trigger. The base game has one modifier, and it’s the random one. The design leans almost entirely on this round.
Sizing the round is a matter of adding up its parts: 50 spins from five scatters, reels of expanded wilds, a re-spin on top, and a 3,000x line-bet result if five wilds line up. That’s the arithmetic of it, and it’s a good deal more than the base game ever offers.
It also means the round rewards the top of the scatter ladder disproportionately. Ten spins from three scatters still give every wild a reel to fill and a re-spin to follow it, but the difference between ten and fifty spins is the difference between a taste of the mechanic and a proper run at it. Four scatters, at 25 spins, sits in between.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Most of the time, this is a quiet game wearing a beautiful costume. You spin, the candles flicker, the spider dangles, and the paytable below the Ghost doesn’t give you much to write home about. The one reason to sit down at it is the free spins round, which is where the entire costume party actually starts.
The round pays twice on the same spin, once for the lines the expanded wilds complete and once for the wilds themselves, and the re-spin holds the doors open for another go. That double payment is the best thing here by a distance.
The weakness is the wait. Outside the random wild drop, the base game has nothing going on, and a paytable that thins out below the Ghost means the dressing does most of the entertaining in between. It suits players who like a long, quiet build towards one well-made bonus and don’t mind a thin stretch to get there; anyone after layered mechanics will find the pumpkin empties early.
