Honey Rush Black and Yellow Slot Review
The hive is buzzing, the speakers are stacked, and the rhythm hits constantly. Honey Rush Black and Yellow from Play’n GO throws us into a bold, musical drive for the series, where urban energy meets hex-filled honeycomb gameplay.
This time, the bees move with intent to the beat. Paytable symbols drop onto a 7-reel hexagonal grid, clusters burst, and each win feeds the Rush Meter with every cascade. As the energy rises, the hive prepares to flood the grid at a moment’s notice, serving vibrant visuals, a confident edge, and pumping soundscapes.
It’s been a while since we last explored a release from Play’n GO, and their latest Honey Rush entry feels like a fitting return. The hexagonal grid makes its third appearance, but this time the hive has far more energy.
The bees aren’t just along for the ride, they’re setting the pace, bringing a livelier feel to every spin. Alongside this, there’s added incentive too, with Jackpot Prizes in play that can land up to 100x your bet.
The original Honey Rush brought the hive to life, but the sequel raised the stakes massively with its 50,000x max win potential, and now the latest release is primed to crank up the volume even higher, with bolder hits and a hive that looks ready to erupt…
Base Game & Features
Honey Rush Black and Yellow is a highly volatile 7-reel video slot with a hexagonal layout and a Cluster Pays mechanic. Winning payouts are determined when 5-30 matching symbols land either horizontally or vertically on the grid.

The Diamond is the highest-paying symbol, followed by Gold, Silver, & Bronze Coins, each awarding payouts between 0.2x and 50x your bet. Other symbols include 4 individual Flowers worth between 0.1x and 10x your bet.
After each spin is complete, all winning clusters are removed from the grid following an Avalanche Feature. This enables consecutive wins to occur in the same spin after new symbols drop in to replace the removed ones.
Cash Symbols & the Bee
Throughout each session, Cash symbols with a random value between 0.2x and 100x your bet can appear anywhere on the grid. Landing a cluster of Cash symbols for a chance to win a Cash Bonus.

The Bee icon next to the grid plays an important part in collecting Cash symbols that are not part of a winning cluster. Each time the Bee collects a Cash symbol, it will grow in size, with the chance to trigger its feature.
Once active, the Bee can award a random Jackpot Prize of Mini (10x), Minor (20x), Major (50x), or Grand (100x).
Rush Meter & Colony Feature
Located on a speaker outside the main reel set is the Rush Meter, which begins at 0. Charging the Rush Meter with winning symbols triggers additional Features as follows:
- Level 1: Requires 30 symbols to trigger the Drone Colony feature.
- Level 2: Requires 60 symbols to trigger the Worker Colony feature.
- Level 3: Requires 90 symbols to trigger the Queen Colony feature.
Once the required symbol levels are met for each feature, the central symbol is cloned to create a new winning cluster. The Drone, Worker, & Queen Colony features award a cluster of 7, 10-15, and 20-37 identical symbols, respectively.

Walking Wild Multiplier
Walking Wild symbols can appear naturally in the base game, and are not removed via the Avalanche feature if they are part of a winning cluster. Walking Wilds reveal a random Multiplier between 1x and 3x your bet, which applies to all winning clusters they are a part of.
Walking Wilds remain sticky on the grid, but they move to a new position after all win evaluations, increasing their current Multiplier by +x1. When the Multiplier reaches its x3 cap, it is removed from the grid after the last avalanche event or spin.

Our Honest Verdict
It’s always exciting to see a familiar favourite return, but with that comes a certain level of expectation, especially after the original’s standout success. When Honey Rush first landed in 2019, it felt like a genuine game-changer, introducing players to a hexagonal grid with dynamic Colony features that delivered thrills usually reserved for Free Spins.
The hexagonal grid still anchors the experience, but Play’n GO has shifted the setting from a calm hive to a lively, fast-paced city, complete with a signature soundtrack that reinforces its bold identity.
There’s also a fresh Bee character in play, and it’s more than just visual flair. It sweeps up non-winning Cash symbols for a shot at 1 of 4 Jackpot Prizes, offering up to 100x your bet. It’s a notable shift for the Honey Rush series, pushing the gameplay toward more contemporary mechanics and giving the experience a modern edge.
What is disappointing, however, is the reduced max win potential compared to Honey Rush 100. While it’s understandable that removing the x100 Multipliers will have quite an impact, it’s still a little disheartening to see this release cash out at 20,000x your bet.
All in all, Honey Rush Black and Yellow brings a modern twist to the series, but the drop in max win potential stings the long-term appeal.
