Hood vs Wolf Slot Review
In the oldest telling of Little Red Riding Hood nobody comes to the rescue. Perrault’s wolf eats her and the story stops there. Hood vs Wolf gives her the rematch.
The fight is staged by Pocket Games Soft, who draw the pair of them squaring up above the reels in the manga style of Japanese comics, over a soundtrack that never once calms down.
It’s a 5×3 game of medium volatility, with an RTP of 95.39% and a top win of 4,000x your stake. Stakes run from €0.30 to €450 a spin.
The fairytale shelf is well stocked at this studio, with Grimm’s Bounty: Hansel & Gretel and Jack The Giant Hunter both raiding the Brothers Grimm for material.
For the anime treatment specifically, Geisha’s Revenge is the closer relative. Rooting for a side here matters less than you’d expect.
Base Game & Features
Hood vs Wolf runs on a five-reel, three-row grid with 30 fixed paylines, so there’s no line count to adjust. Wins pay left to right across the reels.

Stake is set through a bet size and a bet level rather than a single slider:
- Bet sizes: 0.01, 0.05, 0.15 and 1.25
- Bet levels: 1 to 10
- Total stake: €0.30 to €450 per spin
Above the reels sit Hood on one side and the Wolf on the other, with a collection bar running between them. The woodland behind the grid is thrown out of focus, the Wolf waiting in it for Hood to walk past.

Battle Feature
The collection bar tracks two scores at once. Hood’s Power symbols and Wolf’s Power symbols land on the reels during the main game and are added to their owner’s side of the bar each spin.
Reaching a score of 18 awards that character’s free spins round, so the two features are in direct competition for the same meter. Both scores climb in the same session, and a run for one side can be answered by the other. On average the meter resolves around once every 229 spins.
Progress is shown twice over, as a numerical score and as the fill on the bar itself.
Mini Janken Feature
Rock, Paper and Scissors symbols appear on reels 2 and 4 only. When a pair of them lands, the winning symbol pays an instant prize: scissors beats paper, paper beats rock and rock beats scissors.
The pairing lands at a rate of roughly one in 23 spins, and it resolves with its own animation before play continues.

Wild Symbols
The Wild substitutes for every symbol except Rock, Paper, Scissors, Hood’s Power and Wolf’s Power. Those last two still count as the standard Hood and Wolf symbols when winning lines are calculated, so a battle symbol pulls double duty.
Hood vs Wolf Free Spins
There’s no bonus buy in Hood vs Wolf, so the battle meter is the only route in. Whichever character reaches 18 first, the round opens the same way: three rounds of Rock-Paper-Scissors against the opposing character.
Every round won awards five free spins, to a maximum of 15. Winning nothing across the three rounds isn’t on the table, so the worst entry is still five spins.

Hood Feature
Triggered when Hood’s score reaches 18. Every free spin places five frames on random positions across the reels. Any Wolf, Claws or Tail symbol landing inside a frame is transformed into a Wild.
With five frames live on each spin, the round is built entirely on wild conversion. There are no multipliers attached to it.

Wolf Feature
Triggered when the Wolf’s score reaches 18, and it frames far less of the grid: one frame on a random reel position per free spin.
If a Wild, Hood, Basket or Flower symbol lands in that single frame, three to eight Wilds replace random symbols across the reels, the framed symbol included. We didn’t see this side win during our session.
Our Honest Verdict
The base game holds attention without ever flooding you with wins. 30 lines produce plenty of small hits, and the meter overhead gives every spin a second thing to watch.
That meter is also the most frustrating thing here. Get within two symbols of a trigger and the losing side claws it back, and the tug-of-war is level again.
Mini Janken is the pick of the base game. It doesn’t land often, and half the time you don’t notice it has until the prize arrives.
Only the Hood side came in for us. Its opening Rock-Paper-Scissors rounds mean you never walk in empty-handed, and the framed wilds are easy to read at speed. Nothing props the round up beyond those wilds, and 4,000x isn’t a ceiling anyone’s chasing.
It’ll suit players who want something happening between wins, and anyone here for the anime styling. Big-win hunters have better options.
Which of them wins stops mattering quickly. You just want one of them over that line, and the wanting is the best thing this slot does.
