Huntress vs Baba Yaga Slot Review
Fly agaric mushrooms crowd the moss at the foot of the reels, birch trunks fade into a pink-gold sunset, and somewhere on that forest path a huntress is closing on a witch. Huntress vs Baba Yaga is a game that doesn’t trust its own symbols: the paytable is deliberately starved, and nearly everything it pays out is routed through a multiplier ladder instead. It’s an old trick, but Mascot Gaming commits to it fully here, carving the ladder into the timber rail beside the reels as if it were part of the scenery.
The setting is a painted Slavic fairytale forest, and it’s genuinely handsome. Huntress vs Baba Yaga runs at 95.99% RTP across six reels and seven rows, with ways climbing from 64 to 117,649. Sister titles Milk and Luck and Poseidon The Deep King tread similar ground if the forest takes you.
Base Game & Features
Six reels hold up to seven symbols each, so the ways count shifts with every spin. A reel showing all seven symbols opens more ways than a reel showing three, and the total sits anywhere between 64 and 117,649 depending on how the board fills. That’s the Rockways system: instead of fixed lines, every possible left-to-right path across the adjacent reels counts as a way.
Wins form when matching symbols land on adjacent reels from the left, and a win pays only once per way no matter how many copies of the symbol sit on each reel. Two Huntresses on reel one and three on reel two don’t multiply anything – the way pays its rate and that’s it. Only the highest win per way is paid, so overlapping combinations don’t stack either.
The paytable splits between four folklore figures and five polished gems. The Huntress leads it, followed by a red hooded figure and a purple horned figure who read as her allies or rivals in the tale, a green hut that could only belong to the witch, and the usual run of gems below. Symbol pays, as multiples of the total bet:
- Huntress – 12.5x for six, 4.5x for five, 1.75x for four, 0.8x for three
- Red hooded figure – 6.25x, 2.75x, 1.25x, 0.6x
- Purple horned figure – 3.25x, 1.5x, 0.75x, 0.4x
- Green hut – 2x, 1x, 0.55x, 0.35x
- Blue jug – 1.25x, 0.6x, 0.35x, 0.25x
- Purple gem – 0.8x, 0.4x, 0.25x, 0.2x
- Red gem – 0.6x, 0.35x, 0.2x, 0.15x
- Orange diamond – 0.5x, 0.3x, 0.2x, 0.15x
- Blue gem – 0.45x, 0.25x, 0.15x, 0.1x
Those are modest top-end values for a grid this size. Even the Huntress pays just 0.8x for three of a kind, and the gems run down to 0.06x at the bottom, which tells you where the real money is meant to come from: the cascades and the bonus round, not the raw symbol pays.
Rockfall Feature
Any win sets off a Rockfall. The sequence runs like this: the winning symbols are cleared from the grid, new symbols drop in from above, and the win multiplier climbs a rung of the ladder notched into the timber rail beside the reels. If the new symbols form another win, the whole thing repeats at the higher multiplier.
Each rung is worth more than the last, and the ladder doesn’t reset until a drop comes up empty. The base-game climb goes:
- First Rockfall – x1
- Second – x2
- Third – x3
- Fourth – x5
- Fifth and beyond – x10
Because the multiplier only climbs while wins keep coming, a single spin can chain several small payouts into one far larger one. Each win in the chain pays at the multiplier the ladder has reached by that point, so the biggest multipliers only apply to whatever the later drops turn up. That’s the engine of the base game, and with symbol pays this low it has to be.
Huntress vs Baba Yaga Free Spins & Bonus Features
Free Spins
Landing four or more Scatter symbols triggers 12 Free Spins, and every Scatter beyond the fourth adds three extra, so five scatters means 15 and six means 18. The round plays automatically at the triggering bet, so there’s nothing to set once you’re in, and your stake doesn’t change mid-round.
The Rockfall ladder runs hotter in here, roughly doubling at every rung:
- First Rockfall – x2
- Second – x5
- Third – x10
- Fourth – x15
- Fifth and beyond – x25
Those free-spins multipliers aren’t just bigger, they arrive faster: the base game needs four consecutive Rockfalls to reach x5, while the bonus gets there in two. With the symbol pays sitting low, that ladder is doing most of the work in the round. A long cascade chain at x25 turns even the gems into something worth watching, and a chain that starts with the Huntress or the hooded figure at the top of it can go a long way past what the paytable alone suggests.
Risk’n’Buy Feature
After any win you can take the money, or push it. The Risk’n’Buy feature offers two ways to do the pushing, and neither is available while Autoplay is running, so it’s a decision you make spin by spin.
- Buy – 12 Free Spins for 150 total bets, starting instantly
- Risk – stake your current win on the Risk Wheel for a chance to increase it, up to x1000 of the total bet
The Risk Wheel works on your current win rather than your stake: whatever the spin just paid goes onto the wheel, and the outcome either increases it or costs you the amount you risked. The ceiling is x1000 of the total bet, which on a chained Rockfall win can be a serious number. The Risk option is the more interesting of the two, since it can turn a modest base-game payout into something the symbol pays alone would never produce.
The buy price is steep: 150 total bets for 12 spins is a lot of stake to put down in one go. It buys the same 12-spins round four scatters trigger, extra scatters included only if you’d landed more than four.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
You spend most of your time in this forest waiting for something to chain. That’s the whole reason to pick it: it’s a cascade game where the small wins matter less as money and more as fuel, and the pretty Slavic storybook wrapping makes the waiting easy on the eye.
The free-spins ladder is the best thing here, because x25 attached to a run of falling gems pays like nothing in the symbol table even hints at. The weakness is just as real: the buy costs 150 bets, and the base game’s x10 cap means the quiet stretches really are quiet.
If you like cascade games, there’s a lot of forest to enjoy here.
