In 2011, Games Global (originally Microgaming) crafted one of the most memorable Vampire-themed slots on the market. Immortal Romance quickly became the slot equivalent of the Twilight franchise, harbouring its own group of teen characters with a dark secret.
After many years had passed, the news came of a sequel to the original, set to release in 2024. Only Immortal Romance 2 would be under the new management and watchful eye of Games Global partner, Stormcraft Studios.
Home to Thunderstruck Wild Lightning, we were confident the sequel to a much-loved release was in capable hands, and we weren’t wrong. The new release quickly picked up where Games Global left off, recreating our love of the Wild Desire feature while introducing the latest Jackpot mechanics.
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold transports the first two releases into a full-blown series, where the return of progressive jackpots, special wilds, and multiple free spins modes are bigger and better than before.

Base Game & Features
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold is a highly volatile, 6-reel, 4-row Video Slot with 4,096 ways to win. Wins are guaranteed when 2-6 matching symbols land from left to right (on adjacent reels), starting from reel 1.
The high, mid, and low-paying symbols are represented by character icons (Sarah, Michael, Troy, & Amber), followed by several building icons and A, K, Q, & J card suits. Each paytable symbol awards a fixed payout between 0.2x and 5x your bet, where applicable.
Lastly, Wild symbols, represented by the game logo, appear on reels 2-6 and substitute for all symbols except Scatter, Cash, and Collect symbols. However, during Free Spins, Wild symbols are limited to reels 2, 3, and 4.
Collect Feature
In the base game, special Cash symbols with values between 0.2x and 20x your bet are consistent on the reels. Please note that Cash symbols award up to 100x your bet during the Vein of Gold feature.
When a Collect symbol appears on reel 1 or 6, all visible Cash symbols and their values are added together and applied. It should be noted that Cash and Collect symbols do not appear in the Free Spins mode.
Respin Feature
The Respin feature is an extension of the Collect feature, which awards +1 Respin when a Collect symbol hits without any Cash symbols present.
Once active, reels 1 and 6 lock, while reels 2-5 spin to reveal additional Cash symbols and Blank positions. In this feature, 1 or more Cash symbols are guaranteed to land on the reels.
Please note that this feature is only available in the base game and cannot be retriggered. At the end of the Respin, all visible Cash Prizes are applied to your total win.
Rising Rewards: Jackpot
To accumulate a special Token, individual Cash symbols must land on the reels without a Collect symbol. When a Jackpot Token is awarded, it will increment 1 of the 4 Jackpots to the left of the main reel set by 0.1x-1x your bet.
The newly enhanced Jackpot Prizes will remain so until they are retained across individual sessions. Furthermore, accumulated tokens increase your chance of triggering the Jackpot Feature in the base game.
Once active, up to 18 Cash Prizes (between 0.2x and 20x your bet) and 1-4 Jackpots can be won. Every Cash or Jackpot Prize revealed is instantly awarded, with Jackpots being awarded multiple times.
After a Jackpot has been awarded, it will return to its original balance.
Rising Rewards: Multiplier
Another part of the Rising Rewards feature is the Bonus Multiplier Meter. In the Vein of Gold and Free Spins mode, the current Multiplier applies to all winning payouts during this time.
When 2 Bonus Scatters land on reels 1-5 in the base game, the Multiplier will increment by 0.5x, up to a maximum of 5x. Once the Vein of Gold feature of Free Spins mode is complete, the Multiplier resets to 1x.
Upon returning to the base game, the Multiplier may randomly increase by 0.5x or 1x.
Bonus Buy
Players outside the UK jurisdiction will benefit from multiple Bonus Buy options as follows:
- 3 Scatters: Awards 8 Free Spins or 2 Vein of Gold spins for 45x your bet
- 4 Scatters: Awards 12 Free Spins or 3 Vein of Gold spins for 75x your bet
- 5 Scatters: Awards 20 Free Spins or 5 Vein of Gold spins for 120x your bet

All of the above options utilise a fixed RTP rating of 96.25%.
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold has a tailored max win cap of 5,500x your bet. If a game round exceeds this amount, the round immediately ends, and players return to the base game carrying this figure.
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold Slot Free Spins
Landing 3 or more Scatters in the base game enters you directly into a Bonus Choice feature, awarding the following options:
- 3 Scatters: Choose between 8 Free Spins or 2 Vein of Gold Spins
- 4 Scatters: Choose between 12 Free Spins or 3 Vein of Gold Spins
- 5 Scatters: Choose between 20 Free Spins or 5 Vein of Gold Spins

During this round, each Wild symbol involved in a win will reveal a multiplier of x2, x3, or x5, which applies to all wins they are a part of.

Vein of Gold
In this feature, only Retrigger, Collect Retrigger, Collect, and Cash symbols are available, leaving all other reel positions Blank.
With each spin, a standard Collect symbol is guaranteed to land on reel 1, while an additional Collect symbol may also land on reel 6 (but this is not guaranteed).
Other symbol types, such as Collect Retrigger and standard Retrigger symbols, appear only on reel 6. When each of these symbols hits, they award the following outcomes:
- Collector Retrigger: Awards all visible Cash Prizes and +1 Vein of Gold spin
- Retrigger: Awards +1 Vein of Gold spin
Our Honest Verdict
Having the responsibility and challenging task of creating the next chapter of the Immortal Romance slot must’ve been no easy task, yet Stormcraft Studios has taken to it like a duck to water.
With so much love and admiration still being poured into the original Immortal Romance slot, even after 14 years, the third instalment needed to be bigger and better than the entire series combined, but did Stormcraft Studios pull it off?
On first inspection, we found multiple differences in the layout and design of the game. The once dark and mysterious backdrop from IR2 has been switched for a blood-red colouring here, along with minor differences to how the Jackpots are laid out (which are not tied to characters this time).
You’ll be disappointed to know that the signature feature, Wild Desire, is no longer a part of the series. However, instead of blood drops being responsible for increasing the Bonus Multiplier, it falls to Scatter symbols.
Many of the game’s features honour the same mechanics found in IR2, only Stormcraft Studios has tweaked them so they fit nicely into the newest instalment. For example, instead of individual character bonuses, you have the choice between Free Spins and the Vein of Gold feature.
With so many feature interactions occurring in the base game, what does it mean for us in terms of max win potential? Sadly, not much. After a great start to IR2 and its 15,000x max win cap, this instalment drops to a rather disappointing 5,500x your bet.
All in all, Immortal Romance Vein of Gold keeps our love of the series alive with its iconic characters and gothic/vampire aesthetic, but it loses appeal for its sub-par max win potential and certain outdated features.
