Irish Pots MultiMax Slot Review
A rainbow climbs out of the grass beside a mossy stump, and the reels spin inside a timber shack with clover trailing over the eaves and gold prize plaques hanging off the post like tavern signs. Irish Pots MultiMax uses the most tired theme in the industry to sell one of the more demanding bonus systems around, and that mismatch is the whole point of it. BulletProof have built a game that plays like a lightweight in the base game and does its real work in the features.
The game runs on a 5×4 grid with 20 paylines, at 94.0% RTP and high volatility, with stakes from 0.20 to 50 per spin. It sits in the studio’s catalogue alongside Banana Twist and Juiced DuoMax, and like the DuoMax titles it’s the multiplier maths that sets it apart. The ceiling on those multipliers is a combined 3125x.
Base Game & Features
Irish Pots MultiMax plays on a 5×4 grid with 20 fixed paylines. All winlines must be played, wins pay left to right, and only the highest-paying combination on each line counts. It’s a conventional layout, and nothing about it will surprise anyone who has spun a reel before.
Wild symbols substitute for the paying symbols, and every wild that lands during free spins also steps its reel’s MultiMax multiplier up by one. That second half of the job matters far more than the first, and it’s covered below.
The paytable, in multiples of stake:
- Rainbow: 0.2x for two, 2x for three, 5x for four, 15x for five
- Pot of Gold: 1.5x for three, 2.5x for four, 5x for five
- Harp: 1x for three, 2x for four, 4x for five
- Green Hat / Mushroom: 0.75x for three, 1.5x for four, 3.5x for five
- Orange Gem / Red Gem: 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 3x for five
- Purple Gem / Blue Gem: 0.25x for three, 0.75x for four, 2.5x for five
- Green Gem: 0.2x for three, 0.5x for four, 2x for five
The Rainbow is the only symbol that pays from two of a kind; everything else starts at three. Gem symbols fill the lower rungs, and they do a lot of the winning, such as it is, between bonus triggers. With a hit frequency of 28.74%, roughly a spin in every three and a half connects, and most of those connections are gem pays worth a fraction of the stake.
At the top end, five Rainbows across a payline returns 15x the stake. That’s the best the base game can do on its own, and it’s a modest ceiling for a high volatility game – the real money has to come from the multipliers stacked on top of it in the bonus.
Golden Bet
Golden Bet raises your stake by 50% and in exchange doubles the chance of triggering the free spins bonus on the reels. So a stake of 1 becomes 1.50 with the option on. It’s a straight price for a straight effect, and anyone who mainly wants the bonus will find it cheaper than the buy menu.
The change applies to the trigger only: Golden Bet doesn’t alter what the bonus awards, the number of starting spins or the behaviour of the multipliers inside it. Seven free spins is seven free spins either way.
Irish Pots MultiMax Free Spins & Bonus Features
Free spins trigger when three BONUS symbols land anywhere in view on reels 1, 3 and 5, awarding seven free spins. The round runs on the MultiMax system, with the Lucky Coin feature able to fire inside it, and a gamble wheel waiting at the door.
MultiMax
Each of the five reels carries its own multiplier, shown at the top of the reel. Every one starts at x1 and climbs by one each time a wild lands on that reel, up to a limit of x5. A payline win is multiplied by the product of all the multipliers on the reels involved in that win, so five fully stacked reels give a combined 3125x.
Because the multipliers multiply together rather than add, a win spanning all five reels gets the full product applied to it, while a win confined to two reels picks up only those two. Position matters as much as size: where your winning lines sit counts for almost as much as how high the multipliers have climbed.
The multipliers don’t reset until the feature ends. They also keep working inside the Lucky Coin feature, where they multiply the coin and pot values on their corresponding reels.
Free Spins Gamble
On entry to the bonus you can gamble your seven spins on a wheel with green and red segments. Green adds a spin per success, up to a maximum of 12 free spins; red ends the gamble and the game with it. The gamble runs at 100% RTP and doesn’t affect the game’s overall return.
You can stop the wheel at any point and take the spins you’ve built. Five successful greens turns seven spins into twelve, and those extra spins are extra chances to grow the reel multipliers before the round closes.
Lucky Coin Feature
Landing six or more Coin and Pot symbols anywhere in view during free spins awards seven Lucky Coin spins. The screen switches to a grid of 20 individual reels, and any coin or pot that lands stays locked in position until the bonus ends.
Landing +1 symbols adds a spin apiece. Active MultiMax multipliers above a reel multiply the coin and pot values on that reel, and the feature can trigger more than once within the same free spins round. All accumulated values pay out at the end.
Jackpot Spins
Fill 19 of the 20 positions with coins or pots and the game awards three Jackpot Spins. These run until the Jackpot Pot lands or the spins run out, and this round is the only way the Jackpot Pot can be won at all. It’s a narrow gate, and most Lucky Coin rounds will end well short of it.
Buy A Bonus
Two purchases are available from the buy menu:
- The first awards the standard Lucky Coin feature outright.
- The second awards the MultiMax free spins bonus, with an increased chance of the Lucky Coin feature triggering inside it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Most of your time here is spent watching gems pay buttons in a shack, waiting for three bonus symbols. That’s the honest picture, and the reason to sit through it is the free spins stack: five multipliers climbing at once, each wild nudging its own reel higher, everything worth having built inside the bonus rather than outside it.
The carry-over into the Lucky Coin round is the best thing in the game, because one good bonus genuinely pays twice. The worst is the jackpot, which gates the game’s biggest prize behind a near-perfect grid that most sessions will never fill.
This one’s for players who like bonuses that build and don’t mind a long, flat approach to reach them. Anyone chasing frequent wins or an accessible jackpot will be better off elsewhere – the rainbow here rewards patience, not hope.
