Joker Masks Slot Review
Most of what spins past on Joker Masks’ reels is worth almost nothing, and the game knows it. Under a glossy wordmark on a plain charcoal stage, BGaming has built a three-reel classic where the fruit and the BARs are the cheapest thing on the board and the real money moves entirely through Coin and Collect symbols, all the way up to a 15,000x ceiling the paytable alone couldn’t get near.
It runs on a 3×5 grid, three reels across five rows, with 15 paylines and a total RTP of 96.12%. The classic dressing, the 777s and the BARs, sits on top of a Coin and Collect system that can turn any spin into an instant win or a full bonus round. It’s the same engine that powers studio stablemates like Joker’s Million, Fruit Million and Wild Coin Gold, here stripped back to a three-reel frame.
The Reels and the Paytable
Three reels, five rows and 15 paylines, paying left to right on consecutive reels. Because there are only three reels, every line win is a three-of-a-kind: there’s no partial-length payout to chase, and each payline pays only its highest combination. Wins on several paylines in one spin add together, and a spin can award line wins and Collect wins at the same time, so the paytable and the feature symbols are two separate scoring systems running in parallel.
Line wins follow the paytable, while Coin, Jackpot and Collect wins are worth whatever the symbols involved carry. When the Bonus Game ends, every collected amount is added up and paid out as one Total Win.
The Wild mask is the richest symbol on the grid. It replaces all regular symbols and pays a line win on its own, but it won’t stand in for Coins or Collects, and it stays out of the Bonus Game entirely.
Symbol values for three of a kind, in multiples of the bet:
- Wild mask: 30x
- 777: 10x
- BAR: 8x
- Watermelon / Grapes: 4x
- Plum / Orange / Lemon: 1x
- Cherry: 0.5x
The spread tells its own story. From the wild down to the cherry there’s a sixty-fold gap between top and bottom, and the bottom four tiers all sit within a multiple of the bet of each other, so the fruit is close to interchangeable in practice and the wild is doing most of the work the paytable has to offer.
The Collect Feature
Coin symbols land on reels 1 and 3 only, carrying values of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x or 8x the bet. The Collect symbol lands on reel 2 only. When a Collect arrives alongside a Coin, the Collect adds every Coin and Jackpot value on the screen and pays the total as an instant win.
It’s a simple pairing, and on a three-reel grid it gives the base game a second way to pay that the line wins alone couldn’t deliver. The same mechanic carries into the Bonus Game, where Collect symbols do their work for the length of the round.
A few practical settings sit around it. Autoplay can stop on any win, on a Bonus Game start, or when a single win or a balance swing passes a threshold you set. Quick spin and animation skip are there too, where local rules allow them.
Hold & Win Bonus Game
The trigger is the same combination, taken further: Coins on both outer reels and a Collect in the middle, all at once, open the Bonus Game rather than a one-off payout. The grid keeps its three-reel, five-row shape, but only Coin, Collect and Jackpot symbols appear for the duration of the round.
It begins with three respins. Every new Coin, Collect or Jackpot symbol that lands resets the respin count to three, and Collect symbols stay locked on their cells until the round ends. When the respins run out without a new symbol, the game adds everything collected and pays it as one Total Win.
Respins that land new symbols also carry a chance to drop multipliers onto cells on reels 1 and 3, which is where the round’s real ceiling comes from. There’s a hard stop, though: if a round reaches the game’s win cap, it ends immediately and any remaining respins are lost.
Bonus Multipliers and Jackpot Symbols
Each multiplier drop adds x2, x3 or x5 to two, three or four cells on the outer reels, or to all remaining cells if fewer are available. Multipliers can land on occupied or empty cells, but never on a cell that already carries one, and they hold their value until the round closes.
The multiplication happens before values are added to each Collect symbol, and anything already collected stays at its original value. A Grand Jackpot sat on a x5 cell is the round’s best-case arithmetic.
Four fixed-prize jackpot symbols can appear during the round. The ladder, in multiples of the bet:
- Mini: 15x
- Minor: 30x
- Major: 100x
- Grand: 1,000x
From the Minor rung up, every jackpot matches or beats the paytable’s top line win, and the Grand alone pays more than thirty times the wild’s top combination. Every jackpot symbol is also subject to the same cell multipliers as Coins, so a jackpot’s listed value is a floor rather than a ceiling whenever a multiplier shares its cell.
Buy Features
Four buy options sit alongside standard play, from a cheap odds boost to a fully loaded round. The top tier is where the multiplier engine gets its strongest starting hand.
- Regular: 30x the bet, starts the Bonus Game with one or more Collect symbols
- Super: 60x the bet, starts with three or more Collect symbols
- Ultra: 90x the bet, starts with three or more Collect symbols and multipliers
- Increased Chance: 2x the bet, raises the odds of the Bonus Game starting naturally
The step from Super to Ultra is the interesting one. Both start with three or more Collects, but only Ultra brings multipliers in from the first respin, so the 30x premium is buying the multiplier drops’ head start rather than more Collect symbols. Beyond its 2x price, the rules say only that Increased Chance increases the chance to start the Bonus Game.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
Playing Joker Masks is a quiet game of patience wearing a jester’s colours. Spins drift past on that bare black stage, and then a Collect lands and the whole thing wakes up; the reason to sit down at this one is the bonus round, which resets its respins and builds until the board is nearly full. When the cells start stacking up, it’s as gripping as anything in the genre.
The multiplier system is the best thing here: a late x5 on a loaded board can reprice everything still waiting to be collected, and even an empty cell can turn gold. The weakness is that everything outside the bonus is small change. The wild tops out at 30x and the fruit pays pocket money, so the reels between Collects are filler, and long spells can pass with nothing to show but spinning cherries.
It suits players who love the old three-reel look but want a modern engine doing the paying, especially with the Ultra buy ready to skip the quiet part. Anyone who plays slots for big symbol wins will find the paytable thin. For everyone else, the plain stage hides one of the better hold-and-win rounds around.
