Embark on a jungle adventure with Amazon Warriors in AvatarUX’s latest PopWins release, JunglePop!
When the PopWins mechanic first appeared on our screens, it was immediately apparent that it was going to become a player favourite that featured in many games, much like Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic.
By our count, AvatarUX’s current portfolio consists of roughly 50 titles, 35 of which feature the PopWins mechanic. This includes their latest January release, JunglePop, which is distributed by another high-ranking provider, Yggdrasil Gaming.
JunglePop appears to be the first Jungle-themed slot to feature this mechanic, although there are many similarities between this one and games like TikiPop and TikiPop Spooky Temples. Base Game & Features
JunglePop offers a standard 5 reels and 3 rows to begin, stretching to a maximum of 9 rows in the Free Spins round. When configured as a 5×3 Video Slot, each spin consists of 486 ways to win, but this can reach up to a maximum of 118,098 at its maximum grid size.
Wins occur when 3 or more matching symbols land anywhere on adjacent reels, from the leftmost and rightmost reels. Depending on the winning outcome, each winning combination produces wins between 0.2x and 1.5x your bet.
AvatarUX has classified this game as a Highly volatile slot with an overall RTP of 94% and a generous max win cap of 50,000x your bet.
PopWins
As noted above, JunglePop features AvatarUX’s beloved PopWins mechanic, which means that all winning symbols “pop” from the reels and are replaced by +2 new symbols. When this occurs, the height of each reel grows up to a maximum height of 6 in the base game and 9 in the Free Spins round.
ZapReel
Above the main reel set sits an additional reel known as the ZapReel. This reel displays Feature Rewards which are applied to the reels directly below them. The rewards available are as follows:
- Multipliers: In the base game, a x2 or x3 Multiplier can be activated. Alternatively, in Free Spins, the possible Multipliers are x2, x3, x5, or x10
- Split Symbols: In the base game, split symbols can result in up to 5 identical symbols being split across the reels. In Free Spins, up to 10 matching symbols can be split on the reels
- Expanding Symbols: In the base game and Free Spins round, an expanding winning symbol can be activated. This symbol fills the entire reel it appears on.
- Synced Reel Rewards: In the base game, up to 2 adjacent reels can be synced, resulting in identical symbols appear on each reel. In Free Spins, up to 3 adjacent reels can be synced
Bonus Buy
- Jungle Bonus: For a cost 125x your bet, you are awarded 6 Free Spins, beginning with 15,552 ways to win
- Max Bonus: For a cost of 500x your bet, you are awarded 12 Free Spins, beginning with 15, 552 ways to win
Free Spins
Triggering the Free Spins round requires all 5 reels to reach a height of 6. Once active, the round will be played on a 5×6 reel set to begin with, with each reel able to expand to a height of 9 through the PopWins mechanic.
Warrior Wheel
Prior to the Free Spins round, players will have the opportunity to Gamble their current free spins for more. To begin, you’ll be awarded 6 Free Spins, but you can gamble up to a maximum of 18 Free Spins through the Warrior Wheel.
If you choose to Gamble, please remember that a losing outcome results in the player returning to the base game, without any Free Spins round.
Our Verdict
What’s great about AvatarUX’s PopWins mechanic is that it has the ability to turn an otherwise mundane game into an extremely exciting one. That certainly seems to be the case for JunglePop, because it’s a somewhat unassuming game in a lot of ways, but thanks to its PopWins mechanic it’s actually quite a bit of fun to play.
While it’s true that high volatility slots like this one generally are a bit hit or miss when it comes to winning, even with its respectable 94% RTP, it’s also true that this game’s maximum win multiplier of 50,000x is incredibly high compared to most other games. For that reason alone, if you’re the type of player who dreams of winning a massive amount of money, you simply can’t go wrong with this game.
The ZapReel that AvatarUX included in JunglePop is a great complementary feature to its PopWins mechanic and will certainly keep players engaged with each and every spin of the reels.
