Kupala 2 Slot Review
A dark meadow under a sky speckled with small stars, ferns and pastel blossoms garlanding a carved wooden reel cabinet: this is Kupala night, the Slavic midsummer festival where girls float flower garlands on rivers and go hunting for a fern that only blooms once a year. Spinomenal have built their sequel around that single image, and the restraint works in its favour. It’s a quiet, painterly game in a market that rarely is.
Kupala 2 runs on a 5×4 grid with 20 fixed paylines, and wins go up to 3,000x the total bet. It shares its folkloric streak with Midsummer’s Fortune and Queen of the Forest, with Majestic King sitting elsewhere in the same catalogue. What marks it out is a genuinely odd wild rule, which we’ll come to.
Symbols, Lines and Payouts
All symbols pay left to right from the leftmost reel, and only the highest win on each line counts. Wins are multiplied by the bet per line. Twenty lines are fixed, so there’s nothing to adjust there.
Every qualifying combination in a round is added together into that round’s total, and that total shows in the win field. It’s straightforward line-payer arithmetic, with one exception: the scatter, which pays its own way regardless of lines.
The betting control adjusts the bet per line rather than a total stake. The paytable’s headline figures, though, are quoted against the total bet, so the two scales are worth keeping apart when reading the numbers below.
The Paytable
Pays below are multiples of the total bet.
- Fern/Flower – 200x for three, 500x for four, 1,250x for five, 4,000x for six
- Candle – 100x for three, 200x for four, 1,000x for five, 2,000x for six
- A – 100x for three, 200x for four, 1,000x for five, 2,000x for six
- K – 50x for three, 100x for four, 350x for five, 700x for six
- Q – 50x for three, 100x for four, 350x for five, 700x for six
- J – 30x for three, 50x for four, 150x for five, 500x for six
The fern and flower symbol is the richest regular payer by a wide distance, and its six-of-a-kind 4,000x sits above the game’s own advertised ceiling. The royals are grouped in pairs down to the Jack, which pays the least.
Nothing here is unusual in shape; the values are simply steep. The drop from the fern to the Candle is a halving at every tier, and it’s the same again from the Candle to the royals. Three Jacks, the floor of the table, returns 30x the total bet, while three ferns returns 200x: nearly seven times as much for the same alignment.
The mid-tiers tell the same story from the other end. Five of a kind is where the table starts to matter: 350x for the King or Queen, 1,000x for the Candle or Ace, and it’s only the top two rows that a session will actually remember.
Wild and Scatter
The wild substitutes for every symbol except the scatter, and that’s where the game gets strange: three to five wilds only pay when they’re followed by a scatter symbol. A wild run on its own is worth nothing.
It’s a rule that turns the game’s most valuable symbol into a conditional one, and it rewards paying attention to what lands beside it. When the condition is met, the wild’s own payouts are the richest in the game:
- Wild, followed by a scatter – 500x for three, 1,500x for four, 5,000x for five, 15,000x for six
- Scatter, any position – 10x for three, 50x for four, 1,250x for five, 2,500x for six
As a substitute, the wild steps in for anything except the scatter to complete or extend a line win, which is its bread-and-butter work. The conditional payout is a separate job: the wilds have to land as a run from the leftmost reel, and a scatter has to arrive immediately after them for the run to pay its own table.
The scatter needs no line at all. It counts wherever it lands, its prizes are multiplied by the total bet rather than the line bet, and any scatter winnings are added on top of payline wins from the same round.
Read the wild’s table against the 3,000x ceiling and the shape of the game becomes clear: the wild-plus-scatter combination is where the money lives, and almost everything else is small change around it.
Playing It
Spin with the button or the space bar. Bet per line is set with plus and minus controls, and all wins in a round show in the win field. The help and settings controls lock during a spin.
Autoplay opens a configuration screen where you choose the number of spins, and it runs at the selected bet per line until it’s stopped with the pause button. While autoplay is running, the game shows a “good luck” banner alongside the pause control, so stopping a run mid-session is one click away.
Every winning combination and payout can be checked in the paytable at any time outside a spin. Malfunction voids all pays, and the English version of the game rules prevails.
And that is the whole game. There’s no free spins round, no bonus game and no feature buy in Kupala 2. A “features” label sits on the base game screen, but the symbols page is all there is behind it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6/10
Kupala 2 is a line-payer with one twist. The base game is a clean 5×4, twenty-line payer, steep at the top of the paytable and thin at the bottom: the fern and the wild-scatter pairing tower over everything, and the royals are filler between events.
That pairing is the strength. A wild whose payout depends on a scatter landing after it is rare, and it gives every spin a small second thing to watch for. The 3,000x ceiling is modest, but the wild’s own table runs far past it, which tells you the designers knew exactly where the excitement was meant to come from.
The weakness is everything around that idea. No free spins, no feature round, no buy option: a game built this way lives or dies on its base game, and this one is two interesting symbols and a lot of quiet spins between them. For players who like a simple folklore theme and one clever rule to chase, Kupala 2 is a charming night in the meadow. Anyone chasing elaborate features will find the fern blooms once and that’s it.
