Midas VS Medusa WildEnergy Slot Review
A sunlit temple terrace above the Greek hills, Midas on the right in his red cape bracing a bronze shield the size of a cart wheel, a golden fist on a column guarding the left. Strip the artwork away, though, and this is a game built almost entirely around one moment: the duel. Everything else, the urns, the 4,096 ways, the whole economy of the base game, is priced around how badly you’ll want to reach it.
A king whose touch turns things to gold against a queen whose gaze turns them to stone, with 4,096 ways for their argument to pay out. BulletProof have built this one on a 6×4 grid, with stakes from 0.20 to 50 and a 94.0% RTP at Super High volatility. The maximum win is 10,000x the stake, and the battle is how you get there.
The studio’s Caribbean Crush covered similar ground for them more gently. This one wants blood.
Base Game & Features
The base game runs on ways rather than lines: matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left form a win, and only the highest combination per way counts. Four rows across six reels is what produces the 4,096 figure. It means a lot of three-of-a-kind urn wins will drift past on any given spin.
The glossy 3D cartoon look does the theme plenty of favours. Urns fill the lower rungs of the paytable, with the harp, hourglass and a red gem ring climbing above them and the treasure chest sitting on top. The symbol values, as multiples of stake for three, four, five and six of a kind:
- Treasure Chest: 0.5x for two, 1.25x for three, 3.75x for four, 10x for five, 25x for six
- Red Gem Ring: 0.3x for three, 0.75x for four, 2.5x for five, 5x for six
- Harp: 0.2x for three, 0.6x for four, 1x for five, 1.5x for six
- Hourglass: 0.2x for three, 0.5x for four, 1x for five, 1.5x for six
- Red Urn / Gold Urn: 0.15x for three, 0.4x for four, 1x for five, 1.25x for six
- Purple Urn / Green Urn: 0.1x for three, 0.25x for four, 0.6x for five, 0.75x for six
- Blue Urn: 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.4x for five, 0.5x for six
- White Urn: 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.3x for five, 0.4x for six
Hit frequency sits at roughly 41%, so more than one spin in two lands nothing at all. That figure tells you what Super High volatility means here in concrete terms. The base game is a long wait punctuated by occasional urn money.
A full line of treasure chests pays 25x, and everything below the ring pays less than 2x for five. The small symbols alone won’t rescue a session.
VS Symbols
The VS symbol is where the duel actually happens. It lands on reels two, three, four or five in the base game, expands to fill its entire reel, and triggers a fight between the two monarchs. The winner covers that reel as a wild carrying a multiplier between 2x and 50x.
Three rules govern it. Only one VS symbol can sit on a reel at a time. When several winning VS symbols land together, their multipliers add together before applying to the win, so two reels carrying 4x and 5x pay the combination at 9x.
And a VS symbol only fires when it forms part of a win. No duel is ever wasted.
Midas VS Medusa WildEnergy Free Spins & Bonus Buys
Free Spins Bonus
Landing between three and six FS symbols anywhere in view starts the bonus, and the number you land decides what you get:
- 3 FS symbols: 10 free spins with WildEnergy symbols
- 4 FS symbols: 9 free spins with WildEnergy symbols, VS symbols possible on reels 1 and 6, and a retrigger chance on every spin
- 5 FS symbols: the same 9-spin round plus a bonus win of 100x the base stake
- 6 FS symbols: the same 9-spin round plus a bonus win of 250x the base stake
The five and six symbol entries are the interesting ones. They don’t award more spins; they pay a flat bonus on top of the round, 100x or 250x the stake, before a single free spin plays out. Landing the maximum six scatters hands you more than a quarter of a 100x buy before the reels even move.
WildEnergy
WildEnergy symbols appear only in the free spins, and they stay on the reels for two, three, four or five spins before spinning off when their energy runs out. They substitute for everything except VS symbols.
Each one carries its own countdown, so a symbol that arrived on the first spin with five energy will outlast one that arrived later with two. The design logic is straightforward: reels gradually fill with sticky wilds while the round runs, and the 4 FS version’s retrigger chance keeps a good round alive.
Two VS-capable reels at the edges plus wilds holding the middle is where the big combinations live.
Golden Bet and Bonus Chase
Two bet modifiers live behind the MORE GAME MODES button. Golden Bet raises the stake by 50% and dramatically increases the chance of triggering the Free Spins Bonus. Bonus Chase makes each spin five times more likely to start the bonus, at a cost of 3x the base stake.
Same goal, different pricing. One stretches the stake; the other multiplies it outright.
Buy A Bonus
Two straight purchases are on the menu:
- Free Spins Bonus (3 FS): 100x the base stake for a guaranteed 10-spin round with WildEnergy
- Super Free Spins Bonus (4 FS): 240x the base stake for a guaranteed 9-spin round with WildEnergy, VS symbols on reels 1 and 6, and a chance of extra spins
Guaranteed VS Symbols
The final option costs 20x the base stake and guarantees at least two VS symbols on every spin. There’s a catch, though: free spins can’t be won in this mode. It’s a base game upgrade for players who want the duels on tap, not a route into the bonus.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
This is a patient game wearing a flashy one’s clothes. You’ll sit through long stretches of urn money and dead spins for the moments when a VS symbol expands and the two monarchs settle a reel, and the strange thing is that it works: the duel is a good enough payoff to be worth the wait.
The free spins are the best thing here, because they lean into it. Wilds that linger and spin out on their own countdowns, plus a retrigger chance in the upgraded version, give the round a build that the base game never has. The paytable underneath it all is the weakness: below the chest, the symbols pay pocket change, and at 94.0% RTP on Super High volatility the maths is tight before you’ve spun once.
It suits players who enjoy one strong mechanic done properly and can stomach the lean spells to reach it. If steady small wins are what you’re after, the urns will disappoint you here. For everyone else, there are worse ways to watch a king and a queen fight.
