Odin’s Gamble Slot Review 2024
Thunderkick are back for their first release of 2022 and this time we’re kicking it with the gods in Odin’s Gamble!
If you’re a fan of Thunderkick or maybe just in the market for a new Norse Mythology slot, then look no further. Thunderkick don’t like to spoil us with too many releases in a short space of time, but maybe that’s the best way to keep players keen. The last slot offering from Thunderkick was Fortune Cats Golden Stacks, which was released on the 8th December 2021. Since then we have been waiting patiently for another offering from the slot Gods.
If you’re a lover of an older slot, you may be familiar with titles such as Riders of the Storm and Beat the Beast Kraken’s Lair, which are still very much popular to this day.
Will Odin’s Gamble make an impressive new edition to Thunderkick’s portfolio or will it be pushed to the back of the shelf and be forgotten about? Let’s play on and find out!
Odin’s Gamble Theme
If your knowledge on Norse Mythology is a little rusty, Odin is the main God who was said to be an extremely wise and knowledgeable one-eyed man. The Mimirs Well part of the title was a well that stood below the roots of Yggdrasil, also known as the World Tree.
We’ve become acustomed to a Norse Mythology theme in slots, so what makes Odin’s Gamble stand taller than the rest? Well for one, the graphics and design are all really impressive. The background shows the beautiful outdoors, where the roots of the Yggdrasil tree are twined around the entrance to Odin’s lair. In addition to this, a stunning cloudy sky and a random moose can all be seen. The one thing that stands out the most is the alurring glow of the symbols, in particular the Wild symbols. These symbols become even more prominent during the Sticky Win Feature.
The music playing throughout is mystical and magical, which fits in nicely with the theme. Sound effects that can be heard are perfectly in tune with the music and also work well with the theme.
The theme of Odin’s Gamble is one we’ve seen before in many slots, but will Gameplay offer up something more unique?
Odin’s Gamble Betting and Symbols
Odin’s Gamble has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available here is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
The highest paying regular symbol in Odin’s Gamble is the main man Odin himself, followed by the Birds, the Ring, the Necklace and the Pipe. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine.
Wild symbols carry a x2 Multiplier and substitute for all symbols except Scatters.
Odin’s Gamble Base Game and Features
Odin’s Gamble is a 6 reel slot with 466 Ways to win. In order to form a win you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
If you’ve tried your fair share of Thunderkick slots then you’ll recognise that a feature or two has been used in more games than one, albeit in different forms. Odin’s Gamble looks to take inspiration from others in the family too via its Sticky Win Feature.
Sticky Win Feature
During any random spin in the base game, the Sticky Win feature can be triggered.
Once active, the screen will zoom out and 3 or more of the same symbol that lands, will automatically become Sticky, including any Wild symbols that are used as part of the winning combination. The reels will then Respin at no additional cost, if another instance of the Sticky symbol or a Wild lands, those too will become Sticky and another Respin will be awarded.
Respins will come to an end when no more instances of the sticky symbol or Wilds land in view.
Odin’s Gamble Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 10 Free Spins.
Once active, each winning combination that lands automatically triggers the Sticky Win feature.
Roaming Wild Stack
The Roaming Wild that comes into play during the Free Spins round, covers the entire reel its on.
With each Free Spin, the Roaming Wild will jump to another reel and become locked in its position when the Sticky Win feature is active.
Charged Wild Symbol
During the Free Spins round, Charged Wilds can also come into play.
The Multiplier that’s attached to the Charged Wild will be added to the Roaming Wild Stack.
The Multiplier will remain throughout the duration of Free Spins, increasing as additional Multiplier values are being added.
Landing 3 Scatters during Free Spins, awards +5 Free Spins.
Odin’s Gamble: Our Verdict
Releases from Thunderkick are few and far between when compared to others, so expectations are always high when a new release does come around. At it’s core, Odin’s Gamble isn’t too far removed from games that came before it, but it certainly isn’t the same either.
There’s hints and notes of slots like Midas Golden Touch in there, but there’s some innovations like the stacked Wild reel which really brings a new dynamic to the table. In some ways, a lot of Thunderkick’s slots have striking similarities. Midas Golden Touch, Pyramyth and even Gods of Rock and Odin’s Gamble has a little something that ties them all together, but we’re not complaining. Midas Golden Touch was such a simple concept in hindsight, but it enjoyed and still continues to enjoy popularity oweing to its formidable potential.
Anything that may have been made in the image of slots like this can’t really go too wrong, and Odin’s gamble proved to us many times when we tried it what it could do.
In terms of statistics, the potential looks great with a win cap of 19,333x, and the RTP looks very decent too at 96.17%.
Overall, Odin’s Gamble is another fine instalment from Thunderkick. It may not be a strong new contender as Thunderkick’s best yet, but its another example of what a provider can do when they take the time to nurture a slot.
