Thunderkick has long been one of our favourite providers, and it’s easier to see why. With a catalogue packed full of memorable releases, including all-time classics like Riders of the Storm and Midas Golden Touch, they have carved out a special place within the iGaming industry.
Although Thunderkick has scaled back the frequency of its new releases, each new title still arrives with the same enthusiasm, trademark detail, and creative spark that players have come to expect from the studio.
In terms of the maths model, Pan’s Arcadia comes with a 96.10% RTP, which is rather generous for a Thunderkick release. Pair this with a very high volatility profile & you have a setup built around fewer but more impactful hits rather than constant small nudges. Add in the max win potential of 4,320x your bet, and Pan’s Arcadia positions itself as a game capable of excitement & reward.
Their most recent outing, Pink Elephants Trinity, closed out the year in impressive fashion, & with Pan’s Arcadia now stepping into the spotlight, we’re eager to see exactly where Thunderkick plans to take us next…
Base Game & Features
Pan’s Arcadia is a highly volatile 6-reel, 3-row video slot with 13 fixed pay lines. Paytable symbols create winning combinations when 3-6 identical instances land on adjoining reels, starting from reel 1.
Pan, the Golden & Blue Pandora symbols act as the game’s highest-paying symbols, followed by 4 Mystical Characters, Mushrooms, & Flowers. After a spin is complete, each winning combination awards a fixed payout between 0.5x and 36x your bet.
Additionally, Wild symbols may appear on all reels during a session, substituting for all symbols except Scatters. Each Wild symbol applies a x2 Multiplier to all winning combinations it is a part of. A special 2×2 Wild may only appear at the end of a Bonus Game.
Mystery Feature
Throughout gameplay, any winning combination may trigger the Mystery Feature. Once active, all winning symbols are locked into position while the remaining symbols spin again. The Respin Feature continues until no new winning symbols appear or the entire reel set is filled.
Pan’s Arcadia: Free Spins
Triggering the Free Spins mode requires 3 Scatters to land within the same base game spin, awarding 3-18 Free Spins determined by rolling the Scatter Dice.
In this mode, Scatter symbols are collected in sets of 3 across all spins. Once a set is complete, an additional +3 Free Spins is awarded, and a new roll occurs, which multiplies the results & adds its revealed value to the Cube. Advancing the Cube unlocks new Features, up to a maximum of 216, leading to the ‘End Game’.
Bonus Levels
During Free Spins, this mode has 6 Bonus Levels available, plus an ‘End Game’, which is unlocked by advancing the Cube:
- Level 0 (0-35): Maintains the same base game mechanics, only the Scatter Collect feature is active.
- Levels 1-4 (36-179): Nymph symbols transform into Wilds as the Cube value increases. Fire (36), Water (72), Green (108), Yellow (144).
- Level 5 (180): All paytable symbols except the highest-paying are removed from the reels, creating new high-paying symbols known as Dark Pandoras. The Sticky Respin feature activates on every spin, where a single Wild of each element is injected randomly.
- End Game: Begins when the Cube hits 216, and the Free Spins meter reaches 0, awarding +3 Free Spins. The Dark Pandora symbols transform into Pandora of Light icons, while Pan & Pandora pay as one symbol. Only Wilds, Pandora of Light, & Pan remain at this time. Each spin injects a 2×2 Wild in the centre of reels 3 & 4, with an applied x2 Multiplier. The Sticky feature continues to lock symbols without a win, while the 2×2 Wild remains in view if no new symbols appear, but it doesn’t continue the Respin Feature on its own.
Bet+ & Bonus Buy
Players may purchase any of the following Bet+ & Bonus Buy options:
- Bonus Boost: Each spin is 2 times more likely to trigger the Free Spins mode for 1.5x your bet per spin
- Bonus Boost Plus: Each spin is 6 times more likely to trigger the Free Spins mode for 3x your bet per spin
- Mystery Feature: Triggers mystery symbols with every winning combination for 4x your bet
Alternatively, players can purchase a Hope Roll (???), Fire Roll (111), Water Roll (222), Earth Roll (333), Wind Roll (444), Chaos Roll (555), or a Wisdom Roll (666) for 160x, 15x, 55x, 120x, 200x, 300x, and 400x their bet, respectively.
Pan’s Arcadia has a maximum win potential of 4,320x your bet. If a single session exceeds this, the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.
Our Honest Verdict
Pan’s Arcadia delivers a surprisingly tranquil & nurturing atmosphere, wrapping players in calm soundscapes, lush visuals, and a sense of whimsical serenity that only Thunderkick can consistently pull off.
From the moment you step into its mystical world, you’re surrounded by stunning artwork, high-quality animation, & a carefully crafted presentation, which balances charm and charisma in a way that makes the experience immediately engaging, even before you explore its mechanics & features.
The base game does its part in keeping spins engaging, largely thanks to the Mystery Feature. When it activates, winning symbols are locked into place, giving the reels new opportunities to create an even stronger winning combination.
This feature carries a familiar sense of tension & opportunity, working similarly to the Sticky Respin mechanic found in Midas Golden Touch, where every additional symbol feels like it could transform a decent win into something substantial.
The Free Spins mode adds another layer of excitement, where gameplay is once again recognisable, with echoes of the Pink Elephants series, in the way it leans on a Scatter Collection system to push the mode forward.
However, Pan’s Arcadia does not simply hand players a fixed number of Free Spins. Instead, it embraces its mystical theme with a more dynamic approach, where each Scatter reinacts a dice roll, revealing between 1 & 6 Free Spins per Scatter. This keeps gameplay feeling interactive, suspenseful, & thematically on-point, creating a satisfying sense of momentum as you edge towards greater potential.
Talking of potential, Pan’s Arcadia can deliver up to 4,320x your bet, which is a sufficient figure for most players, but it’s not the highest max win capability we’ve seen from a Thunderkick game. What helps balance this is the game’s 96.10% RTP, which stands out even more when you consider Thunderkick’s usual tendency to hover over the 94% region.
All in all, Pan’s Arcadia blends charm, quality, & strong potential into a beautifully balanced Thunderkick experience.
