Rainbow Jackpots Slot Review
A leprechaun lounges at the foot of a Celtic-knotted wooden gateway, dawn light spilling over green hills behind him, and in Rainbow Jackpots he’s not decoration: he’s the entire payout structure. Strip him out and you’d have one of the gentlest paytables Red Tiger have ever shipped, which makes this a slot whose real game hides behind its mascot.
It’s a tidier, smaller game than the Irish theme usually gets. Five reels, three rows and 20 paylines, a 96.14% RTP, bets from 0.10 to 50 per spin, and a 1,054x ceiling on wins. The numbers are modest, and the charm has to carry them.
Nearly everything interesting arrives through one pipe-smoking figure in green. If that appeals, Rainbow Jackpots Megaways took the same idea somewhere louder in 2024, and Golden Leprechaun Megaways runs the same folklore through bigger machinery.
How the Base Game Pays
Wins pay left to right across adjacent reels, on 20 fixed lines. The parchment-cream reel panels sit between thin gold cords with little tassels hanging at the bottom, and the symbols are the familiar Irish kit: clovers, horseshoes and hats up top, with card royals filling out the lower end.
Grass tufts and clover sprigs grow where the stonework meets the lawn, and a golden banner arches over the top of the frame with a tiny pot of gold tucked into the lettering. It’s a polished, storybook version of Ireland rather than a crude one, and the presentation is doing quiet work making modest spins pleasant to sit through.
The hit frequency is 16.4%, so roughly one spin in six produces a winning combination. That sounds generous until you look at what the hits actually pay.
The wild is a gold coin that substitutes for all paying symbols, and it tops the paytable outright at 40x for five of a kind. No regular symbol comes close to that.
All pays are multiples of the line bet, for three, four and five of a kind:
- Wild (gold coin): 5x / 15x / 40x
- Clover: 3x / 6x / 24x
- Horseshoe: 2x / 4x / 16x
- Hat: 1x / 2x / 8x
- A: 0.4x / 0.8x / 4x
- K: 0.2x / 0.5x / 2.5x
- Q: 0.2x / 0.4x / 2x
- J: 0.1x / 0.3x / 1.5x
- 10: 0.1x / 0.2x / 1x
Those are gentle numbers, and they drop away steeply as you move down the list. A full line of hats is worth a third of a clover line, the A pays less for five than the hat does, and everything from the K down is pocket change. Four of a kind is where the falls are sharpest: the clover drops from 6x to 3x between four and three symbols, and the horseshoe halves the same way.
Most base game wins will be small returns on a single line, which is why the hit frequency doesn’t tell the whole story. A game that pays one spin in six but usually pays under a single line’s stake back is frequent without being generous.
Wilds can also stack on a reel, and when several land together they carry most of the decent base game wins the game produces. A stack touching multiple lines can complete several of them at once, which is where the single-line pays start adding up to something worth watching. A stack sitting on the first reel is the strongest case, since it can stand in for the leftmost symbol of any line running through it.
The Lucky Leprechaun
The leprechaun is the engine of the whole game, though he’d never admit it. At random, he blows his pipe, and any of the game’s features, in standard or MEGA form, can fire off the back of it.
There’s no meter filling and no pattern to watch for. He appears when he appears, and the payout structure of the game is built around those moments rather than around the line pays.
For a 5×3 game with modest symbol values, that design choice does a lot of work. Every spin carries the possibility of the pipe, and the MEGA variations are the game’s route to anything approaching a serious multiplier.
It also makes the feature list unusually open-ended. Because the leprechaun’s trigger applies to every feature and every Mega variation alike, there’s no hierarchy of features where one round is strictly better than another by design – the pot-pick free spins are the only round you can work towards, and everything else is his call.
Free Spins and Mega Free Spins
The Free Spins symbol is a scatter, drawn as a pot of gold. Three of them anywhere on the reels trigger the round, regardless of paylines.
The round opens with a choice: three pots sit in front of you, and the one you pick reveals a random number of free spins. It’s a simple pick, but it means two players walking into the same bonus can leave with very different session lengths. The possible awards are:
- 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 or 15 free spins
The spread matters more than it looks. Landing the 5-spin pot gives the round little room to build anything, while 15 spins is three times the runway for the wilds and the leprechaun to do their work inside the bonus.
Note the gaps in that list, too: there’s no 7, no 13, no 14. The awards jump from six straight to eight, then run densely from there, which tilts the pick towards the middle and upper end of the range more than a flat spread would.
Mega Free Spins
The Mega version of the round can’t be triggered by the scatters at all. It arrives at random, and only through the Lucky Leprechaun, which makes him doubly central to how this game pays. The scatter route gets you the standard round; the leprechaun is the only way in to the bigger one.
That split is the game’s sharpest design decision. A player can hit three scatters several times over and never see the Mega round, because the one route to it runs through the same random pipe that drives everything else. Patience with the leprechaun is the whole game.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing Rainbow Jackpots is mostly waiting in a very pretty place. You spin, small wins trickle in, and every so often the little man in green wakes up and the glade turns interesting. That’s the one reason to pick it: nobody else hands the keys to a leprechaun quite so completely.
His unpredictability is the best thing here. Because any feature, in either size, can arrive on any pipe-blast, no two sessions feel built to the same blueprint, and that variety is rare in a 5×3 game this size.
The worst thing is that the same randomness cuts both ways. There’s no working towards the Mega round, and the 1,054x cap means even the good sessions stay polite. This suits players after a relaxed, well-drawn Irish slot with friendly stakes, and nobody chasing big multipliers – they’ll be happier in the Megaways version. Everyone else can settle in under the gateway and let the pipe do its work.
