Royal Invaders Slot Review
Three one-eyed aliens squat on piles of stolen gold above a fairytale castle, and none of them gives up a single coin without a fight. That’s the whole shape of Royal Invaders: the monsters hoard, you chase. Amigo Gaming has taken one of the oldest fruit machines in the book and hung three bonus rounds off it, and it’s the rounds, not the fruit, that earn the chase. It runs on a 5×4 grid with high volatility and a win cap of 2,500x the bet.
The symbols are as traditional as they come, all 7s, BARs and fruit. The aliens leaning over them are not, and what they’re actually doing with all that gold is the interesting part.
Base Game & Features
The reels carry a familiar cast: 7s, three tiers of BAR, then strawberries, grapes, bells, watermelons and the four low fruits. Wins are graded by how many of a symbol lands, starting at six of a kind, and every pay is quoted as a multiple of the total bet rather than a line stake. The full ladder looks like this.
Paytable
- 7: 2500x for 17+, 1000x for 15-16, 500x for 13-14, 250x for 11-12, 25x for 9-10, 10x for 7-8, 5x for 6
- Double BAR: 1000x for 17+, then 500x, 250x, 100x, 10x, 7x and 3x as the counts drop to 6
- Triple BAR: pays 500x, 250x, 100x, 50x, 7x, 5x and 2x across the same seven count bands
- Single BAR and Strawberry: matching ladders of 250x for 17+, 100x for 15-16, 50x for 13-14, 25x for 11-12, 5x for 9-10, 2x for 7-8 and 1x for 6
- Grapes: 100x for 17+, 50x for 15-16, 5x for 13-14 and 11-12, 3x for 9-10, 1x for 8
- Bell: pays 100x and 50x at the top two bands, then 10x, 5x, 3x and 1x down through the tiers
- Watermelon: the same 100x and 50x up top, with 10x, 4x, 3x and 1x beneath
- Orange, plum, lemon, cherry: 50x for 17+, 15x for 15-16, 7x for 13-14, 4x for 11-12, 1x for 9-10
TOKEN Symbols and the Monsters
TOKEN symbols appear in the main game only, landing on top of other symbols and covering them. Each monster attracts TOKENs of its own colour, and after attracting one, any monster may randomly trigger its corresponding bonus. Only one bonus can be active at a time.
The collecting itself is theatre. The number of TOKENs gathered has no impact at all on the trigger odds, so a monster sitting on a mountain of them is no closer to firing than one holding a single TOKEN. When a TOKEN flies off a reel, the symbol it uncovers can still complete a win, which is the one way the covering mechanic pays its way in the base game.
Royal Invaders Bonus Features
FREE GAMES Bonus
The green monster may trigger the FREE GAMES Bonus, which awards 10 free games played at the same bet as the triggering spin. Free games can only be won during the main game, and they can’t be retriggered from inside the round.
The twist is the symbol set. Throughout the free games, the four low-paying fruits (orange, plum, lemon, cherry) don’t appear on the reels at all, leaving only the higher-value symbols in play. Fewer symbols means bigger clusters, and it’s a straightforward upgrade.
PIN WIN Bonus
The pink monster holds the key to the PIN WIN Bonus. The main game reels turn into a 5×3 grid of positions, each holding PIN WIN symbols and empty cells. PIN WIN symbols stick in place when they land; empty cells keep spinning.
Every PIN WIN symbol shows its prize. The ladder runs from the MAX JACKPOT at 300x total bet, through the MID JACKPOT at 100x and the MIN JACKPOT at 50x, down to regular prizes of 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x or 30x total bet.
The round starts with three attempts, and every spin uses one. Any PIN WIN symbol landing resets the attempts back to three, so the bonus runs until you burn three spins without a single stick or fill the whole grid. Cover all 15 positions with PIN WIN symbols and the 1000x ULTRA JACKPOT pays on top, with a counter above the reels tracking how many you still need.
Collected prizes are added up and paid at the end of the round. The bonus is played at the same bet as the initial game, so the jackpot multiples are locked to whatever stake triggered it.
PICK’EM Bonus
Purple is the jester of the trio, and it’s this monster that may open the PICK’EM Bonus. Twenty bags appear on screen, each hiding a regular prize or an AWARD symbol. You pick bags one at a time; regular prizes count as you find them, and an AWARD is granted only once you’ve collected three AWARD symbols of the same kind.
The four AWARDs are colour-graded, running from the ULTRAVIOLET AWARD at 1000x total bet, through the RED at 500x and the BLUE at 100x, to the GREEN at 50x. Regular prizes found along the way pay 5x, 7x, 9x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x or 25x total bet.
Each AWARD symbol you find is tracked in its own counter, and the picking continues until you complete a set of three. Regular prizes plus the collected AWARD are paid together at the end. There’s no opting out mid-round, and no limit on how many regular prizes you can bank before the set completes.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing Royal Invaders is mostly waiting: spinning a plain fruit machine while three aliens hoard gold above your head, waiting for one of them to blink and open a door. That waiting is the price of the PIN WIN round, which is the one reason to pick this over any other fruit slot.
The strength is that PIN WIN grid. Sticky symbols, attempts that reset on every hit, and a 15-position endgame mean one lucky round can run and run. The weakness is everything around it: TOKEN collecting that changes nothing, a free games round that only removes symbols, and a 2,500x ceiling that’s modest for this volatility.
It’s for players who like variety, three completely different bonus rounds over one polished mechanic, and who don’t mind a slow build. Anyone who wants their collecting to matter, or their base game to have teeth, won’t find it here. The monsters can keep their gold, but the pink one’s grid is worth a raid.
