Gamble Feature

During the base game, after a win, you will be given the option to Gamble your total win for a chance to multiply it.

This is done by guessing the correct colour of a face-down playing card which has a winning probability of 50% in order to double your total win amount. You can also guess the suit of a face-down playing card which has a winning probability of 25% in order to quadruple your total win amount.

Scales of Dead Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Tomb Scatters across the reels during the base game triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 8 Free Spins and a payout of 50x, 200x, and 1,000x your bet.

At the start of Free Spins, a High or Low-paying symbol is chosen at random to become your special Expanding symbol. When enough of the Expanding symbol land in view, they will expand to cover the entire reel they are on.

Once expanded, they will award a payout regardless of their position on the reel set. The same Expanding symbol will be used throughout the Free Spins round, including every triggered Sandstorm Free Spin.

Sandstorm Free Spins

Sandstorm Free Spins are triggered when 2 or more Tomb Scatters land in view during the Free Spins round, awarding an additional +4 Free Spins.

During Sandstorm Free Spins, a x2, x3, or x4 Multiplier is applied to each special Expanding symbol that lands in view. The Multiplier is chosen at random after triggering a new Sandstorm Free Spin.

During Sandstorm Free Spins, landing 2 or more Tomb Scatters will award an additional +2 Free Spins, up to a maximum of 30 in total.

Scales of Dead: Our Verdict

Scales of Dead continues the long-running ‘of Dead’ series with another offering with changes that are subtle, yet effective.

The potential compared to classics has been doubled to 10,000x to keep up with the modern trend, but for the most part, it’s a very recognisable adaptation of the old favourites.

Scales of Dead introduces a multiplier feature similar to what we’ve seen in other variants to enhance the potential even further, which is appreciated, but it still doesn’t exactly stand out.

The Sandstorm Spins which increases the longevity of the bonus with a multiplier is a welcome addition, yet we’d have quite liked to see a re-trigger give another special symbol.

Overall, Scales of Dead has significant appeal, but we don’t expect it to be even more popular than any other similar games.
