Second Thunder Slot Review
Second Thunder from Thunderkick throws you straight into the heart of Norse chaos, where Thor stands ready to battle the monsters of Ragnarok!
This latest video slot from the studio comes in the form of 6 reels & 50 fixed pay lines, offering raw, explosive energy, driven by its powerful Wild Field mechanic & epic Feature Row that can unleash Wilds, Scatters, & Reel Multipliers.
Thunderkick has always excelled at combining striking visuals with immersive soundscapes, and Second Thunder reinforces that reputation. The studio’s ability to layer atmospheric audio, bold aesthetics, & fluid animation creates a cinematic experience that elevates every spin.
Pan’s Arcadia may have offered a refined & enjoyable opening to the year, but this release delivers the impact and intensity that was missing. Second Thunder looks to be the statement title that puts Thunderkick back in full stride.
Second Thunder targets risk-hungry players with its 94.20% RTP and 12,500x max win potential, connected by a high volatility profile that delivers infrequent but potentially game-changing payouts.
With Gods, beasts, & legendary power colliding on the reels, this is a slot that may just live up to its name…

Base Game & Features
Consisting of 6 reels, 5 rows, and 50 fixed pay lines, Second Thunder connects winning combinations when 3-6 matching instances land on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1. Thor is the highest-paying symbol, followed by the Wolf, Hog, Reptile, Eagle, Shields, Horns, Axes, & Helmets.
Once a win has been evaluated, it awards a fixed payout between 0.1x and 10x your bet. Other symbols include Wilds, which cover all paytable symbols except Scatters when part of a win. Wilds appear as a single instance or stacks of 2-3 when injected from the Feature Row.

Wild Field Feature
During gameplay, the Wild Field Feature triggers when Wild symbols land on at least 2 reels, creating a rectangle that transforms all enclosed symbols into Wilds. Please note that the Field Area can expand up to 6 reels, and the Free Spins mode may trigger during its appearance.

Feature Row
Atop the main reel set is a special Feature Row, consisting of 6 additional cell positions. The Feature Row may randomly activate in the base game or remain active throughout a session when using Bet+.
Once active, the Feature Row will reveal at least 1 Wild or Scatter, while containing Multipliers between x2 and x10. Reel Multipliers will only activate if the Feature Row is in play, applying each available value to all wins on their respective reels. If more than 1 Multiplier appears in the same spin, their values are added together before being applied to the win.
Second Thunder: Free Spins
Landing 3 Bonus Scatters in the base game triggers the Free Spins session, awarding 5 initial Free Spins. For every Bonus Scatter after the third, a further +2 Free Spins are awarded per Scatter symbol.
In this mode, the Feature Row remains permanently active between spins. When landing 3 or more Bonus Scatters in this mode, a full retrigger of +5 Free Spins is awarded.

Bet+ & Bonus Buy
Players may purchase any of the following Bet+ & Bonus Buy options:
- Bonus Boost: Each spin is 2 times more likely to trigger Free Spins for 1.5x your bet
- Bonus Boost Plus: Each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger Free Spins for 3x your bet
- Presence of Thor: Guarantees a spin with the Feature Row active for 15x your bet
- Thunderstorm: Guarantees the Wild Field Feature for 15x your bet
- Free Spins: Direct access to the Free Spins mode with 3+ Bonus Scatters for 75x your bet
Second Thunder offers a max win potential of 12,500x your bet. If a single session exceeds this, the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.

Our Honest Verdict
Thunderkick deserves a round of applause for the compelling visuals & soundscapes executed in Second Thunder, which create a package of rich atmosphere, impact, and visual identity.
While it may not come as a surprise, given the studio’s reputation for pushing creative boundaries, the way each element comes together in a neat presentation adds genuine weight to every spin, reinforcing the sense of scale behind the theme.
Second Thunder takes a more traditional route than its visual presentation might suggest, relying on fixed pay lines across a 6-reel setup. At first glance, the layout gives the impression of a modern ‘ways to win’ structure, particularly with that extra 6th reel in tow, when in fact, the underlying pay line structure is actually less impressive.
The Wild Field Feature is where the game begins to show its potential, activating whenever 2 Wild symbols land on different reels during the same spin. Once active, the reels are overlaid with a bespoke pattern of additional Wilds, dramatically reshaping the grid & opening a door to larger payouts and extended symbol connections.
When paired with the Feature Row, the Wild Field mechanic gives Second Thunder a far sharper edge, injecting real tension into every spin as reel Multipliers of up to x10 can be applied to winning combinations.
In terms of statistics, Second Thunder builds excitement for its 12,500x max win potential and high volatility profile, which prioritises explosive payout potential over consistency. The game’s 94.20% RTP is what players have come to expect from Thunderkick, with Pan’s Arcadia standing as the recent outlier at 96% – a move that offered a glimpse of what the studio could deliver if the RTP is pushed higher in the future.
All in all, Second Thunder has its moments of excitement & thrill, even if it doesn’t reach the heights Thunderkick once set for itself, having dropped the ball somewhat since the release of Pink Elephants Trinity.
