Super Golden Dragon Inferno Slot Review
Green pillars with gold dragons coiled up their length, red lacquer and fretwork behind the reels: this is Chinese prosperity styling turned up as far as it goes. The claim Betsoft make here is that one respin round, dressed to the nines, is a complete game. Look past the lacquer and the numbers agree with them: the base paytable tops out at 1.2x for five-of-a-kind premiums, so nearly all the real paying is done by the Hold & Win ladder and its 2,000x GRAND.
The chassis is a 5×3 grid with 243 ways to win. Players after the same studio’s touch will find it in Triple Lucky 8’s, Gold Nugget Rush 2 and Phoenix Inferno.
243 Ways and the Paytable
Wins are awarded for left-to-right adjacent symbol combinations across 243 ways, with the highest win per way paying and coinciding wins on different ways combined. It’s the standard all-ways arrangement for a 5×3 grid, and there’s nothing non-standard hiding in it.
Four premium symbols carry the theme and the royals fill the bottom of the table. All values below are multiples of the total bet, so a five-of-a-kind Buddha at a 1.25 stake returns 1.50.
- Buddha (green): 0.12x for two, 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 1.2x for five
- Gold Ingot (orange): 0.12x for two, 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 1.2x for five
- Turtle (purple): 0.12x for two, 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 1.2x for five
- Fish/Dragon (blue): 0.12x for two, 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 1.2x for five
- A, K, Q, J: 0.04x for two, 0.2x for three, 0.48x for four, 0.8x for five
The base wild substitutes for everything except the BONUS, MINI, MINOR and MAJOR symbols, and lands only on reels two to five. That’s the whole of its job; the interesting wild work belongs to the feature reels below.
Stacked Mystery Symbols
Every reel can carry stacked mystery positions. When the spin finishes, all of those positions resolve to a single random symbol, drawn from one pool:
- Buddha, gold ingot, turtle, fish-dragon
- A, K, Q, J
Because every mystery position on the grid fills with the same symbol on the same spin, a full stack landing on adjacent reels can turn into the same premium on several reels at once. The ways system then counts it repeatedly.
There’s no guarantee in it. The shared symbol is as likely to be a royal as a premium, and a stack of Js pays like a stack of Js. What the mechanic buys is the possibility of a wide, many-ways win from a single reveal.
Nudging Multiplier Wild Reel
The wild reel lives on reel three only. When a partial stack of it lands, it nudges up or down to fill the reel completely, and the full wild reel then carries a randomly awarded multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x or 10x, applied to any winning combination it forms part of.
There’s a second chance built in. If the multiplier reel produces no win at all, it holds in place and the other four reels respin for free, once per spin, at the triggering bet. The respin is then evaluated and paid like any other.
It substitutes for everything except the BONUS, MINI, MINOR and MAJOR symbols, same as the base wild. A 10x full reel in combination with a stacked mystery reveal is where the biggest base-game wins come from.
Random Wilds
Random wilds drop onto reels two to five. When one or more of them forms part of a winning combination, a further random wild drops onto the reels, provided it can’t overlap an existing wild and provided it improves the win. Only one extra drops per round.
The three base-game systems don’t mix. Random wilds can’t appear alongside the multiplier wild reel or during the Hold & Win Bonus, and the bonus and the multiplier reel can’t land together either. One system per spin, and that’s that.
Hold & Win Bonus
Six or more scattered BONUS symbols lock in place and open the round, and each triggering symbol carries either a cash value from 1x up to 10x the bet or one of the ladder prizes. Three respins are awarded to start.
Every new BONUS symbol that lands anywhere locks and resets the respin count to three. The round ends when the respins run out or all fifteen positions are locked, at which point every locked prize pays. The ladder, as multiples of the bet:
- MINI: 15x per locked MINI symbol
- MINOR: 30x per locked MINOR symbol
- MAJOR: 200x per locked MAJOR symbol
- GRAND, for locking all fifteen positions: 2,000x
Regular symbol prizes don’t pay during the round, and the bonus plays at the bet of the triggering spin. The GRAND is the top rung of the Hold & Win ladder, and it’s a demanding one: it takes fifteen locked symbols, with respins resetting only on new arrivals, to claim it.
Buy Feature
The Hold & Win round can be bought outright from the base game. The button purchases six or more BONUS symbols and drops you straight into the respins.
The price is 100x the bet. Against a ladder that tops out at 2,000x, with most rounds resolving on a handful of locked cash values rather than a major prize, that’s a steep entry ticket, and it buys no guarantee beyond the trigger.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Time in this game is mostly waiting for one thing, and it’s a good thing to wait for. The mystery stacks and the multiplier reel keep the middle spins honest, but what you’re really doing between bonus rounds is passing time in a very pretty room. The gold dragons are splendid, and they know it.
The strength is the round itself: respins that reset on every lock build genuine tension, and the ladder gives a long running target rather than a single all-or-nothing drop. The weakness is everything around it. The base paytable pays pocket change for a five-of-a-kind premium, and the 100x buy is a lot to pay for a feature that usually settles on small locked values.
It suits Hold & Win players who like one round done properly and don’t need a menu of features to feel entertained. Anyone after rich base-game wins will find the lacquer thicker than the payouts.
Super Golden Dragon Inferno FAQs
-
How does the Hold & Win Bonus trigger?
Six or more scattered BONUS symbols lock in place and open the round, with three respins awarded. Each triggering symbol carries a cash value of 1x to 10x the bet or a MINI, MINOR or MAJOR prize. -
Can the Random Wilds and the Multiplier Wild Reel appear together?
No. The three base-game systems are mutually exclusive. Random Wilds cannot appear alongside the Nudging Multiplier Wild Reel, and neither can occur at the same time as the Hold & Win Bonus. -
How do the Stacked Mystery Symbols work?
Every reel can carry stacked mystery positions, and after the spin all of those positions resolve to the same random symbol, drawn from the premiums (Buddha, gold ingot, turtle, fish-dragon) or the royals (A, K, Q, J). One symbol per spin fills every mystery position. -
How many paylines does Super Golden Dragon Inferno have?
It doesn’t use fixed paylines at all: wins are formed across 243 ways, paying for adjacent symbols left to right. Only the highest win per way counts. -
What is the grid size of Super Golden Dragon Inferno?
It’s a 5×3 grid: five reels and three rows, with 243 ways to win across them. -
Can you buy the bonus on Super Golden Dragon Inferno?
Yes. The Buy Feature purchases six or more BONUS symbols to trigger the Hold & Win respins immediately, at a price of 100x your bet. -
What are the jackpot prizes in Super Golden Dragon Inferno?
The prize ladder pays 15x the bet for each locked MINI, 30x for each MINOR, 200x for each MAJOR, and a GRAND of 2,000x the bet for locking all fifteen BONUS symbols in the Hold & Win Bonus. -
What does the Nudging Multiplier Wild Reel do?
It appears on reel three only. A partial stack nudges up or down into a full wild reel carrying a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x or 10x, and if it produces no win, it holds in place while the other four reels respin once for free.
