The Collector Slot Review
Down in a brick-vaulted cellar, a gloved dandy in a brown suit holds a ruby ring up to the light while a steel vault door looms behind him. The Collector’s paytable is almost decorative – six of the best symbol pays 3x the bet – because Betsoft have pushed nearly all the money into the frames and reveals instead, and whether that pays off is the whole question of this game.
Betsoft have built a game that looks like a heist and pays like a coin collector, stacking features harder than recent efforts like Midnight Bandits and The VIP. It runs on a 6×5 grid with 19 fixed paylines, winning symbols lock in place and build golden frames, and the ceiling is 15,000x the bet with a thin paytable underneath. The locks and reveals are where the money sits.
How the Base Game Pays
Wins pay left to right across the 19 fixed lines, with the highest combination on each line counting and coinciding wins on different lines added together. Bonus rounds play at the bet of the spin that triggered them, and payouts scale with whatever stake you’ve set.
The paytable is a modest one. Values below are multiples of the total bet:
- Pharaoh Mask – 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x for three to six
- Red Ring / Crown – 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x
- Golden Statue / Dagger – 0.3x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x
- A – 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.5x, 0.7x
- K – 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.7x
- Q – 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x
- J – 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.6x
- 10 – 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.5x
The wild, a man with glasses, substitutes for every regular symbol and appears on all reels. It stands in for nothing among the feature symbols, and six of it pays 3x the total bet, level with the Pharaoh Mask at the top of the table.
Lock and Re-Drop
This is the engine under the base game. When a winning combination lands, the symbols in it lock in place and turn into golden frames. Everything else drops away, and new symbols fall into the gaps.
If those new symbols make or extend a win, they lock too, and another re-drop follows. The chain runs until no new win forms, and everything is paid out at the end of the round rather than spin by spin. Scatter and Feature Medallion symbols that land alongside a win also lock, though they don’t create frames.
Golden Reveal
If a Feature Medallion is still standing on the grid when the re-drop chain finishes, the reveal begins. Every golden frame on the grid opens to show a Coin, a Blue Key, a Red Key or a Golden Pot. The medallion can only appear once per round, so this is a one-shot per spin.
Coins carry prize values from 0.2x up to 500x the triggering bet. The Blue Key multiplies coin and already-collected pot values on adjacent positions, while the Red Key does the same across the whole grid. Both can apply multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x or 20x.
The Golden Pot is the collector itself. It gathers every visible value after keys have done their work, including values other pots have already taken. The positions it emptied then reveal again, and the process repeats until nothing is left to open. All displayed coin and pot values are then added together and paid.
Bonus Games
Three or more FS scatter symbols trigger a bonus game, and what you get depends on how many landed. All of the free-spins rounds follow the same pattern: locks, re-drops and reveals work exactly as they do in the base game, but each round starts with a clean grid, discarding any frames built before the trigger.
Collector’s Fortune
Three scatters offer a choice between this and Relic Collection. Collector’s Fortune awards 10 free spins, and the difference from the base game is persistence: golden frames stay on the grid for the whole feature, even after they’ve been used in a reveal. Frames that survive become permanent reveal stations for the rest of the round.
Grand Collector’s Fortune
Four scatters offer the grand version of the same choice. It awards 12 free spins with better odds of high-value coins, bigger pot builds, and a guaranteed Blue Key or Red Key whenever Golden Reveal fires.
Gallery of Masterpieces
Five scatters skip the choice and go straight to the top free-spins round: 12 free spins under Grand Collector’s Fortune rules, with a Feature Medallion guaranteed on every spin. A reveal on every spin, on a grid where frames never clear, is what the top of the paytable is built around.
Across all three free-spins rounds, two scatters award 2 extra spins and three scatters award 4 more.
Relic Collection
The alternative pick at three scatters is a respin game. You get 3 respins on a grid stripped down to Coins, Blue Keys, Red Keys, Golden Pots, Adding Books, Multiplying Books and Vases. Each respin burns one from the counter, and any non-Vase symbol that lands and activates resets it to three.
Coins and pots hold their positions until collected or until the feature ends. Keys don’t hold and can come back on later respins. Vases do nothing at all.
The Books
The Adding Book drops a value of up to 500x the bet onto one random coin or pot every spin, while the Multiplying Book boosts one random coin or pot by up to 20x. Both stay on the grid until the feature ends, so they keep working the same targets. Where they clash, the Adding Book acts first, books act before keys, and the Red Key acts before the Blue.
Grand Relic Collection
Four scatters upgrade the respin game with richer coins, bigger pot builds and a guaranteed Adding Book from the very start. The round ends when the respins run out or the grid fills with non-Vase symbols, at which point every displayed value is totalled and paid.
Buy Bonus
There are four options in the buy panel. The two round buys are priced as multiples of the bet:
- Grand Bonus Hunt – 3x the bet, makes each spin 5x more likely to trigger a bonus game
- Golden Reveal – guarantees at least one Feature Medallion per spin while active
- Bonus Game – 100x the bet, choice of Collector’s Fortune or Relic Collection
- Grand Bonus Game – 250x the bet, choice of the grand versions
Grand Bonus Hunt and Golden Reveal are activations rather than one-off purchases, staying in force across spins until switched off. The Bonus Game buys drop you straight into the round of your choice at the triggering spin’s stake.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing this one is a lot like being the man in the cellar: you’re not hunting a single prize, you’re amassing, and the line wins along the way are pocket change you barely bank. That’s the reason to choose it. Every spin feeds the same grid, and the game is honest about where its real money lives.
The persistence is genuinely good design. Frames that survive their own reveal and then stick for a full free-spins round mean a bonus builds on itself instead of resetting after the first payout, which is more than most collect games offer. The weak side is the road there: the base game between reveals is thin line wins and re-drop chains, and the quick way past it buys a guaranteed Feature Medallion rather than an actual result.
It’s a game for the patient accumulator rather than the jackpot chaser, and it won’t reward anyone who wants regular line-pay hits. For the right temperament, the vault is well stocked.
The Collector FAQs

How does the Lock and Re-Drop feature work?
