Thor’s Vengeance Slot Review
A stone shrine clings to a snowy cliff, its carved pillars banding bronze and drifting teal vapour into a pale sky, gold knotwork curling over the corners of the reel frame. Thor’s Vengeance stakes everything on the god this shrine was built for: when he doesn’t appear, that ornate frame is holding nothing but a plain 6×4 grid. It’s a bolder design than the rune-ringed setting suggests.
Red Tiger have built it on a 95.66% RTP and a calculated maximum multiplier of 5,249x, with bets from 0.10 to 50 per spin. It keeps company with studio stablemates like Dragon’s Fire Megaways and Thor’s Rage. The question is whether Thor himself earns the top billing.
Paying Symbols
The grid is a 6×4 arrangement, with the number 2,304 displayed on screen beside the reels and no explicit label such as ‘ways’ or ‘paylines’ given, and a hit frequency of 30.37%, so roughly every third spin connects. Only the highest combination is paid per symbol. Where several wins land in the same spin, the payouts are added together.
Eight symbols carry the pays. The premium tier is themed: a gold mask that wouldn’t look out of place in Odin’s hall, a silver and blue wolf head, a red wolf head, and a green eagle head. Below them sit the four card suits, spade down to club. The gold mask is the only symbol that pays for two of a kind; the card suits all need at least three.
The wild is a hammer that substitutes for all paying symbols. Thor can also drop a 2×2 Super Wild onto the reels as part of his hammer feature, covering four positions at once.
All pays are multipliers of the current bet, per symbol combination:
- Gold Mask: 6 pays 3x, 5 pays 2x, 4 pays 1x, 3 pays 0.8x, 2 pays 0.2x
- Silver/Blue Wolf Head: 6 pays 2.5x, 5 pays 1.5x, 4 pays 0.8x, 3 pays 0.5x
- Red Wolf Head: 6 pays 2x, 5 pays 1.2x, 4 pays 0.6x, 3 pays 0.4x
- Green Eagle Head: 6 pays 1.5x, 5 pays 0.8x, 4 pays 0.5x, 3 pays 0.3x
- Spade: 6 pays 1x, 5 pays 0.6x, 4 pays 0.4x, 3 pays 0.2x
- Heart: 6 pays 0.8x, 5 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 0.3x, 3 pays 0.2x
- Diamond: 6 pays 0.6x, 5 pays 0.4x, 4 pays 0.2x, 3 pays 0.1x
- Club: 6 pays 0.4x, 5 pays 0.3x, 4 pays 0.2x, 3 pays 0.1x
When Thor Appears
Between spins, the shrine sits quiet. Then Thor may appear, and he brings one of four interventions with him. Three of them shake up the base game; the fourth exists purely to reach the bonus round.
Thor’s Lightning
Thor summons lightning, and it does one of two things. Either it removes all card suit symbols from the reels, or it swaps random symbols for more of the same type or for wilds.
Clearing the low pays is the quieter outcome: every suit on the grid disappears at once, leaving only themed symbols and wilds in play. The symbol swap is the one that can turn a modest grid into something much better paid, particularly when the wilds pile up. A full swap of the gold mask across several reels is where this feature does its biggest work.
Thor’s Hammer
Thor throws his hammer, which nudges the reels and/or rows into a guaranteed win. The throw may also add a 2×2 Super Wild to the reels, again for a guaranteed win.
It’s the one intervention that never leaves a spin empty-handed. A nudge can salvage a grid that landed one position short, and the Super Wild filling a 2×2 block of a 6×4 grid covers a lot of ways at once. Since the wild substitutes for every paying symbol, that block completes any premium combination it touches.
Thor’s Multiplier
Lightning strikes the multiplier shield and activates a win multiplier, applied to all wins in the same spin. The possible values are:
- x5, x6, x8, x9, x10, x12, x15, x16, x18, x20
Thor’s Generosity
When only two Free Spins scatters are on the reels, Thor may appear and summon lightning to turn one random symbol into a third scatter, triggering the bonus round on the spot. It’s a small mercy with a big effect: the two-scatter near miss is where most games simply leave you waiting.
Free Spins
Three Free Spins scatters anywhere on the reels award a bonus round of 8 free spins, and each additional scatter beyond the first three adds 4 more. Four scatters means 12 to start; five means 16. The round uses a different set of reel strips to the base game, so the symbol distribution isn’t the same once you’re inside.
The centrepiece is the Rising Win Multiplier. Every win during the round increases it by 1, it persists until the end of Free Spins, and it’s applied to each win along the way. A run of small wins early is therefore worth more than it looks, because every one of them pushes the counter up for the wins that follow.
If Thor’s Multiplier activates during the round, its value is added to the current multiplier rather than replacing it, so a well-timed shield strike can shove the counter a long way up in one go. Retriggers work the same way as the entry: 3 scatters during the round award 8 more free spins, with each additional scatter adding 4.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing this is a long sit on a very pretty cliff, waiting for the weather to change. The spins between Thor’s visits are ordinary ones, and the game does nothing to hide that; the reason to be here is the moment he arrives, because every intervention he brings is worth having, and the two-scatter rescue is the nicest of the lot.
The bonus round is the best-built thing here: a multiplier that climbs on every win and stacks with the shield makes even small hits feel like progress towards something. The weakest thing is the return. It sits below most of the modern competition and no feature softens it; you’re paying for the spectacle in the long run, and the spectacle isn’t guaranteed.
It’s a good pick for anyone who values a base game that can erupt at any moment and doesn’t measure a slot by its RTP alone. If quiet stretches on a frozen hillside would put you off, Asgard will feel a long climb. For the rest, the view alone is nearly worth it, and the thunder is better.
