Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme Slot Review
A blue storm vortex churns at the heart of a gilded Asgardian relic, gold-and-sapphire metalwork framing a logo split by a jagged lightning bolt. Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme builds its four jackpots out of your own misses: every Cash symbol that lands without a collector quietly feeds a ladder that keeps its values between sessions, which makes it a rare very-high-volatility slot designed to be played in instalments rather than raids.
It’s a maximalist take on the format, and it backs the ornament up with substance: a 6×4 grid, 4,096 ways to win, 96.00% RTP and very high volatility. It sits in a crowded family alongside Thunderstruck Wild Lightning, Stormchaser and Stormblitz, and it’s the greediest of the lot. Stakes run from 0.20 to 50.00 per spin. The question is whether the jackpot ladder and the two bonus rounds carry that much gold.
Base Game & Features
Way wins run left to right from the first reel, paying on adjacent positions only, and only the highest combination counts per way. The premium symbols are drawn from the theme’s Norse palette, with the Viking head on top and a runic set filling out the lower end. It’s a familiar shape, but the collect mechanics give the base game plenty to do between bonuses.
- Viking head: 1x for two, 1.4x for three, 2x for four, 2.6x for five, 5x for six
- Fire ring (red) and green orb: 0.4x, 1x, 1.4x, 2x, 2.6x
- Blue crystal and purple stone: 0.2x, 0.8x, 1.2x, 1.4x, 2x
- Runes A and K: 0.6x for three, 1x, 1.2x, 1.4x
- Runes Q and J: 0.4x for three, 0.8x, 1x, 1.2x
- Runes 10 and purple rune: 0.2x for three, 0.6x, 0.8x, 1x
Wild Symbols
Wilds appear on reels two to six in the base game, substituting for everything except Scatter, Cash and Collect symbols, and they carry no payout of their own. In Free Spins they retreat to reels two to four, which is where their multipliers start to matter.
Collect Feature and Respins
Collect symbols land on reels one and six, while Cash symbols can appear on every reel. When both show up, each Collect symbol awards every Cash symbol on the screen, with Cash values ranging from 0.2x to 20x the total bet in the base game.
There’s a safety net built in. Land Collect symbols on reels one and six with no Cash symbols anywhere, and the two outer reels lock while reels two to five respin with Cash symbols and blanks. One or more Cash symbols is guaranteed to land, so the near-miss always converts into something.
Rising Rewards Jackpot
Every Cash symbol that lands without a Collect symbol alongside it earns a token, and tokens push 1 to 4 of the jackpots up by 0.1x to 1x the bet. The values are retained between sessions until awarded, and the four tiers stack up like this:
- Mini: starts at 5x the bet, caps at 25x
- Minor: starts at 10x, caps at 50x
- Major: starts at 100x, caps at 250x
- Mega: starts at 1,000x, caps at 2,500x
Jackpot values scale with your bet, so the ladder moves when you do. When the feature triggers, it reveals 8 to 18 Cash prizes plus 1 to 4 jackpots, and everything revealed is awarded.
Each jackpot can pay multiple times within a single feature, resetting to its starting value after the first hit. It can’t trigger at the same time as the Bonus Choice, and the collection pot on screen is pure decoration.
Bonus Multiplier
Two Scatters on reels one to five without a third push the Bonus Multiplier up by 0.5x, to a maximum of 5x built in the base game. It applies to every win in Free Spins and Gold Blitz, then resets to 1x once the feature finishes, sometimes climbing back by 0.5x or 1x at random on your return to the base game.
Thunderstruck Gold Blitz Extreme Free Spins and Gold Blitz
Bonus Choice
Three or more Scatters anywhere award a payout and a choice of two features. The more Scatters you land, the richer both options get:
- 3 Scatters: 1x bet payout, 8 Free Spins or 2 Gold Blitz spins
- 4 Scatters: 2x bet, 12 Free Spins or 3 Gold Blitz spins
- 5 Scatters: 3x bet, 20 Free Spins or 5 Gold Blitz spins
- 6 Scatters: 5x bet, 30 Free Spins or 7 Gold Blitz spins
Free Spins
Every Wild that forms part of a way win carries a random 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier for that way, and multiple Wilds on the same way all multiply. The Bonus Multiplier then applies to the total win of every spin, so a well-stacked spin compounds fast. Cash and Collect symbols don’t appear here at all.
Retriggers are generous. 2 to 6 Scatters during the round award an extra 5, 8, 12, 20 or 30 spins respectively, matching the trigger ladder all the way up.
Gold Blitz
Gold Blitz strips the reels back to Collect, Collect Retrigger, Retrigger and Cash symbols only, with every other position blank. A Collect symbol is guaranteed on reel one each spin, and a win is guaranteed on every spin. Cash values climb to 100x in this mode, well above the base game ceiling of 20x.
The reel-six symbols are where the spins extend. The Collect Retrigger awards all landed Cash symbols plus one extra spin, while the plain Retrigger adds a spin without collecting. The Bonus Multiplier applies to every spin’s total, so a long run compounds quickly.
Bonus Buy
The Bonus Buy bypasses the Scatters and takes you straight to the Bonus Choice at the same tiers as the trigger ladder. At a 1x Bonus Multiplier the four options are priced as follows, and pricing scales with the multiplier you’ve built:
- 3 Scatters (8 Free Spins or 2 Gold Blitz spins): 30x bet
- 4 Scatters (12 Free Spins or 3 Gold Blitz spins): 50x bet
- 5 Scatters (20 Free Spins or 5 Gold Blitz spins): 80x bet
- 6 Scatters (30 Free Spins or 7 Gold Blitz spins): 120x bet
Purchases play at your current bet and run at 96.25% RTP, slightly above the standard game’s 96.00%. The buy options may not be available above a certain bet threshold.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most of a session here is spent feeding meters rather than cashing wins, and that’s the point: the jackpots keep their values between sittings, so the storm remembers you when you come back. That ladder is the one reason to pick this over Wild Lightning or Stormchaser, and it’s a real one.
The Bonus Choice is the best of it. Free Spins and Gold Blitz play like genuinely different rounds rather than one bonus in two coats, and the rising Bonus Multiplier prices your patience into whichever you take. The cost is the base game’s pace: wins land on fewer than three spins in ten, and the symbol pays that fill the gaps are thin.
It suits players who enjoy a slow build and will return for it, and it’ll frustrate anyone who wants frequent action. For that second group, the rest of the Thunderstruck family covers the same ground with more weather per spin. For the first, the gold is genuinely worth waiting on.
