Thunderstruck Wild Lightning Mega Moolah Slot Review
Thor’s world sits drowned and glowing under a graded teal that fades to midnight, pale shafts of light drifting down through the water, bronze serpents coiled along the frame. And bolted onto all that cold blue, a hot-orange sunburst panel shouting about jackpots. The mismatch is honest: this is a full-blooded feature slot first and a jackpot vehicle second, and the game is better for the collision.
That’s the whole pitch. Stormcraft Studios have taken their 2021 Norse epic Thunderstruck Wild Lightning and hung four networked progressives off the side of it, and the orange panel sits there like a sponsor’s logo on a longship sail. Underneath is a 5×4 grid with 40 fixed paylines, high volatility, a hit rate of 23.57%, and stakes from 0.20 to 16.00. The RTP is stated as 86.70%, with an additional 5.30% jackpot contribution. Sister titles include Thunderstruck Stormchaser and Immortal Romance 2.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right across the 40 fixed paylines, and only the highest combination on each line counts. Scatter wins pay on the total bet and are added to regular wins. It’s a conventional setup.
The wild is a stacked male figure who substitutes for everything except scatters and Thunderballs, multiplying any win he completes in the base game. He pays for his own combinations too, unmultiplied.
Two Thunderball types do the collecting work. Blue ones land on all reels; gold ones only on reels 4 and 5, and every gold Thunderball that lands is collected towards the feature. The prizes shown on them scale with your bet size. Here’s the full paytable:
- Red/orange fire symbol: 1.5x, 5x, 25x for three, four, five
- Gold orb: 1x, 3x, 15x
- Green orb: 1x, 2.5x, 12.5x
- Blue horseshoe orb: 0.9x, 2x, 6x
- Purple orb: 0.8x, 2x, 5x
- Rune stone A and K: 0.5x, 1x, 3x
- Rune stone Q and 1: 0.3x, 0.8x, 2.5x
- Rune stone 10 and J: 0.2x, 0.6x, 2x
A collection meter also sits in the base game, tracking scatter pairs towards the WildStorm feature. It only ticks up when exactly two scatters land together on a spin, and it resets on use. That makes it a slow burn by design.
The base game’s character comes from those two threads running at once. Thunderballs stack towards one bonus, scatter pairs trickle towards another, and the wild multipliers keep ordinary wins from feeling entirely dead between them.
Those small cash values riding on the Thunderball orbs are worth a glance, because they’re what the hold-and-win round pays out later. Bigger orbs carry bigger prizes, and the jackpot-carrying ones only show up once the feature opens its upper rows.
Thunderstruck Wild Lightning Mega Moolah Bonus Features
ULTRA Link&Win™
Six or more Thunderball symbols in the base game trigger the ULTRA Link&Win™ feature, and it’s the one place the grid grows. Four rows start open with four locked; you get three spins, and the triggering Thunderballs hold in place. Every new Thunderball that lands also holds and resets the spins to three.
The locked rows are the prize. Landing 15, 20, 25 and 30 Thunderballs unlocks rows 5, 6, 7 and 8 in sequence, and the jackpot Thunderballs only appear on those upper rows. Fill every position and the Diamond jackpot is yours. The feature ends when spins run out or the grid fills, with all cash and jackpot prizes awarded at the end.
Free Spins Selection
Three or more scatters anywhere open a selection screen where you pick from any free spins realm you’ve unlocked. Bets and lines match the triggering spin. The realms unlock in sequence as you trigger free spins, and each can be retriggered apart from Svartalfheim.
- Jotunheim – 15 spins, wild multipliers of 2x, 3x or 5x, wins up to 32,000.00. Unlocked on the first trigger.
- Vanaheim – 12 spins, wild multipliers of 2x, 4x or 6x, wins up to 34,000.00. Unlocked after 5 triggers.
- Alfheim – 9 spins, wild multipliers of 3x, 5x or 8x, wins up to 52,000.00. Unlocked after 10 triggers.
- Nidavellir – 6 spins, wild multipliers of 5x, 8x or 12x, wins up to 56,000.00. Unlocked after 15 triggers.
The pattern trades spins for multiplier weight. Fewer spins, fatter wilds, and the multiplier is drawn randomly for each winning combination rather than fixed per realm.
Svartalfheim Free Spin
The fifth realm works differently. Collect 20 scatter pairs on the WildStorm meter in the base game and you earn a single free spin with the guaranteed WildStorm feature, which turns up to five reels fully wild and holds them for that spin. It can pay up to 128,000.00, comfortably more than any other realm.
There’s a safety net too. If the WildStorm spin produces no win, the meter isn’t drained and the free spin stays available at the next selection. Scatters don’t appear during it, so there’s no retriggering.
Wild Lightning
Inside free spins, a wild landing on reels 2, 3 or 4 charges that position. Land another wild there and the whole reel goes wild for that spin, after which the charge clears. Some positions can arrive already charged when a free spins round starts: up to three in Nidavellir, one in Vanaheim, two in Alfheim. It doesn’t run during Svartalfheim.
Mega Moolah Progressive Jackpot
This one can fire on any base game spin, at random, with the chance scaling with your bet. The bonus game is a wheel split into coloured segments for the four progressive jackpots: Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Whichever segment the wheel stops on is the jackpot you take, and the win is added to any payline wins.
It can’t be won during free spins, and progressive play is real-money only. Current jackpot values display in the game at all times, resetting worldwide after each win.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing this feels like standing at the bottom of that drowned Norse sea, watching meters fill. The reason to pick it over a plain jackpot game is that the waiting is genuinely going on somewhere: every spin feeds the Thunderballs, the scatter pairs or the wild multipliers, so a session never quite flatlines. That’s rare at this end of the market.
The five realms are the real prize, not the wheel. Each one plays differently enough that unlocking the next actually means something. The letdown is the ceiling: stakes stop at 16.00.
This one’s for players who want a long-haul feature game with a progressive ticking underneath it, not for anyone after quick bonus rounds or big-stake action. Thor’s ocean runs deep, and it rewards the patience to swim down.
