Towering Pays Valhalla Slot Review
Woven timber pillars and golden portraits of Odin, Thor, Loki and a Valkyrie line the frame in cold blue light, and none of it pays a penny. Towering Pays Valhalla is one of the rare slots where the board itself is the prize: ReelPlay built a game that starts small, keeps everything you earn, and leaves the artwork as the thing you look at while it grows.
The grid starts at 5×3 with 15 paylines and grows all the way to 5×8 with 65, and every expansion holds until a feature offer arrives. The maths runs at 95.7% RTP, or 96.5% on bonus buys, with Medium-High volatility and a 10,000x maximum prize, with the supplier quoting wins up to 6,500x on the default configuration.
Anyone who has chased the studio’s West Coast Cash Infinity Reels or Odin Lightning Blitz will know ReelPlay likes a system that builds. Here the climb is the whole game; the hall around it is very fine furniture.
Base Game & Features
Stage Play
Play opens on a 5×3 grid with 15 paylines. Land at least one Tower and the reels carrying Towers each push the game to its next stage. Every stage adds one row and 10 extra paylines, and the build continues until the full 5×8 grid with 65 lines is in play.
Two details give this teeth. Symbols on the added rows only become enabled on the following spin, so an expansion is a promise rather than an instant payday.
Each bet level also climbs on its own, so switching stakes means starting the ladder again. Stage play resets when a free spins feature ends or an offer is rejected.
Mega Tower Magic
Towers are grouped on reels 1, 2 and 3 in normal play and during the Valkyrie and Loki features. In the Thor and Odin features they extend to reel 4, and in the Odin feature’s 5×8 grid they can appear on every reel. After any spin, all Towers on the grid change to the same random symbol before pays are awarded.
The Horns of Odin stand in for every symbol on the board apart from Towers. A prize multiplier can land on any winning spin too, scaling with the grid: x2 at 5×3, then x3, x4, x5, x7 and finally x10 once the full 5×8 is active.
Paytable
Symbol values below are multiples of the total bet. All symbols pay left to right only, wins on different lines are added, and only the highest combination counts on each line.
- Horns of Odin (wild): 6.4x for three, 24x for four, 200x for five
- Red Viking Head: 4x for three, 12x for four, 120x for five
- Orange Fox Head: 3.2x for three, 8x for four, 80x for five
- Green Ram Head: 2.4x for three, 5.6x for four, 40x for five
Those are lean numbers for a top end, and roughly one spin in four pays anything at all, with the hit rate sitting at 26.86%. The paytable isn’t where this game keeps its money.
It’s in the multiplier ladder and the grid growth, and both of those only pay off once the climbing starts.
Towering Pays Valhalla Feature Trail & Free Spins
The Feature Trail
Fill reels 1, 2 and 3 with at least one Tower apiece while the 5×8 grid is active and a feature offer arrives. The offer can be taken, or rejected in order to play on for a better one.
The features arrive in a fixed order: Valkyrie, Loki, Thor and finally Odin, and the Odin offer must be accepted when it appears. That accept-or-reject decision is the heart of the game. Take the Valkyrie feature early and the trail resets; hold your nerve and the guarantees get stronger the deeper you go. Each bet level has its own trail, reset whenever a feature is accepted.
The Free Spins Features
Every feature awards seven free spins, starts play on the 5×3 grid, and runs at the bet of the triggering game. One extra free spin is awarded for each reel carrying a Tower in the active grid. A hard cap of 10,000x the bet ends any feature that reaches it.
- Valkyrie Free Spins: seven spins, prize multiplier possible on any win, Towers on reels 1-3
- Loki Free Spins: seven spins, prize multiplier guaranteed on any win, Towers on reels 1-3
- Thor Free Spins: seven spins, prize multiplier possible, Towers on reels 1-4
- Odin Free Spins: seven spins, prize multiplier possible, Towers on reels 1-4 and on all 5 reels once the 5×8 grid is reached
The Odin feature is the one the whole build serves. With Towers free to land on every reel at full grid, symbol shifts can fill the board, and the x10 multiplier is live. It’s also the only offer the game won’t let you refuse.
Buy Bonus
The Buy Bonus awards one of the four free spins features, chosen from a feature wheel, and uses the current unit stake. Higher buy costs improve the wheel used. The feature rules are identical to the corresponding free spins round, and the buy runs at 96.5% RTP against 95.7% in normal play.

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Sessions here are long waits between moments that matter. Towers land, rows stack on, 15 lines become 65, and the grid you built survives spin after spin. That persistence is the one reason to choose this over any other Norse slot on the shelf, and a mythology about a hall you never have to leave suits it perfectly.
The strength is that nothing gets thrown away: expansions hold until an offer arrives, and turning down a small one to push for Odin is a real decision rather than a coin flip. The weakness is the wait itself. Five Vikings pays 120x, the hit rate is one spin in four, and the base game funds very little of the climb.
The patient will get the most from it, and so will anyone who likes a build that means something and a choice waiting at the top. Anyone after fast bonuses and regular hits will find the pace punishing. For builders, the hall doors stay open.
