Trees of Treasure Slot Review
Strings of round gold coins hang from a twilight orchard canopy, dangling into a sunset sky behind a reel frame of stamped gold and deep oxblood red. Trees of Treasure spends almost all of its money on the picture and almost none of it on the reel set underneath, and that’s the whole story of this game: one genuinely clever bonus round wrapped in the most traditional 5×3 chassis Pragmatic Play could find. The prosperity-garden look is done with real polish, right down to a logo overflowing out of a treasure urn.
The maths is more old-school than the artwork suggests: a 5×3 grid with 20 fixed paylines, 96.10% RTP and high volatility. Stakes run from 0.20 to 240.00 per spin, and the whole game builds towards one feature, the Money Respin round, which caps out at 15,000x the total bet. Think of it as a cousin of Chests of Cai Shen or 888 Gold, two other Pragmatic takes on the same well of fortune imagery.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a straightforward 5×3, 20-payline setup. Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels, and only the highest win per line counts. Wins on multiple lines are added together, so a spin can pay across several rows at once. A wild appears on the reels and substitutes for all symbols except the scatter, which is its entire job here.
The premium symbols carry the theme: a golden dragon head, a phoenix and a turtle sit above a coin pouch, with A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 filling out the low end. The dragon is the one to watch, paying from just two of a kind while every other symbol needs at least three.
- Golden Dragon Head: 2 pays 10x, 3 pays 20x, 4 pays 30x, 5 pays 100x
- Phoenix: 2 pays 4x, 3 pays 8x, 4 pays 16x, 5 pays 40x
- Turtle: 3 pays 4x, 4 pays 8x, 5 pays 16x
- Coin Pouch: 3 pays 2x, 4 pays 4x, 5 pays 12x
- A / K: 3 pays 1x, 4 pays 3x, 5 pays 8x
- Q: 3 pays 0.75x, 4 pays 2x, 5 pays 4x
- J: 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 2x, 5 pays 4x
- 10 / 9: 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 1x, 5 pays 2x
All values are multiples of the line bet. That top line is decent without being spectacular; the real money in this game lives in the respin round, not the paytable. The royals pay so little that they’re mostly there to keep the reels ticking over between feature attempts.
Two bet options sit alongside the reels, and both of them buy you a better shot at the bonus:
- Ante Bet: raises the bet multiplier from 20x to 30x, adding more scatter symbols to the reels for a higher chance of triggering the Money Respin round
- Double Chance to Win Feature: an on/off toggle in the side panel that improves the odds of the feature at the cost of a higher stake
Normal play runs at the 20x multiplier. Either option is a straightforward price for frequency, nothing more exotic than that, and both can be switched off at any time between spins.
Trees of Treasure Bonus Features
Hit three or more scatter symbols anywhere on screen and the normal reels disappear. In their place come special reels carrying only money symbols and blanks, and the round runs on respins rather than free spins. It’s a hold-and-win format at heart, with a tiered twist on the prize values.
You start with three respins. Every money symbol that lands locks in place and resets the respins to three, and the round only ends when the respins run out or the grid fills completely. A blank costs you one respin; a money symbol costs you nothing and buys you three more chances.
Locked money symbols stay where they fell for the whole round, so a grid gradually fills with fixed values. That’s the engine of the feature: the more of the grid that’s already locked, the fewer landing spots remain, and a full grid ends the round on the spot.
The twist is the tier sequence. Money symbols arrive in a fixed order of bronze, then silver, then gold, then bronze again. Early in the round you’re collecting small bronze values; if the round survives long enough, every new symbol lands at the gold rates. The tiers don’t change how the round plays, only what it pays, and the longer it runs the more each symbol is worth.
What each money symbol is worth depends on both its tier and how many scatters triggered the round:
- Bronze, 3 scatters: 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 5x, 7.5x, 10x, 100x total bet
- Bronze, 4 scatters: 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 5x, 7.5x, 10x, 12.5x, 500x
- Bronze, 5 scatters: 2x, 2.5x, 5x, 7.5x, 10x, 12.5x, 15x, 1000x
- Silver, 3 scatters: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 500x
- Silver, 4 scatters: 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 2500x
- Silver, 5 scatters: 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x, 5000x
- Gold, 3 scatters: 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 20x, 30x, 40x, 1000x
- Gold, 4 scatters: 6x, 8x, 10x, 20x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 5000x
- Gold, 5 scatters: 8x, 10x, 20x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 60x, 10000x total bet
Each rung of the ladder holds eight possible values, and each money symbol lands somewhere on its tier’s ladder. The scatter count matters twice over: it lifts every rung of the ladder, and it lifts the ceiling, which runs from 100x at a bronze three-scatter trigger all the way to 10,000x for a gold symbol on a five-scatter start.
The jumps between tiers are large. A gold symbol’s bottom rung at a five-scatter trigger, 8x, sits above the top rung of a bronze symbol’s ladder at the same trigger. At the top of the table, gold pays 100 times what bronze does for the same five-scatter start.
The structure rewards the long round. A five-scatter trigger that fills with gold symbols is where the serious money sits, and the gap between a three-scatter bronze finish and that ceiling is enormous.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.6/10
Playing Trees of Treasure is mostly waiting under a very pretty tree. You spin a plain 5×3 reel for stretches at a time, the royals trickle in, and the one thing pulling you forward is the scatter count. For a game that looks this ornate, the session itself is remarkably sparse.
The Money Respin round justifies the wait, and it’s the best thing here by a distance. The bronze-to-silver-to-gold sequence means a round that keeps resetting doesn’t just last longer, it pays at a higher rate the deeper you get, which is a sharper idea than most hold-and-win features manage. The weakness is the base game: five dragons pay 100x and nothing else comes close, so between triggers there’s very little to land.
It suits players who like one long build towards one well-made feature, and who’d rather the budget went into how the round escalates than into a second bonus mode. Anyone who wants free spins variety or frequent base-game drama will find this grove quiet. Those happy to wait for the coins to fall will find the waiting pays off more often than not.
