Wild Gangs Slot Review
A boulevard runs down to a burning orange sunset, green neon on the left storefronts, purple garages on the right, and two crews glaring across the middle of it. Wild Gangs, from Degen, builds its entire maths model on that face-off: the two Wilds aren’t just substitutes but the trigger for everything the game pays, and the biggest wins arrive precisely when the rivals stop ignoring each other.
It runs on a 5×5 grid with 15 fixed paylines, at 96.0% RTP with high volatility, capping wins at 20,000x bet. City of Sin and Holy Wilds come from the same catalogue, and Wild Gangs pushes the two-wilds idea further than either. Stakes run from 0.10 to 150, and the biggest heist on offer is worth 20,000x the stake.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right across the 15 fixed lines, with three or more matching symbols needed and only the highest combination per line counting. There are five high-paying and four low-paying symbols. The hit rate is 28.8%, which for a high-volatility game is respectable.
The paytable, in multiples of the bet, reads like this:
- Bank – 3 pays 2x, 4 pays 3.5x, 5 pays 6x
- Liquor Store – 3 pays 1.5x, 4 pays 3x, 5 pays 5x
- Portrait Character – 3 pays 1x, 4 pays 1.5x, 5 pays 3x
- Blue Car / Gold Dollar Sign Hands – 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 1x, 5 pays 2x
- Pistol, Knife/Scissors, Brass Knuckles, Fist/Brain Icon – 3 pays 0.1x, 4 pays 0.2x, 5 pays 0.5x
- Gang Wilds (Green and Purple) – 5 pays 10x
There are two Wilds, one per gang, and both substitute for every regular paying symbol. That’s the whole of their day job. Everything interesting happens when they team up or square off, and the base game has three ways for that to play out.
Gang Brawl
The simplest of the three. If both Wilds take part in the same payline win, the winnings are doubled. It’s a flat x2, no dice rolled, no ladder climbed – just the brawl doing what a brawl does.
Liquor Store and Bank Robbery
When at least one Wild – or several Wilds of the same gang – joins a payline win containing a Liquor Store or Bank symbol, the win is multiplied by the number of Wilds on that line:
- 1 Wild – 2x multiplier
- 2 Wilds – 3x multiplier
- 3 Wilds – 5x multiplier
- 4 Wilds – 10x multiplier
Gang War
Put Wilds from both gangs on the same payline as a Liquor Store or Bank symbol and the two crews go to war. Each gang draws one multiplier at random from the pool attached to the triggering symbol, then one gang wins the fight and its multiplier lands on the winline.
- Liquor Store pool – 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 75x, 100x
- Bank pool – 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 125x, 150x, 200x
There’s a floor under the randomness. If multiple Wilds of one gang are involved, that gang’s drawn multiplier is at least the Robbery value for that Wild count – so two Green Wilds guarantee the Green side draws no lower than 3x in a Liquor Store war.
That floor is what makes stacking a single gang worthwhile even when a war is coming.
Wild Gangs Bonus Games & Free Spins
Every bonus in Wild Gangs arrives through the same doorway: the Gang Shootout. A war ends, one gang is chosen at random as the winner, and the losing gang’s Wild shrinks back to a 1×1 symbol and retreats off the reels, destroying symbols on the way out.
An avalanche fills the gaps, another win evaluation lands, and then the bonus triggers – Purple’s round if the Purple Wild won, Green’s if the Green Wild took it. Both modes play at the triggering spin’s bet.
Purple Gang Free Spins – City Takeover
The winning Expanded Wild opens the round as a Sticky Wild carrying a 1x multiplier. Every Wild that lands during the round also sticks, then creeps one reel towards the Expanded Wild on each consecutive spin, gaining +1 multiplier each time it moves.
When a Wild reaches a space adjacent to the Expanded Wild, it merges on the next spin and adds its multiplier to the whole.
The game doesn’t fix a spin count; the round runs until the board is full of Sticky Wilds or the Police Symbol arrives. The Police Symbol is the exit, not the end. When it lands, all wins are paid, then every sticky Wild splits into 1×1 segments with multipliers reset to x1 and scatters randomly across the reels.
One final respin and win evaluation closes the round. The law arriving doesn’t cost you the board – it reshuffles it and pays out one more time.
Green Gang Hold & Spin – The Big Heist
The Green round converts the Expanded Wild into a reel of Cash symbols and sets a Spins Counter at 3. Each spin ticks the counter down; landing any non-empty symbol resets it to 3. The round ends at zero or when the board fills with Cash.
Only four symbols can land:
- Cash Symbol – sticks on landing, worth 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x bet
- Multiplier Symbol – multiplies all Cash symbols on the reels at the end of the spin; multiple Multipliers in one spin sum before applying
- Collector Symbol – converts into a Cash symbol worth the total of all other Cash symbols present
- Empty Symbol – does nothing, and does not reset the counter
The Collector is the symbol that turns a modest board into a serious one, because it counts every Cash symbol already stuck and becomes their sum. Stack a Multiplier on top and the maths compounds quickly. Maximum win cap is 20,000x bet.
Boost
Boost triples the bet price and guarantees at least two Wilds on every spin. Since both bonus routes run through Wild interactions, that’s a direct raise on the odds of reaching the Shootout – and of landing Gang Brawls and Robberies along the way.
At 3x the stake, it’s priced for players who want the feature ladder in play every spin.
Buy Bonus
Three buys are on the counter:
- Big Heist Bonus – 75x bet, straight into the Green Gang Hold & Spin
- City Takeover Bonus – 120x bet, straight into the Purple Gang Free Spins
- Random Bonus – 95x bet, either round at random
After any purchase, the starting Sticky Wild or Cash reel is placed on a random reel. Note the pricing logic: the Random Bonus sits 20x over the Big Heist, so it’s a bet on the Purple round being worth the premium.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.9/10
Playing Wild Gangs feels like waiting for the shootout, then watching it hand you a whole new game. You sit through a base game of small heists, then the gangs finally collide and the reels turn into something else entirely. That collision is why anybody picks it – the turf war isn’t the framing, it’s the engine room.
The best thing here is the Big Heist. Collectors summing a loaded board, Multipliers stacking on top, a counter that keeps resetting – it’s the round with a genuine finish-line rush. The worst is the single doorway: both bonuses arrive through the same Shootout, so nothing breaks up the quiet stretches between them.
It suits players who enjoy learning a system – the Gang War floor, the Boost maths, which round to buy – and who won’t flinch at a long, quiet boulevard to get there. Anyone after frequent small payouts will find the wait expensive. For feature-chasers with patience, though, this neighbourhood pays its dues.
