Wild Reindeers Slot Review
A white reindeer stands hoof-deep in a snowbound alpine valley, icicles hanging off a reel frame of frosted fir, and Spinberry want you to believe the scenery is the draw. It isn’t. The paytable is the least interesting thing on the screen: four of a kind on the best symbol pays 3x the bet, and the deer exist mainly to keep you spinning while the crystals quietly do the real work.
That’s the whole idea here. Crystals carry stake multipliers up to 500x, and the base game is one long wait for a Collection symbol to sweep them off the reels. It plays on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways to win at an RTP of 93.19%, which sits well below the modern norm. The studio’s Spinberry Derby and Hot Gold Take It or Build It show the same fondness for a build-and-collect loop, but neither wraps it in a valley this cold.
How the Base Game Pays
Wins pay left to right across 243 independent ways, with only the highest combination counting on each way. The symbol values are modest across the board, and they’re multiples of the total bet:
- Blue-framed Antlered Deer – 1x for two, 2x for three, 3x for four, 4x for five
- Purple-framed Golden Deer / Purple-framed Antlered Deer – 0.5x for three, 0.8x for four, 1.5x for five
- White Deer Trio / White Deer Pup – 0.5x for three, 0.8x for four, 1x for five
- Crystals (purple, red, green, blue) – 0.2x for three, 0.4x for four, 0.8x for five
The Wild is a snowflake-crested white reindeer that substitutes for every symbol except the Free Spins and Collection symbols. Four or fewer Wilds have to combine with another symbol to form a win, and five Wilds on a way match the top payout on the board. Wins overall are capped at a fixed cash amount rather than a multiplier of the stake.
Base Game Features
Wild Reindeers Feature
The Gold Reindeer is the trigger. When it lands on the reels, the feature activates at random and Wild symbols appear in random positions. There’s no meter to fill and no pattern to read; the deer simply arrives and the board changes shape in a single spin.
It’s a simple injection of substitution power, and it stays active through the free spins round, where it does most of its work.
Collection Feature
This is where the real money on the reels sits. The crystal symbols carry attached stake multipliers, and the Collection symbol, active in the base game, sweeps up every multiplier on every crystal in view. The ladder runs:
- x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15, x20
- x25, x50, x100, x250, x500
Every crystal on the board contributes when the Collection symbol lands, so a single sweep can gather a dozen multipliers at once. A board stacked with mid-range crystals and a well-timed Collection symbol pays far beyond anything the standard paytable manages. The feature runs in the base game only; it’s switched off during free spins.
Free Spins
Free Spins symbols are the scatter, and they pay in tiers:
- 3 symbols award 10 free spins
- 4 symbols award 20 free spins
- 5 symbols award 75 free spins
Inside the round, the Wild Reindeers feature stays live, so random Wilds can still drop in. The Collection feature doesn’t come along, and the Free Spins symbols themselves go dormant, so there’s no retriggering; 75 spins is the ceiling and you only get there from the base game.
Spins triggered from the base game play at the bet of the activating round. Wins from the round are added to way wins on top.
Buy Feature and Feature Spin
Buy Feature
The Buy Feature skips the wait and starts the free spins round immediately, in three sizes with their own RTPs:
- 10 free spins – 93.08% RTP
- 15 free spins – 93.29% RTP
- 20 free spins – 93.09% RTP
Each buy is configured from its button, with the spin count and the price set before you commit. Note that the 15-spin buy grants a tier the scatters themselves never award, and that none of the three buys improves on the base game’s return.
Feature Spin™
The Feature Spin™ is a second purchase route, and it plays differently: it’s a pre-game with a single mode of play where the reels carry only active and inactive Free Spins symbols. Choose your spin count, then spin until three active symbols line up to win the feature.
Its RTPs run at 93.28% for the 10-spin mode, 93.38% for 15, and 93.11% for 20, with spins played at the base bet corresponding to the Feature Spin™ stake. The 15-spin mode is the only configuration in the game that outreturns the base figure, and only barely.
Gamble and Bet Chance
Gamble
After any win, the Gamble button offers a card draw from a fresh 52-card deck. Pick the colour to double the gamble amount or the suit to quadruple it; get it wrong and the stake is gone. You can chain up to five correct calls, collecting at any point, and the round times out and banks your winnings if you don’t choose. It’s unavailable once game winnings pass a set threshold, and it can be toggled off in settings.
Bet Chance
When your balance drops below the last spin stake, the Bet Chance dial activates. Press spin and the pointer decides: green awards a spin at your previous stake level, red takes what’s left of the balance. Cancelling returns you to the game with nothing deducted. The size of the green segment against the red is the odds, and the whole thing can be switched off in settings if you’d rather not see it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6/10
Playing Wild Reindeers is a lot of quiet standing about in the snow, watching deer trot past with prizes that barely cover the walk, waiting for the crystals to stack up. You load it for that moment, and for the valley itself, which is genuinely lovely at dusk.
Its strength is the Collection sweep: because every crystal on the board pays at once, one good landing beats anything the paytable offers across dozens of ordinary spins. The weakness is the return: 93.19% is thin by any standard, and no buy or Feature Spin™ mode in the game clears 93.38%.
This suits players who like one big collect mechanic and don’t mind paying for the privilege in a colder-than-average return, wrapped in some of the nicer winter artwork around. Anyone counting on the free spins round to carry the game will be underdressed for the weather.
