Wings of Ra Slot Review
Golden falcon wings spread either side of a sun disc above a carved stone arch, with braziers burning at the foot of the reels. Wings of Ra plays its Egyptian setting straight, all polished gold and sandstone, and it hangs everything on one idea: a ten-line game where wins don’t care which side they come from.
Red Tiger builds this one on a 5×3 grid with ten win lines, a 95.69% RTP and a 3,166x maximum win. Wings of Ra Megaways grew out of this original, and our coverage of that follow-up ran back in 2024; this one sits in the studio’s catalogue alongside Mystery Reels Megaways and Egypt Megaways.
Bets run from 0.10 to 50 per spin, which keeps the doors open to most bankrolls. The sun disc is waiting if the coins fall your way.
All Wins Pay Adjacent
All wins pay adjacent in this game. Matching symbols on adjacent reels count from either side of the reels or through the middle, which opens up line patterns that a standard left-to-right game would ignore. It’s a small rule with a real effect on how the ten win lines behave, and it’s the one thing separating the base game from any other five-reel, ten-line spinner on the same shelf.
In practice it means a combination can start from the right-hand reel and still pay, provided the symbols sit on adjacent reels and match one of the ten line patterns. Two lines through the same cluster of symbols can both pay in the same spin. For a grid this small, that reach matters more than it would on a wide layout.
The symbols keep to the theme. The Pharaoh and Nefertiti lead the pays, with a winged scarab and the Eye of Ra behind them, and the familiar A, K, Q, J and 10 round out the lower end. Values below are multiples of the line bet, for three, four and five matching symbols.
- Pharaoh: 3x, 10x, 30x for three, four, five
- Nefertiti: 2x, 5x, 15x
- Winged Scarab: 1.4x, 3x, 8x
- Eye of Ra: 1x, 2x, 5x
- A: 0.5x, 1x, 2x
- K: 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.8x
- Q: 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.6x
- J: 0.3x, 0.6x, 1.4x
- 10: 0.3x, 0.6x, 1.2x
The ladder is steep from top to bottom, and the premium symbols pull well clear of everything under them. Only the highest combination on each line counts, and wins across different lines add together.
The Free Spins symbol is a scatter, so it counts wherever it lands rather than sitting on a line. There’s no wild symbol in the game, so the adjacent-pays rule does the work another game would hand to substitutions.
Free Spins and Mystery Coins
Triggering the Bonus
The scatter is the doorway to everything else this game does. Land three of them and the bonus round opens on twelve spins, with each symbol past the minimum worth three extra. There’s a limit of one scatter per reel and five per spin, so eighteen free spins is the best possible start.
There’s no retrigger. During the bonus round no Free Spins symbols land at all, so what you start with is what you get. The round’s whole job is the Mystery Coins.
Mystery Coins
Mystery Coins drive the entire bonus. Every coin that lands feeds a progress bar, and each time the bar fills, the game converts all of the current lowest-paying symbols on the grid into Mystery Coins. The coins then spin to reveal a random symbol, and all of them in a given spin reveal the same one.
It works as a countdown through the paytable. The first filled bar takes the 10s off the reels. The second takes the Js, then the Qs, the Ks and the As, in order from the bottom. By the time several bars have been filled, the only non-coin symbols left standing are the premiums.
The conversions also stick around. A symbol that has become a coin stays a coin, so the grid gets denser with them as the round runs, and every reveal pays out across the ten lines when the symbol matches. The shared reveal is the point: one spin can turn a dozen coins into a dozen of the same symbol at once.
That’s where the 3,166x ceiling lives. A single spin late in a well-fed round can put the same high symbol across most of the grid, and the adjacent-pays rule pays every line it touches. It’s a build that rewards rounds which fill the bar early.
With a 22.49% hit frequency, the base game keeps things ticking over between triggers, and the adjacent-pays rule gives the ten lines more reach than the count suggests. The bonus is where the game concentrates its effort.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Wings of Ra is a simple game that saves everything for one room. The base game is a ten-line spinner with a neat adjacent-pays twist and not much else going on, and the symbol pays are modest at every level but the top. It’s the free spins that give the setting its purpose.
The Mystery Coin loop is the best thing here: each filled progress bar strips another low symbol off the grid, so the round gets visibly better the longer it runs. The weakness is just as structural. Eighteen spins is the hard ceiling, there’s no retrigger, and a round that fills the bar slowly can end before the coins ever really take over.
It suits players who like a long build inside a single bonus and don’t need a busy base game to stay interested. Anyone wanting the bigger engine has Wings of Ra Megaways waiting; the original still gives the sun disc room to work.
