Your Own Island Slot Review
Palm fronds droop into the frame from both top corners, a tiered resort and a row of thatched huts sit on the sand to the left, and the right side opens onto a turquoise lagoon with a jetty and a couple of distant sailboats. Your Own Island spends more on the scenery than it does on the reels. Almost everything this game pays out with any size to it lives in one collection round, and the base game exists mostly to carry you there.
Behind it sits Yggdrasil, running a 5×3 grid with 20 paylines, 96% RTP, high volatility and a 28% hit rate. It shares shelf space with Hades Gigablox, Cazino Cosmos and Vikings Go To Olympus, though it chases none of their fireworks. Stakes run from €0.20 to €70.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit in front of the resort with a shaded rock and some purple hibiscus in the foreground, and the logo hangs top-left in white and pink beach lettering with a little star glinting above it. It’s all drawn in a bright, glossy cartoon style. Wins form left to right across the 20 fixed paylines.

The symbol set splits into two groups: the island’s residents on the upper tiers, and its fruit bowl filling out the lows. The five-tier paytable is modest at every level. Multiples are of the total bet:
- Couple on the beach: 1x for three, 2x for four, 5x for five
- Woman with drink: 0.5x for three, 1x for four, 4x for five
- Man and Snorkeler: 0.3x for three, 0.5x for four, 3x for five
- Starfruit, Dragon Fruit, Kiwi: 0.2x for three, 0.4x for four, 2x for five
- Passion Fruit, Coconut, Mango: 0.1x for three, 0.3x for four, 1x for five
The tiers sit close together, so there’s no single symbol worth holding your breath for. The base game’s job is keeping the balance ticking over while you wait for the scatters to arrive.
The scatter to watch is the Sea Breeze Scatter, which lands carrying a cash value of its own. It doesn’t pay on its own and it doesn’t form regular line wins; its whole purpose is to collect. Land six or more of them in the base game and the Hold & Win feature triggers.
Wild symbols appear in ordinary play too, standing in for any of the line-pay symbols to complete a combination. They’re the standard sort: helpful, unremarkable, no multiplier attached.

Your Own Island Hold & Win and Free Spins
Hold & Win Feature
Six or more Sea Breeze Scatters anywhere in the base game starts the feature. Every scatter that triggered it locks in place, and three respins are awarded with only the locked scatters and empty positions in play.
Each new Sea Breeze or Sunset Twist Scatter that lands also locks, and it resets the remaining respins back to three. The round ends when the respins run out or every position on the grid is filled. All cash values are paid at the end, together rather than as they land.
Each locked scatter carries a prize from this ladder:
- 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x bet
- 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x or 30x bet
- 50x bet
- 500x bet
Filling every position on the grid pays the special prize of 5,000x bet on top of the collected values. With 15 positions to cover from a six-scatter start, that fill is a long way from guaranteed. A grid that fills partway still pays everything it collected.
The reset is what gives the round its length. As long as fresh scatters keep arriving, the respins never run down, and a single feature can run well past its opening three spins. A dry run of three blanks in a row is all it takes to end it.

Free Spins
Three Free Spins symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 award 10 free spins. The round can’t be retriggered, so ten is all you get.
On every free spin, one random reel turns into a Wild Reel made up entirely of Sunset Twist Scatter symbols. That’s the wild doing its most interesting work in this game.
The Sunset Twist Scatter substitutes for every symbol except the Sea Breeze Scatter and the Free Spins symbol, and it carries a cash value of its own, set as a multiple of the total bet. In free spins it can appear on all five reels, which it never does in the base game. It doesn’t pay on its own as a line symbol.
Because the wild reels are stacked with cash-carrying scatters, six or more Sea Breeze or Sunset Twist symbols landing in a single free spin will trigger the Hold & Win feature inside the bonus. That combination, wild reels feeding the collection round, is where the round’s real potential sits.
Bonus Buy
Both features can be bought directly from the base game, at your chosen bet size:
- Hold & Win feature: 49x bet
- 10 Free Spins: 52x bet
The two prices are close enough that the choice comes down to which round you’d rather sit through. The free spins buy is the dearer of the two, and it’s the only way in that guarantees wild reels on every spin.
Either buy also bypasses the base game’s scatter requirement entirely. At the minimum €0.20 stake, the Hold & Win round costs €9.80 and the free spins €10.40. At the maximum €70 stake, that’s €3,430 and €3,640 respectively.

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing Your Own Island is a lot like an actual beach holiday: long, warm stretches of not very much, with the occasional event that makes the whole trip. You come for the collection round, and everything around it is scenery. That’s not a complaint so much as the design.
The best thing here is that the two bonus rounds feed each other. Free spins stack their wild reels with the same cash-carrying scatters the Hold & Win round collects, so the bonus isn’t a separate attraction bolted on; it’s another door into the feature you actually wanted. The weakest thing is the hard stop on ten spins with no retrigger, which cuts the round’s best ideas short the moment they get going.
This one is for players who enjoy the slow build towards a single collection feature and don’t mind the reels coasting on looks in the meantime. If you want a base game that pays its own way, this island has no vacancy. For everyone else, the sun lounger’s free.
