Rumpelstiltskin (Rumpelstilzchen) is a well-known German fairytale and children’s bedtime story that was first collected by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. To save herself from certain death, a Millers daughter makes a deal with an imp-like man to spin straw into Gold in exchange for her firstborn child once she marries the King, which he accepts.

After marrying the King, their firstborn arrives and the imp-like man returns to claim what he is owed. Not wanting to part with her child, the Queen offers up all her wealth but the imp-like man declines. He then aggress to give up her child if she can guess his name within 3 days. When the imp-like man returns on the third day, the Queen says his name, Rumpelstiltskin, and he loses his temper at the loss of their bargain.

Riches of Rumpelstiltskin Megaways fits in nicely with the fairytale/villian genre that iSofBet goes for in their Twisted Tale series, but will it be as successful as the likes of Morgana Megaways and Moriarty Megaways? Let’s play on and find out!

Riches of Rumpelstiltskin Megaways is a 6 reel slot with up to 117,649 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol types (or 2 or more of the highest paying symbol) land from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

Riches of Rumpelstiltskin Megaways features both cascading reels and an additional sliding reel. Each time a winning combination is formed, all winning symbols will be removed from the reels and new symbols will drop down, filling all empty positions.

The additional sliding reel sits above the main reel set and has 4 symbol positions. Each time a winning combination is formed using one of the symbols in the sliding reel, they will also be removed. Riches of Rumpelstiltskin isn’t exactly an innovative marvel. The Twisted Tale series can go one of t wo ways, innovation, or Hold and Win.

Riches of Rumpelstiltskin opts for the Hold and Win mechanic that iSoftBet love so much, and players obviously love it too given the demand for them. There’s a few other staple features here as well like Max Megaways and Mystery Symbols, which gives Riches of Rumpelstiltskin a classic Megaways feel.

Riches of Rumpelstiltskin was always going to be decent because of the foundations laid down by the Megaways Mechanic, but if we’re honest, we’d have loved to have seen iSoftBet build upon those foundations in a unique way for a memorable game.

Through testing the game there were moments of promise, some big hits and some interesting bonus rounds, but nothing about it indicates longevity like some of their other more famous games.

Overall, Riches of Rumpelstiltskin Megaways is good, but it’s just short of great.
