Coin Symbols and Collect

During the base game, special Coin symbols with random values between 0.2x and 50x your bet will appear across the reels.

These Coins will have no worth unless a special Collect symbol lands on reel 5. Once this happens, all present Coins and their values will be collected and the total win amount will be multiplied by the value of the Coin Booster.

Coin Booster

At the start of th game, the Coin Booster will display a Multiplier of x1. This will increase each time a 1UP symbol lands, up to a maximum of x10.

Once the Multiplier has been applied to all present Coin symbols, the Multiplier will be reset back to x1. If you decide to change stake, the Multiplier value will be automatically stored per bet.

The Coin Booster feature is available in the base game, Free Spins and Happy Hour Bonus.

Tippy Tavern Free Spins

Landing 3 Scatters across reels 1, 3 and 5 triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 9 Free Spins. The Coin Booster multiplier is automatically carried over to the Free Spins round.

During Free Spins, all Coin symbols are collected and stored in the Respin Pot counter. The round will end when there are no Free Spins remaining, with a chance to win the total amount stored in the Respin Pot counter, multiplied by the Coin Booster multiplier.

Landing 2 or 3 Scatters during this round will award an additional +3 and +9 Free Spins.

Happy Hour Bonus

In addition to Free Spins is the Happy Hour Bonus round. This is triggered by filling each Star position aove the reels with a Bonus symbol. This can be achieved over several base game spins and the Bonus symbol collection is stored per bet.

Once active, you will be awarded with 3 Bonus Spins. During the Happy Hour Bonus, for each new symbol that lands in view, the total number of Bonus spins is reset back to 3.

All Coin symbols that land are Sticky and will remain in their fixed positions for the duration of the Happy Hour Bonus. In addition to this, the Coin Booster multiplier is also carried over from the base game.

If the Happy Hour Bonus ends with a Coin symbol in all positions, all Coin symbols will transform their values to 50x your bet. All Coin symbols will be paid once the Coin Booster multiplier has been applied.

Tippy Tavern: Our Verdict

Tippy Tavern isn’t quite the marvel that Pile ‘Em Up was, and it isn’t quite as interesting thematically as Cats of the Caribbean, Cat Clans or Masters of Valhalla was either.

The Irish theme is very saturated, so it’s hard to see it as a unique game with that wow factor when you first load it up. However, Snowborn Games have a knack for making some surprisingly innovative games, as evidenced through prior releases. Tippy Tavern reuses the popular 1UP mechanic seen before in Pile ‘Em Up, and it’s as good as it is frustrating at times, to be honest. On one hand, it’s great when the multiplier is high and the coins come rolling in, and on the other its frustrating to see it reset back to 1x after applying its multiplier to a meagre amount of coins.

The 1UP mechanic certainly has its ups and downs, but its appeal is undeniable when its firing on all cylinders. You’ll certainly want to enter the Happy Hour Bonus with a good Coin Booster multiplier, and if you do then you’ll be adequately impressed with what Tippy Tavern has to offer. At its best, Tippy Tavern can offer up to 7,500x, which is quite respectable. The mind boggles at what sort of carnage would need to ensue with coin values and multipliers to reach it, but we’re fairly confident in Tippy Tavern’s abilities anyway, max win aside.

Overall, Tippy Tavern didn’t quite stand out as one of Snowborn’s greatest slots, but it certainly isn’t without appeal.
