Roadkill Slot Review
You can’t deny that humanity hasn’t had a negative effect on the animal population. Millions are killed each and every year, but now they’re finally taking a stand. There’s an argument to say that evolution is flawed if animals can evolve to adapt, yet they can’t look both ways. Perhaps in hundreds or even thousands of years, they will if humans haven’t taken to the sky in hovercrafts. In Nolimit City’s latest release Roadkill, the tyres are firmly on the tarmac, and now it’s the drivers who should watch their backs.
Should you be unfortunate enough to be driving leisurely through the territory of Papa Bear, Fred the Rabbit and Deer Joe, then may god be with you. Nolimit City introduces us to these characters in their usual amusing fashion, and the name could suggest that it’s a follow-up to their previous release, Road Rage.
Nolimit City ‘sequels’ are almost always loosely based on previous titles as opposed to being actual sequels, so expect innovative features that make it stand out.
We’re excited to see what Nolimit City has to offer this time around, but we think we’ll walk, lest we become victims of a grizzly bear.
Roadkill Base Game and Features
Roadkill is a 5-reel Video Slot with up to 99 connected ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.
The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. Roadkill has a theoretical RTP of 96.05% and a max win cap of 11,091x.
In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is Billy, followed by Hilly, El Zorro, Love-Nut, and G. Coonie. Low-paying symbols fall to Barrels, Tyres, Bear Traps, Acorns, and Rubbish Bags. Wilds substitute for all High and Low-paying symbols.
Call to Arms
During gameplay, when 2 Scatter symbols land in view, they will trigger the Call to Arms Feature. Two regular Hearts are applied and a battle commences on reels 2, 3, and 4.
If a 3rd Scatter drops in during this time, it will activate the Team Assemble Free Spins round, restoring all regular Hearts which has been lost during the Call to Arms feature. The round will end when no more Hearts are remaining.
Collectors
Collectors are activated whenever a Jumping Animal Wild is in play. Each Collector is tied to a matching coloured Jumping Wild symbol that increases the corresponding Collector value by +1.
If a Collector reaches its max cap of 5, it will trigger an Upgrade Feature that enhances the Jumping Wild depending on its type. When an Upgrade Feature is triggered, it will upgrade a regular Heart into an Armored Heart, starting with the left Heart first. If a Heart symbol is missing, an Armored Heart will be added instead.
Papa Bear
The Papa Bear symbol is a jumping wild that moves to a random position inside the Battle Area (reels 2, 3, and 4) in between spins.
Once Papa Bear is active, a Multiplier will be enabled whilst moving 1 position for every second spin, in any direction. Papa Bear can also block a Car once by damaging it for 2 Hits, from left to right. Each time a Car is stopped, the Multiplier will increase by +x1, up to a maximum of x5.
If its Collector reaches the max cap of 5, it will apply a permanent x2 Multiplier to the Papa Bear Jumping Wild until the end of the round.
Deer Joe
Deer Joe is another Jumping Wild symbol that moves to random positions in the Battle Area, in between spins. Deer Joe acts as a Splitting Wild that triggers only if it blocks a Car.
Deer Joe will try to move in any direction by moving 1 position on every spin. He is also able to block a Car once by damaging it for 1 Hit, from left and right. When a Car gets blocked, it will split all symbols on the same row and direction the car came from. When the Collector cap is reached, Deer Joe will now split all the rows instead of one.
Fred the Rabbit
Fred the Rabbit is the final Jumping Wild available that moves to a random position inside the Battle Area. Fred the Rabbit acts as a Trapper symbol that moves anywhere on each spin.
Fred the Rabbit can block a Car multiple times by damaging it with 1 Hit from left and right. When a Car stops, it will leave behind a Wild from its current position and move onto a new position that is free.
When the Collector reaches the max cap of 5, Fred the Rabbit will set a Trap on its starting position during its first jump. The trap is able to block and damage a Car once, transforming itself into a Wild symbol if a car gets stopped by it. If the trap fails to stop or hit a car, it will be removed before the spin stops.
Hilly and Billy Cars
Hilly and Billy Cars are enabled when Jumping Animal Wilds are in play, triggering only between spins. There are 2 types of Cars that can appear; Green (Hilly’s Car) and Red (Billy’s Car)
Hilly’s Car always comes in first during every round and requires 1 Hit to be stopped. Billy’s Car appears during every fifth round during Team Assemble, or during every round of Junkyard Assault, requiring 2 Hits to be stopped.
When a Car comes into view, it will travel across the reel set, starting from the right side and on a random row. If a Jumping Wild blocks a Car, it removes 1 point from it, until the car is stopped.
If a Car manages to traverse the area from the right without getting stopped, it will pick up again on a random row and traverse from the left side.
A successful back and forth will either damage an Armored Heart or remove a regular Heart starting with the rightmost heart. The feature ends when no more Hearts are in play.
Team Assemble
Team Assemble Free Spins is triggered when 3 Scatter symbols land during the base game or Call to Arms feature. Once active, all 3 regular Heart symbols will be awarded or restored if lost.
During this time, the Red Car will come in every 5th spin with the Green Car in tow. You will enter the Junkyard Assault feature if all 3 Jumping Wilds get upgraded.
Junkyard Assault
Junkyard Assault is only triggered if all 3 Jumping Wilds are upgraded to the fullest extent. Once active, 3 Hearts are awarded or restored if lost. During this time, the Red Car comes into play on every spin, as does the Green Car.
Each of the Jumping Wilds’ Collectors will be replaced with 1 Total Collector that starts at 0, triggering the Roadblock each time it reaches its max cap.
Roadblock
Roadblock triggers when a total of 20 Hits have been collected. Once this happens, Roadblock will enable on the next spin. The feature begins by restoring all regular Hearts and transforming all Jumping Wilds so that they cover an entire row each in the Battle Area.
Once the Battle Area is set, both Hilly and Billy Cars come into play, hitting one row each at random and triggering a feature based on the row hit.
- Top – Adds 1 Wild symbol to a random position on reel 5.
- Middle – Splits all row positions on reel 5.
- Bottom – Multiplies the 3×3 Wild by x2.
When both Cars have been stopped, all 3 rows will convert into one giant 3×3 Wild, covering the entire Battle Area. After payouts, the 3×3 Wild will split back into Jumping Wilds and the Total Collector resets back to 0.
Kings of the Road
When the max win cap of 11,091x is reached, the round will end and this amount times your bet is awarded automatically.

Roadkill: Our Verdict
Roadkill is a very diverse game, but that’s no surprise given who made it. Each and every Nolimit City slot is packed with features with replayability like no other slots. With so much to experience, it’s hard not to return, and the potential certainly helps to bolster their appeal, yet it’s not quite as exciting statistically as other Nolimit titles.
Compared to other NLC heavy hitters, Roadkill seems fairly tame, and more tame than Road Rage. The potential is of course still significant, with up to 11,091x as the bet as the max win. It might disappoint those who hope for bigger and better every time, but it’s still very much in line with many of the modern offerings, and perhaps even more than most.
The thing we’ve come to appreciate about Nolimit City slots is the blood, sweat and tears that go into making them. Not every release is better than the last, nor is it meant to be. Each of their games is a work of fine art in their eyes, and thus far their catalogue is a spectacle to behold. In some cases, certain slots, themes, or even features could go against their own interest, but they make what they want to make, and they’re infamous because of it.
Roadkill may not be an A-list slot, but they gave it the meticulous attention to detail that they give all of their games, and the end result is something thoroughly entertaining.
