In our latest Q&A we caught up with Marcin Tomola, Senior Game Designer at Yggdrasil Gaming to talk about their new release 3 Gladiators vs Caesar.
3 Gladiators vs Caesar transports players to Ancient Rome where 3 fearless gladiators face off against the ruler of Rome. Each gladiator brings their own special abilities to the battlefield, and players have a choice whether to play it safe with Training Mode, or go all-in for a mighty Deathmatch.
Jamie: Hi Marcin, thanks for chatting with us today! Can you tell us a little more about 3 Gladiators vs Caesar?
Marcin: Gladly! 3 Gladiators Vs Caesar is a game of high risk and high reward, combining the simplicity of easy-to-learn features, with the adrenaline-pumping thrill of the hunt for big wins. We take the players on a unique journey to the Grand Arena of ancient Rome, where three of the best Gladiators face against the almighty Caesar in a glorious duel. Among a palette of fantastic Features the game has to offer, one stands out the most: When entering Free Spins, the players are faced with a choice: To play it safe in the Challenge Free Spins and keep all their wins, or to risk them all in the Deathmatch Free Spins, where – if they emerge victorious – all their wins are multiplied for a massive boost!
Jamie: The choice of Free Spins modes is arguably the thing that stands out about 3 Gladiators vs Caesar. What was the reasoning behind the choice to offer the Deathmatch mode?
Marcin: We, as well as our players, we are gamblers at heart. We live for the thrill of taking risks, for the satisfaction of big wins, and for the stories that come with our experiences along the way. 3 Gladiators Vs Caesar was designed to encompass the essence of what makes gambling fun – the choices, the risks, and the glory of emerging victorious with huge wins to boast about!
Jamie: One of our favourite aspects of this release is the Gladiator Features, particularly how they each add Wilds in their own way. Was the way in which you would display these features something you were thinking about when you decided on the theme?
Marcin: Absolutely. When designing a Slot Game, we always strive to reflect the intended experience of the game’s features in the Art, Animation, and Audio that comes along with it. It involves a careful process of research and concepting across different departments. Since the game is all about glorious battles, we knew we wanted the Theme to embody and amplify this feeling of mighty warriors striving to conquer a powerful foe. The following brainstorming of ideas for all of these elements is always a rewarding and fun experience for the entire Design team.
Jamie: What is your favourite part of 3 Gladiators vs Caesar?
Marcin: It won’t be a surprise at this point, but the Deathmatch Free Spins. Nothing beats the good, old strive towards a massive goal – and the Consolation Prize mechanism gives an additional layer of excitement, keeping the players on their toes until the very last moment!
Jamie: Can you give us any more insights into your roadmap for the end of 2024; is there anything you’re really excited about?
Marcin: I can’t say too much for now, but indeed there are a lot of exciting new releases coming your way in the upcoming months from Yggdrasil Gaming. We are aiming both at tried-and-tested experiences that the players know and love, and a lot of fantastic new ideas and innovations, bound to shake up the online slots market and set up the bar quite high for the competition.
