3 Wicked Spirits Slot Review
Three grinning jack-o’-lanterns glare out of rusted cauldrons above a moonless graveyard, each one clutched by a skeletal hand on a pole. That graveyard is the best-looking thing here, and the strangest thing about 3 Wicked Spirits is that its loudest, most deliberate piece of design is also the one it never explains.
Plenty of Halloween slots sketch the season with a cobweb and a plastic skeleton. Clawbuster‘s 3 Wicked Spirits builds the whole set instead, and the graveyard artwork is easily its most convincing pitch.
It runs on a 5×3 grid at 95% RTP, with a four-tier jackpot ladder buried under the graves. The rest of what this game is lives above the reels and in the coins on them, and it’s worth digging through both before you spin.
Base Game & Features
The 5×3 grid is dressed head to toe in the graveyard’s palette, and every symbol on it belongs to the scene. The reel set breaks down like this:
- Portrait symbols carrying the Halloween theme
- A dog symbol
- The four royals: Q, J, A and K
- A skull-and-ghost WILD icon
- Jackpot coins stamped MINI, MIDI, MAJOR and GRAND
- Multiplier coins, with values such as x12 and x45 appearing on the board
The royals keep the lower end of the pays, as royals do, while the portraits and the dog carry the theme above them. Neither group is where the game keeps its secrets. The interesting coins are the ones that don’t behave like regular pays at all, and they’re covered in their own section below.
Two kinds of special coin share the board with the standard symbols. The first kind carries the four jackpot names, one coin per tier, and seeing them land on the grid is what puts the Hold & Win structure in motion. The second kind carries a multiplier value instead of a name, and those are the x12s and x45s that turn up among the rest.
That split gives the base game two things to watch on every spin. A spin can bring royals, a wild and a named coin all at once, and each of them means something different. It’s a busy board, but the symbols are distinct enough that reading it never becomes work.
The Wild
The wild is a skull-and-ghost icon that stands in for other symbols to complete winning combinations. It’s a straightforward substitution wild, and it’s the only regular helper on the reels. When it lands in the right gap, a dead spin becomes a paying one.
The Three Cauldrons
Above the reels, three jack-o’-lantern faces burn in metal cauldrons, each labelled with a single word: DOUBLE, MULT and XTRA. They’re the game’s signature image, skeletal hands gripping their poles above the graves, lit from within and impossible to miss.
What each cauldron actually does is left to the reels to reveal. The labels promise reel modifiers of some kind, but the mechanics aren’t spelled out, so there’s an element of watching the pumpkins to find out. Whatever they’re cooking, the game wants you to notice them first and understand them later.
Three labels, three guesses. DOUBLE points at something being doubled, most naturally a win or a coin value. MULT is the vaguest of the three, promising a multiplication of some kind without saying what or by how much. XTRA hints at more of something – extra spins, extra coins, extra value – and the game leaves all three open.
For a game built on a fixed, readable jackpot ladder, that’s a curious piece of design. The ladder below tells you exactly what everything pays, while the centrepiece above it tells you almost nothing. The gap between the two is the most distinctive thing about how 3 Wicked Spirits presents itself.
3 Wicked Spirits Bonus Features & Jackpots
The bonus side of 3 Wicked Spirits is a single structure: a Hold & Win mechanic built around the jackpot coins that land on the grid. Catch them on the reels and the ladder underneath is what’s at stake:
- MINI – 10x your bet
- MIDI – 20x your bet
- MAJOR – 50x your bet
- GRAND – 1,000x your bet
Four fixed tiers, each tied to its own coin. The step from MAJOR to GRAND is where the ladder stops being polite: 50x to 1,000x in a single rung is a twenty-fold jump, and it’s the jump the whole mechanic is built around.
Read as a shape, the ladder climbs in two moves. From MINI to MAJOR, each rung multiplies the last by somewhere between two and a half and two and a half times again – 10x, 20x, 50x – a steady, predictable climb. Then the GRAND breaks the pattern entirely. It’s a ladder with a staircase at the bottom and a cliff at the top.
The multiplier coins add texture to the ladder. Values such as x12 and x45 sit among the four fixed tiers, so the coins on the board at any moment can be worth more than a mid-rung jackpot. A x45 coin beats the MINI four times over.
They also fill the gaps the fixed tiers leave open. The ladder’s rungs are 10x, 20x, 50x and 1,000x, which leaves a lot of space between 50x and the top. A x45 coin pays nearly a MAJOR’s worth without touching the ladder at all, and the x12s give the smaller wins a floor above the MINI.
Beyond the ladder itself, the round’s inner workings stay close to the chest. The GRAND’s 1,000x is the biggest prize shown anywhere on the board, and there’s no overall maximum win figure for this one to point at on top of it. What you see on the ladder is the ceiling on offer.
It’s worth being clear about what that means in practice. A 1,000x GRAND is a solid ceiling for a coin-collection game, but it isn’t the four- and five-figure top end that high-volatility chasers hunt. This is a ladder built for frequent, readable prizes rather than one career-defining hit.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
You come to this one for the graveyard, and the graveyard doesn’t let you down. Beyond that, it plays as a steady coin-chase with a finish line you can see the whole way, which is rarer than it sounds at Halloween, where most of the competition buries its prizes in three separate bonus rounds.
The strength is honesty of structure: every prize on the board is fixed and visible, so you always know exactly what you’re chasing and what it’s worth. The weakness is the pumpkins. DOUBLE, MULT and XTRA get the best real estate in the game and never earn it, and a centrepiece you have to reverse-engineer yourself is a design choice I just can’t get behind.
This is a game for Halloween-first players who like a chase they can read at a glance, and for anyone who enjoys working a game out by playing it. It’s not for players who want their mechanics documented before the first spin, or anyone hunting a five-figure max. The graves are well kept, the candles are lit, and the GRAND coin is worth the walk through the mist.
