3 Wild Troopers Slot Review
Three big-eyed blob soldiers peer over a riveted armour-plate reel frame, watching a sunset battlefield of desert hills, sandbags and sagging wire fence. It’s a lovely picture, and it’s doing very little work: 3 Wild Troopers from Spinomenal is really one feature deep, and nearly every pound it pays comes out of the bonus round rather than the reels it decorates.
It’s a 5×3 grid with 10 paylines and a 3,000x ceiling on total winnings, with an operator-configurable return topping out at 96.11%. Sister titles include 3 Aztec Spells, 3 Chinese Charms and Crown Strike – Hold & Hit 3×3. For artwork this gentle, the bombs hit hard.
Base Game & Features
The base game is a conventional 5×3, 10-payline set-up. Line wins pay left to right, and only the highest combination on each line counts. Planes and military kit fill out the paying symbols, and a Wild substitutes for them to complete line wins. That’s its whole job here; it doesn’t stand in for the bombs.
The bombs are what lift this above a plain spinner. Alongside the regular symbols, black Bonus bombs carry cash values, and the green, red and blue Special Bonus bombs bring the collector, booster and multiplier tools with them into the feature. Six or more of those bombs in any combination, mixed or matched, is what lights the fuse.
Until then, the base game is line wins and a running total. Every bomb that drops onto the reels carries a visible stake-based value, from small change up to the jackpot labels, so each landing reads as money on the table rather than a symbol to be interpreted. Wilds arriving alongside them can complete lines while the bombs stack towards the trigger.
The jackpot ladder sits permanently in the sidebar, and it’s the troopers’ prize board. Those figures are read at a total bet of 0.1, so they scale with whatever you’re staking:
- MINI – 2
- MINOR – 5
- MAJOR – 15
- GRAND – 300
What’s fixed is the shape: a steep climb from MINI to GRAND, with the GRAND sitting at the top of a ladder whose biggest rung is the game’s 3,000x ceiling. The gaps between rungs are wide and uneven, so each step up the ladder is a real jump in pay rather than a nudge.
The bombs themselves split cleanly by colour, which makes the reels easy to read at a glance. Plain black bombs are value carriers and nothing else, while each of the coloured specials carries both a value and a job to do once the feature starts.
3 Wild Troopers Bonus Game – Hold & Hit
The Bonus Game needs six or more qualifying symbols on the reels at once: any mix of Bonus bombs and Special Bonus bombs (COLLECT, BOOST, MULTI or Jackpot) counts. The triggering symbols lock in place for the transition, and the feature opens on a locked 5×3 grid of 15 cells with three spins on the clock.
During the feature, only Bonus and Special Bonus symbols can land. Each spin, the empty cells can randomly award one of the following:
- x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x7 and x10 bet multipliers
- BOOST, COLLECT, MULTI and MYSTERY special bombs
- Bonus Jackpot multipliers based on your bet
One restriction shapes the whole round: only the Special Bonus bombs present at the trigger – or revealed by a MYSTERY during it – can use their features. Once a feature is on the grid, though, it can also land naturally afterwards. Landing any new symbol resets the spins back to three, so a hot streak keeps the round alive.
The Four Special Bombs
Each special bomb does one job, and together they turn a passive collection round into something with decisions happening on the reels:
- BOOST – picks a random value of x2, x3, x4, x5, x7 or x10 of the bet, adds it to every symbol on the reels, and keeps that value as its own
- MULTI – picks a random multiplier of x2, x3 or x5, applies it to every symbol on the reels, then takes its own value from the selected multiplier and the bet
- COLLECT – gathers the values of all Bonus bombs on the reels into its own value
- MYSTERY – reveals hidden symbols, which is how features not present at the trigger can still enter the round
How a Round Plays Out
The order these land in matters more than their count. A COLLECT arriving before a BOOST grabs the smaller total; arriving after, it sweeps the boosted one. Timing is everything, and the three-spin clock keeps the pressure on.
The round runs in a simple loop. Spin, and anything that lands locks into an empty cell and resets the counter to three. Land nothing, and one spin burns off the clock. Repeat until the counter runs dry, the cap is hit, or the grid is full.
The round ends one of three ways: three consecutive spins with nothing landing, total collected winnings hitting the x3000 maximum, or all 15 cells filling. When it ends, the total collected value from all Bonus symbols is summed and paid as the Bonus win. A full grid with the right specials in play is the route to the GRAND.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Most of a session on 3 Wild Troopers is spent watching the reels tick over while the three blob soldiers watch you back, waiting for the sixth bomb. That’s the one reason to pick it: when the feature finally arrives, it’s a proper collection round with real decisions in it, and the cute artwork makes reaching it less of a chore than it sounds.
The strength is the trigger-time restriction. Which specials you bring in decides what the round can even do, so every triggering spin has a stake in the outcome instead of just opening a door. The weakness is everything either side of it: the base game is thin, and the 3,000x ceiling caps the ambition well below what this format usually chases.
It suits players who enjoy a build towards one well-made round and don’t measure a slot by its biggest number. Chasers of five-figure ceilings will find it small. The troopers hold their position nicely; they were never going to take much ground.
